No question this will deserved to win for Cinematography. He brought the horror of war to another level. Beautifully filmed.
The work James Friend does is masterful. He manages to make something as horrible and brutal as war look so perfect.
One of the best visual experiences I've had in recent years. Completely deserved the award.
P.S. Tár and Empire Of Light have no business being nominated in this category, when films like Top Gun, Northman, Fabelmans and Batman are not nominated.
I got 3/5 for Cinematography. I got correct for Elvis, All Quiet and Empire of Light
Don't forget nope
Tar and Empire Of Light had great cinematography and deserved the nomination…
Well deserved truly beautiful cinematography
Why is Elvis nominated? The Batman deserved it more!
Both have great cinematography no doubt.
I wanted All Quiet... or Bardo... to win :)
How come Top gun Maverick wasn’t nominated et didn’t win…🤦
Decision to Leave should have been nominated.
Agreed!
Jonathan Majors is looking jacked!!!
Nope was the best in the whole year. The effort in the color grading and shooting techniques are another level.
nah the batman wad
Hoyte got it this year so it's all good
Love his callback to the previous win and at least now I don’t have to worry about Roger Deakins losing an Oscar since he has two now.
I was rooting for BARDO
But this movie also deserved
Honestly Darius Khondji deserved it, this is by far one of his best works that he did after Se7en, Midnight in Paris, or too old to die young, etc and he deserved to win for Bardo.
Honestly, this award deserved to win that of BARDO by Alejandro Gonzales Iñarritu, and although the film does not make sense to many, the photography made by Darius Khondji left my mouth open, because the entire film looks visually splendid in Mexico, moving away from the filter It would be that many saw it in Mexico, and in BARDO he took care that it looked so striking, and it is at the top of The Revenant, and I think it is one of his best works by Khondji after Se7en, Midnight in Paris or Too old to die young and he deserved it a lot for Bardo
Although well, I'm not complaining about All Quiet on the western front, which with James Friend gave us a pretty good picture. It looks all destructive, heartbreaking, warm, and at the same time terrifying in how war shows us and it deserved it with all respect. Both 2 are very good, but everyone knew who had to win.
PS: I don't accept complaints about The Batman, Babylon or Nope, etc. I'm only talking about the nominees. Thanks, :D
Khondji is known for shaping himself into something that could come closer to the a director's distinct visual style
Jean-Pierre Jeneut's movies are known for a striking green color palette; Wong Kar-wai's movies are known for vivid colour and step-printing, while Iñárritu's movies are known for a naturalistic look (thanks to Emmanuel Lubezki and Rodrigo Prieto)
Khondji was able to please all these directors for his capacity to reshape himself, rather than having a distinct visual style of his own
I see you on every video saying AQOTWF didn't deserve to win anything. Cope and seethe bro. The better film won.
Great Victory
Close should have been nominated and won
Very deserving!!!
I really wanted Tar to have won in this category, Aftersun and Top Gun Maverick also deserved to be nominated.
To me, BARDO :D
@@diegoperleche51771÷2×❤❤2
I really wished TÁR as a winner.
It shouldn’t have been nominated imo. Top Gun: Maverick’s cinematography is way better.
Top Gun Maverick needed to get a nomination
It should have won this category.
BARDO was the best work here
Nope.
I agree.
Top Gun: Maverick should have been nominated over Elvis. The flying scenes alone are way more impressive than the cinematography in Elvis.
Fun Fact: Since 2009, All Quiet on the Western Front became the 10th film to win this category w/ a VFX nomination on its belt. Since then, the only 4 films to win the category w/o a VFX nod were Birdman, La La Land, Roma, & Mank.
What about 1917 ? It won both.
Back before Jonathan Majors assaulted someone
Rhodes and KAAANG.
Lowkey looks like Luke Littler’s dad lmao.
Two great MCU villains as presenters yes!!
Uno de los Oscars más merecidos
Aunque Bardo se lo merecía :D
@@diegoperleche5177 pero AQOTWF lo merecia mas :D
Jonathan Majors is such a good looking man.
Killmonger and Kang the Conqueror presenting together.
This didn’t age well…
When you made war movie you have the Oscar for best cinematography!😉
Is a fact!😅
Bardo was nominated for Alejandro g. iñarritu will stop whining. That place deserved it more Top gun: Maverick, The batman and even Close
Fire Of Love deserved a nomination here
Is archive footage eligible in this category?
@@rowanc88 it’s cinematography is big and wonderful I hear
@@emiliobello2538 It's archival footage.
@@EamonKellyok
The Batman should've been nominated.
Former of Creed 3
if Top Gun Maverick would've been nominated on here, it would have won cinematography
If it wasn't nominated it means it's not going to win because there is no passion from its branch.
@Derek Dirk (#FirstLady) of course. I've been following the Oscars since 2005.
Yeah Nathan! Top Gun Maverick won Cinematography at the Critics Choice, how not nominated at the Oscars? That's a shame, I am so angry! Such a worst snub! 😠
Sad how that movie went from a shoo-in to win to not even being nominated
@@dariussalepetru6770 Critics Choice are no members of the Academy. CC and the Oscars has different voting system.
hello
Should have been
Best Cinematography
Bardo
Beast
Fire Of Love
Elvis
Close
Winner Bardo
nah
@@uncle7215 which would be your pick of those?
@@emiliobello2538 none, All Quiet on the Western Front deserves it
@@uncle7215 and what do you think of my pics?
The least deserving win of the year.
All the deserving films from 2022 weren’t nominated!!!
The Batman
Top Gun: Maverick
Babylon
Etc
I'd EASILY replace the mediocre Bardo and Empire of Light with oh, I don't know, The Batman, or Blonde, or Everything Everywhere All At Once, or The Fabelmans, or Top Gun: Maverick.
Greig Fraser is a great cinematographer
But I wasn't much of a fan of his work in The Batman
I'm just not a fan of the textured cinematography. I prefer a clean and sharp look, like Michael Seresin's in "Planet of the Apes"
The Batman was so textured that it made the movie look too dark for its own good
@@ZaharaKarim I just wish Matt Reeves could bring Michael Seresin to work in the sequel
That was the beauty of the Batman
The darkness mixed with light in the world of Gotham
The Batman’s Cinematography was on another level
Greig Deserved to be in this Category
dumbest take ever.
Sorry but Bardo was robbed
no it wasn't
Undeserved.
Unpopular opinion but I think Mandy should have won cinematography for Elvis
i second, her work is too underappreciated
No
She shouldn’t have been nominated.
BARDO robbed
Yes. It was. Should have got as much nominations as Roma
no
