If an international film is also nominated for Best Picture, it’s almost 97% a given that they’ll win Best International Film
Well what about the 3%? Example please for that
@@Bjork4s Could be if two international films also get Best Picture nominations, then it would be a toss up who would win the International Feature award.
Same in the past years
1998 - Life is Beautiful 🇮🇹
2012 - Amour 🇦🇹
2018 - Roma 🇲🇽
2019 - Parasite 🇰🇷
2021 - Drive My Car 🇯🇵
And now 2022 - All Quiet on the Western Front 🇩🇪
Generally true if it even gets more nominations than just one for International film
Dont be shy. Its 100%
The scene when the German saw the tanks for the first time and witnessed their friends & comrades burned by flamethrowers was beyond epic.
Lol
@@alexiaNBC I meant in the battle and by Germans I meant the protagonist and his crew.
@@alexiaNBC what about the fresh recruits? -_-

Truly deserved… one of the best films iv seen in years
Did Felix Kammerer deserve a Best Actor nomination?
Absolutely absorbing!! Loved it!!
@@emiliobello2538 I don't think he should've replaced any of the eventual 5 nominees that got a Best Actor nomination. Having said that, he was very good!!
@@jonathanvelazquezph.d.2719Why not just add a 6th nominee? Why does there have to be 5?
This german film should've won Best Picture instead of Everything Everywhere (change my mind)
All Quiet on the Western Front was much better and important film
Felix deserved a,Best Actor nomination. He’s pretty young and it would have been big for him, same for the kid from Close. Also it would have been great if Argentina 1985 won since it’s the only one not from Europe here
Imo, I don't think Felix should've replaced any of the eventual 5 nominees that got a Best Actor nomination. Having said that, he was very good!!
@@jonathanvelazquezph.d.2719 no Best Actor for him?
@@jonathanvelazquezph.d.2719 You are everywhere! 🙄
All Quiet shows us in a visceral way the nightmare of being in a war and also confronts us as humanity not to allow something like this to happen again.
A difficult gem to watch but one that stays with you long after you've finished watching it. There was no competition, this Oscar was sure to go to Germany.
Absolutely absorbing!! Loved it!!
The movie is an absolute masterpiece.
What an incredible film! Very absorbing. It stays with you after the first viewing. Absolutely deserving of the Oscar 🏆
Probably should've won Picture over Everything Everywhere
I love All Quiet on the Western Front so much more
@@dariussalepetru6770 I have to agree with you. I liked Everything Everywhere All at Once but All Quiet on the Western Front was the best of the bunch. Even the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes dismissed EEAAO. Each ceremony chose a different film. I would've aligned with the Brits myself.
@@dariussalepetru6770 Cry harder! Maybe The Academy will listen to your nagging.
@@jonathanvelazquezph.d.2719 Stay pressed!
Felix is such a sweet person :)
Great film. I wanted Felix Kammerer to win something, but I wish him the best from now on.
To me this is one of those moments where every nominee in this category deserved to win. They all moved me on a level I can’t even describe.
P.S. Albrecht Schucht should’ve been nominated for Supporting Actor
and Felix for best Actor
True
One of the best movies I’ve seen the cinematography is phenomenal great acting too what a masterpiece I’m glad I’m alive to see such a movie
What a strong category! All Quiet on the Western Front is also nominated for Best Picture, so it almost undoubtedly won Best International Feature Film. Although this version is not as great as the classic 1930 version that won the Academy Award for Best Picture, it still stood out this year and this win is absolutely deserved.
I guess so
I don’t get the weird circlejerk of the original like yes it is great for its time but it’s objectively inferior at capturing the true feeling of war imo
@@nev12345678910you're speaking facts
I love how each and everyone of them say something different and inspiring
Best winner of the evening.
It's the best if you want to know the both sides of a war. I was shocked to read this novel at fourteen.
I love how Antonio Banderas uses his Puss in Boots voice when he says the nominees compared to how he was talking earlier.
Which of those movies would have Puss In Boots loved?
@@emiliobello2538 Argentina 1985.
@@adolfopena7358 he might have liked it
Honestly my fave is Argentina 1985 but the win is fine by me, deserved
1 All quiet on the western front
2 The quiet girl
3 Argentina 1985
4 Eo
5 Close
You could see the disappointment of Salma hayek, it seems that she wanted Argentina1985 to win. I don't know why she was disappointed, it was obvious that All quiet on the western front was going to win, there was no way he was going to lose.
Yes. I just watched it and it's really good. They deserved it
We did too
Eden Dambrine deserved a Best Actor nomination for Close as well as Felix Kammerer for All Quiet On The Western Front and Catherine Clinch for The Quiet Girl since they're pretty young. Also Ricardo Darin for Argentina 1985 even though he's not young but acclaimed in the Spanish speaking world. And if Close won (which it should have) it would have been the first win for Belgium and Lucas Dhont would have been the youngest winner in Best International Feature. What a bad year for Francophone cinema
It was a bad year for movies in French. Eden Dambrine should have been nominated instead of Brendan Fraser
Deeply connected 😢 Its a Masterpiece
Very well deserved. Edward Berger should have been nominated for Best Director. The Bafta's got that one right!
This movie deserved oscar.
*Antonio and Salma I love them!)*
The best winner 🏆 deserves all the Oscars ❤️❤️💙💙
This is already one of my most fav films all time
Puss and Kitty presenting a well-deserved win and its become pretty obvious that if an international feature is also nominated best picture then the odds of it winning this award are pretty high.
Well, Pinocchio is very deserved :D
You think they should have presented this as cats?
@@manuelbello5806 Rebel Wilson and James Corden pulled that joke at the 2020 ceremony and Elizabeth Banks pulled a similar prank when she presented visual effects.
@@Neganfan I meant animated
It was an actual Anti-War movie and an incredible one for sure
so random how this is the second year in a row that a new version of a Best Picture winner also receives a Best Picture nomination (West side story and this)
don't be too surprised if the Casablanca remake is coming soon lmao
I thought that the international movie to sweep the Oscars would be Decision To Leave or Bardo or even Fire Of Love
Fire Of Love would have been great
Thank god Paul is alive, and sparkly too!
Masterpiece 🏆
Maybe I'm thinking wrong, but all the people who say "Movie X deserved this more or movie X should have been nominated rather than the German one".... Isn't it rather a wrong feeling from you? Because the German movie not only won Best International Film, but was the movie with the most wins on the night after Everything Everywhere All At Once. Maybe the German movie didn't win Best International Film so undeservedly...
Two movies that would've been top contenders but weren't nominated-
RRR ( India really screwed it up by not selecting it )
Decision To Leave ( Don't know why the Academy hates Korean Content. Parasite was the first and the last one it seems )
On the bright side though there's The Quiet Girl and All Quiet On The Western Front, one of the best war movies I've seen in years. Though I'd still argue All Quiet didn't deserve the original score win over Babylon but international feature and cinematography were much deserved.
Hey, and what about BARDO??, at least one nomination for best foreign film
I think Fire Of Love deserved those in place
@@diegoperleche5177 definitely and Daniel Giménez Cacho for Best Actor and Best Original Score and Íker Sánchez Solanofor Best Supporting Actor and Best Hair and Makeup and Best Picture
@@diegoperleche5177 Don't know about that one tbh. The reviews were kinda terrible and it didn't perform well in its awards season run so....... atleast it managed to clench a Cinematography nom which it rightfully deserves.
@@emiliobello2538 That was a solid film and wanted that to win Best Documentary Feature.
I was wish Argentina 1985 win but all quiet on the western front deserved
Este é merecido! Este é um dos melhores filmes sobre a guerra da história do cinema, em segundo vem o 1917.
After I watched this, I realized it was robbed of best picture.
Felicidades !! Antonio Banderas Guapo 👔🌹👌🏻🤩 Saludos desde🫶🏻💗. 🇪🇦🇪🇺
Well deserved, this film makes you see war differently
Recien la veo y puedo decir que debe estar en la lista de las 100 películas que tienes que ver antes de morir y en los primeros puestos , es hermosa , bendito sea el séptimo arte
A wonderful movie
one of the greatest films ive ever seen that i never want to watch again
Der Film ist ein Meisterwerk 👍
Salma and Antonio naming Argentina without any accent 🥹👏🏻
omg no one cares lol any other country could be named without an accent but for some reason you're the only who cares about it

True decision, well deserved
I believe this should have gotta best screen play or script idk what its called
Bravo 👏
DECISION TO LEAVE DESERVED TO BE NOMINATED!!!!!!!!!
I don´t care for this film... and point
And also, why do you want South Korea to win again with Decision to leave.
If I already win thanks to Parasite or Drive my car, so that again with Decision To Leave, I will already give way to other countries that are worth it.
It also adds BARDO and RRR that were more rejected than Decision To Leave
True Falcon, Decision to Leave should be here instead of EO
@@diegoperleche5177 Drive My Car is Japanese.
decision to leave you will always be my winner 😔
The five nominated films are great
I wish Decision to Leave was nominated.
we need one more zorro movie from those two.
A movie that showed horrifying side of humanity
Of all the Kimmel jokes we'd see coming a mile away, this win was the most predictable joke of the night.
What a shame for Close, EO, and the handful of other movies that didn't even get nominated over those other 3.
Close should have won. It would have been the first win for Belgium and Lucas Dhont would have been the youngest director to win Best International Feature
@@emiliobello2538 Very true on all (western) fronts.

Edward sounds like Lin Manuel Miranda.
Germany beat Argentina unlike in 2010 when The Secret In Their Eyes won against The White Ribbon

😂😂😂😂
True. EEAAO was carried by its hype.
This should have been Broker, Decision to Leave, or RRR honestly.
she says third win for germany, its not true it the fourth win after "Die Blechtrommel", "Nirgendwo in Afrika" and "Das Leben der Anderen"
PRAISE GERMAN CINEMA
All Quiet on the Western Front
Downfall
The Baader Meinhof Complex
The White Ribbon
Das Boot
Fabian: Going to the Dogs
Toni Erdmann
Stalingrad
A Coffee in Berlin
Westfront 1918
I like The White Ribbon

The Argies are still crying in the comments because a superior film won lmao
Wrong. This is Germany's 4th win
The Tim Drum
Nowhere in Africa
The Lives of Others
All Quiet on the Western Front

Antonio Banderas looks like the child of Antonio Banderas and Ben Kingsley.
No other movie was going to win it.
Where is missing home ?
DARK NIGHT

oscar goes to michelle
AVATAR >>>> its truly superior READERS BELIEVE ME
Salmita
I love how this is called best International film, but yet for some reason a good 45% it mostly just European films
Argentina 1985 should have won since it’s the only one not from Europe. The Academy loves Europe. The first movie not from Europe to win was Z.
India could have easily gotten a nomination with RRR but it screwed up by sending a different film

ARGENTINA WON AT FIFA, AT THE GOLDEN GLOBE, but it lost at the Oscars for a German movie that literally talks about the war based on a book and is a remake of the 1930 version that already won an Oscar and not a movie of real facts, IT WOULD BE VERY BUT VERY ANGRY. I already imagine the Argentines enraged against Germany. But hey, he deserved to win ARGENTINA 1985 or even better Close, which I honestly liked.
Ya se. Los argentinos no están felices con Alemania ganando

A llorar a la lloraria

That movie is nice, but its just another war movie. EO is movie with important message
What’s the message?
Should have been
Close from Belgium
Fire Of Love from Canada
Argentina 1985 from Argentina
The Quiet Girl from Ireland
Joyland from Pakistan
Winner Argentina 1985
EO is the real winner! 💚
yet another war movie wins an oscar, society of the snow should have won
