The D series engines are very weak in standard form. Luckily they are pretty cheap to get sleeved with some rods and pistons and you are good for some decent power. Hope it all goes well for you, it happens to all of us eventually!
Hi, thanks for sharing, I have come to the same conclusion, it alwasy blows the headgasket in the same spot on the back of the sleeves. The next build will have a block guard to prevent sleeve shake
I feel like stock internals can only hold up 8 psi of boost 😅maybe 9 bc you guys freshened it up but that’s it I’m planning to run 6.5 or 7 psi on stock internals y8 maybe only I’ll be happy with 175-180 hp tbh
Hi Alex, that's about what we had here, 186hp at 8psi.. but this motor just always blew headgaskets... the junkyard D15 non-vtec motor we had before ran 5.5psi with no problems. I have seen stock D16 run 10psi for a long time with no issues, so it is possible. 180hp is a lot of fun for a street setup, though, you will enjoy it
I say stick with the D, those Ds are wonky when it comes to boost so you gotta make sure and do it right, stock internals can handle 250hp but obviously you personally might wanna make more lol so just get a css block or sleeved block, vitara pistons, speed factory long rods, why? Because those rods are the same length as stock, golden eagle rods are shorter than stock rods. ACL race bearings, a good cometic head gaskit and some valve springs, stock cam is good but you can upgrade it to a BC cam , get good tuning someone who knows how to tune those things because timing is what kills those D series and bro you'll have a blast with that thing, only limiting factor would be your gear box, good luck with the build bro 🔥
@@RisingBoostYT a turbo d-series is a lot of fun and cheap but sadly the block gotta be strong enough to take it but a sleeved d-series block is very cheap and worth the investment trust me. Don't Forget when putting in aftermarket rods you gotta notch the bottom/ end of the cylinders to make clearances so the rod can have room when it's being rotated by the crank. You can always look it up to see exactly where to notch. It'll be a fun build
@@RisingBoostYT notching is very very easy, I'm not sure if the sleeved block will come notched already but the process is very easy a 5 year old can do it lol all you need is a dremel tool and that's it
Hi Richard, I know about the ignition timing and Dseries, my tune ign is fairly low, probably about 15 deg at 7psi. personally I think the issue is block related, during "run in" I was running 10 Deg at 5psi and it still blew the head gasket. I may have failing threads in my block, because my old stock non vtec motor never had issues at higher boost and ign. but thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I love the D series content. Especially from RSA. We dont see enough of it here. I'd love to see a proper D series running all of the boost
That is the plan, building a sohc that can handle some decent power without issues. This one was not it but the next one will be
Let the D step to the next level! ❤ as always thanks for the video update boost!
Next level Dseries loading.... thanks for always supporting

Yes, very true, this motor did not like the boost, but yes, the next one will be stronger
Just a simple block guard would of given you fair more headroom..d15b is the one to use if you can find one
i was gonna put a comment on the last upload asking how the engine was holding up, didn't bother as thought bad karma.
Hi, that's all good. It held up well for over a year... but we will try again until we have a bulletproof setup. Thanks for always supporting.
i think u need a block guard, should help the sleeves from moving around under high revs n boost
Hi, thanks for sharing, I have come to the same conclusion, it alwasy blows the headgasket in the same spot on the back of the sleeves. The next build will have a block guard to prevent sleeve shake
Rebuild the D series. Then dyno it. Btw great build, love it!
Glad you enjoy it, yes the Dseries will be back, stronger than before
Go for D series build. Vitara pistons with speedfacory no notch rods.
So far, building a Dseries is the most suggested in the comments, so we may just do exactly what you said...
@@RisingBoostYT yesir! That’s what I’m building now.

I haven’t seen a good vatara build front start to finish on RUclips. Get speed factory rods, ycp pistons but most importantly hand port the head
Hi Kenny, good point on the lack of vitara build content, we may just do exactly that. always wanted a D-Series that can hold decent boost!
Defo build the forged D series 😉
You know it...
Did your car have in a blockgaurd??
Forge that d16 motor❤. B16 will be a easier option for power though. 🎉
Yeah Bseries will be more reliable for boost, but forged D16 sounds like fun
What kind of waste gate are you using? I dont see a wastegate arm on the turbo
@larryp85 Hi, using internal wastegate, it's under the turbo. had to modify the bracket to allow me to clock the turbo down.
Yeah, usually if you didn't put any block guard, you destroy head gaskets everytime and in the end, your engine himself.
noticed... next motor is getting a block guard.
B swap ftw - i just did it!
Nice, next video I'll strip down the B18 to check if it's in good shape... if it is, we may
Should have used a block guard plate
Yes... The one I had at the time did not fit correctly so I left it out, next motor will have a block guard.
Repair, drive, enjoy until it brake and reapat.
That sounds about right ✅️ 😏

Thanks for the advice, I think we may just go with a long rod setup as you mentioned, be fun to have a Dseries that can handle some more power!

even the dog was upset :(
haha, yes almost as much as I was.
Vitara piston😊😊😊😊
Vitaras loading....
B18 please
In the next video, we will pull apart the B18 to see its condition... if it's good, it may go in
@@RisingBoostYT I cant wait
I own a B18 EK myself
I would like to see its potential
Your ignition timing is too high. Try lowering timing in boost
Hi Richard, I know about the ignition timing and Dseries, my tune ign is fairly low, probably about 15 deg at 7psi. personally I think the issue is block related, during "run in" I was running 10 Deg at 5psi and it still blew the head gasket. Do a b-series swap buddy, it will give some new content to the channel.
I'll pull apart the B18 next video, check the condition, if its is good we may swip it
Time to k swap
I wish.... currently that is still out of budget, but definitely later on. for now its B18v or built D16
I'll never put money into A d series again.
Very valid point... cost per hp is probably better spent on a Bseries, much more reliable under boost.
