@@sharifbutler8898 I was just in awe the whole time it was going on. The way it just keeps going when you expect it to end was probably my favorite part about it on my first listen.
@@DinglesnorfI’m gonna give you a bit of background bc you kinda hit the nail on the head here:
When making a solo for Yane No Mori, George did 3 takes for it and sent them all to Chris. Chris then told him “I think you missed the point… This track is all about grinding, trying hard, and failing. I want you to play like you are out of breath but keep walking.” So then George redid them, intentionally making things harder for himself: awkward rests, paying no mind to timing, etc.
You can HEAR that exhaustion in his work, you can FEEL it so vividly. I like how he kept that desperation and weary energy in some of the other tracks as well. And it’s exactly what you described here. Chris and George outdid themselves with these tracks, truly

This solo is so well written. The whole song builds a lot of climax and the solo delivers it perfectly. The last section on 0:58, between the chord progression and the solo itself, really reminded me of Fade to Black by Metallica in some way. It was an emotional moment for sure! (I did cry).
The song also follows a 7/8 time signature most of the time, except in some bars in between. Writing such a memorable song and solo AND making the whole thing liked, appreciated, and accessible by so many people is just outstanding work done by great minds.

hearing this in context for the first time was great but i remember thinking "huh... this is such a crazy dramatic track to be playing this early into the run, isn't it?". BUT. THEN I DO A SWEET LOOPED RUN. three people, we've looped more than once to get that stage 1 green portal, and we finally get it, we're all dying, and only just are able to get through it. getting to the penultimate stage this plays on and hearing this on that genuinely crazy intense all-or-nothing run made it click so hard (in terms of emotional placement, i already loved the song to bits at this point anyway), and it's easily become one of my favourite tracks from the ost, top three at least. this solo is genuinely so good it gets me all teary-eyed, 0:38 especially just.... wow. god do i love this track, not to sound obsessive or anything but it's one of my favourite things to come out of 2024 it's so good

This DLC may fall flat in many areas, but in terms of music it rises thicc
I want to love this dlc so much. Amazing music, the characters look so fucking cool and both seeker and false son are super interesting and powerful. 2 amazing additions to the item pool in sonorous whispers and sale star. The new stages are also amazing looking (though some are a bit hard to traverse but I personally love that as I found the older stages to mostly feel too small imo) and a cool new boss. Then it starts to fall apart when you look at chef (who is really cool but has some strange design choices that make him very unwieldy and unfun to use). Then you look at the rest of the new items which are mostly insanely terrible (though chronic expansion and those meteor and boomerang reds are insanely fun and not too bad). Then you look at the bugs and you realize that this dlc was hot trash.
All in all 10/10 $15 slop dlc would buy again.
I just hope that gearbox continues to fix the problems with the dlc (mostly the bugs and buffing/reworking the items into being good) and add some more content in the form of a new teleporter boss or two and 2 more alts for the new survivors (and hopefully a buff to chef's primary, secondary, and alt special).
