[iPHONE 15 PRO MAX - THE WINNINGEST iPHONE]
Let me be straight with ya: there are fifteen other devices on my desk that excite me more than Apple’s latest silver slab. That's because I chose a business that satisfies my predilection for novelty - and folding phones, retro recorders, and laptops that unfold into mobile workstations are much better at stoking that fire than predictable, pragmatic progression.
But that same safe iteration is what’s made the iPhone the Must-Have Device for most folks in the US who aren’t like me - normal folks who see their phone as an un-sexy necessity, like a toaster oven. Sure, Android still dominates the smartphone space globally, but beneath those anodyne metrics of percentage points traded to and fro, Americans of means long ago reached a cruel consensus: “the default phone” is the one with the fruit on the back, and the telltale blue text bubbles that come along with it. As someone who prefers diversity in devices, I don't like it (and I don’t carry an iPhone myself) … but at this point it's stupid to try to refute it.
So three weeks after I picked up my review device, it’s time to wrap up my three-video arc on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with a look at why it’s winning … and where it still has a ways to go.
[ABOUT THIS VIDEO]
This is the third in a series of videos featuring the iPhone 15 Pro Max, produced following three weeks with an iPhone 15 Pro Max review sample provided by Apple. The device received an OTA during the review process, to version iOS 17.0.3.

Pro Tip for the notification management: For all apps (or at least the apps you get the most notifications), go into the notification settings for that app in the iOS settings app and instead of having notification grouping set to automatic, try “by app” so that all the notifications for that app stay clumped together by an app by app basis instead of “automatically”
That voice isolation is insane. I activated it when I was stood in the doorway to a noisy arcade and my partner said all noises turned off apart from me. So cool.
Will this feature work in the iPhone 13?
I thought every phone has a secondary mic to cancel the noise. How is noise isolation a new feature?

One of the most well balanced reviews out there. You laid out the pros and the cons perfectly while also giving your personal opinion without stating it as fact. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to your Pixel 8 Review.
It has gotten to the point a few videos ago now that the moment I see the notification, I click and watch. You are one of 3 channels I do that with. Thank you for all your work and efforts. And congratulations on all your milestones this year. Here is to the continued success of Mr Mobile.

Being a former Windows Phone user, the occasional situation where app makers don't implement iOS features is like a little reminder that it doesn't matter how dominate you are they can still not see the value in implementing something special for one platform.
i wish windows phone can make a come back... i miss the interface and its integration with pc so much

4:11 YES! I must admit "voice isolation" is fantastic. I actually had to take a break from this video to call my bank, and my son accidentally cranked the TV 100. I quickly apologized to the banker, explained what happened, and her response to me was "Really?? Well I didn't hear a thing on my end.". Color me impressed, because I am.
I've been following your content since 2014 when you were with Pocketnow. Every now and then, I revisit those videos, which always bring back a wave of nostalgia. I distinctly recall a moment in 2015 when one of your videos was uploaded during the early hours of the morning in my country, around 3-4 AM. The notification woke me up, and I couldn't resist commenting something along the lines of "Hey Michael! You woke me up!" You responded with something I can't quite recall, but what I do remember is the excitement I felt. I eagerly shared the interaction with my family and all my friends at school. If my memory serves me right, you used to sign off your responses with ^M indicating that it was indeed you replying. Those were the days, man! I was a tech nerd kid with Android rooting and flashing custom roms and stuff. Nowdays I'm an iPhone user and have grown out of that "nerdiness" but never grew out of watching your videos !! Love, respect and kindest regards from Tbilisi, Georgia (country) ! 🇬🇪
So wholesome. Reading this comment at the wee hours of my country too, haha.
Sticking with iPhone 13 mini for now, i hope apple releases iPhone 17 mini in 2 years with minimal specs and updated soc for people like me who loves a small iPhone.
@@sunandksI want an iPhone pro mini with twice the thickness for more battery life
As an android person I dont mind the iphone being the one most people choose, but way too often android is considered the "poor people" choice because of green bubbles. It definitely makes me a bit resentful of apple.
Yep. The damage that iMessage has done to phone discourse is immeasurable.
Maybe in America the rest of the world doesn't give a shit
@@smguk2412 I knew it was better in the rest of the world but phone culture was so much less toxic in Germany while I lived there. Makes America feel very silly, amongst numerous other things😂
Gotta admit here in the States we care way too much for this nonsense silly stuff like what phone brand you use, sad but true. I wish we could stop being classified by the brand of smartphone we use or any other product-accesorie.
In the UK we do not care about such stuff as green bubbles. I use WhatsApp or Messenger for my Android friends and family. It has never been an issue. I cannot understand why it is a problem in the US?
I genuinely think you may make the best reviews on RUclips. I just love the perspective, the sharp writing and pacing, and the theme around each review. Keep up the fantastic work, Michael. The 15 Pro Max looks like a great all-round dependable phone. I prefer Android, but completely see why so many people love iPhones.
Apple ecosystem. Thats why I use an iPhone,
Always love your perspective even after a decade of following you. Keep up the great work!!
Something I'd love to see you and other reviewers cover in more detail is how well the max brightness of the screen holds up in high temperature conditions. Too often have I found devices, across all vendors, that boast perfectly readable brightness on the spec sheet and in direct light testing, yet once these devices are used in more real life conditions, where the sun heats them up for hours on end, those thousands of nits go into the low hundreds, even when the SOC isn't taxed.
Case in point, my Fold 3 was unreadable, nay, unusable in the September sun of southern Spain.
Big companies: Just don’t use the device under the sun 😂
That's a thing I do cover, when it happens. You'll notice I was out on the beach with the 15 Pro Max on a very sunny day, shooting almost non-stop for over an hour. Phone did just fine (except for the camera bug I reported, which I don't believe was related to thermals since the phone didn't heat up).
Sometimes there are oversights in my testing, or test notes are cut for time, but that's not something I would omit. Generally speaking: if it's not mentioned, it didn't happen/wasn't relevant.
@@TheMrMobile Thanks, that's great to hear. Appreciate the great content as always.
seconded. And I'd be interested in the generational improvements (if any) seen in terms of heat dissipation. Newer stuff seems to overheat and shut down faster than before.
And battery impact. Especially on those new *bright* Pixels. :)
The editing and the voice over sync with slides of photos was on point in this video. Loved it!!

Brilliant review , as always!
Thanks, Mr. Mobile!!😊
I was a diehard Android guy because of the amount of inflexibility Apple had in the past. But new additions like shortcuts, wallpaper customization from ios 16, and other user-focused features have made me fall in love with the iPhone.
Now I can genuinely say that there are many great phones out there, and to shun a phone based on brand is simply foolish.
Wisdom right here. I still prefer Android, but Apple has made large strides in customization over the past three or four years.
@@TheMrMobile I'm very glad they're headed in the right direction. I'm staying with apple for now, but those foldables you keep showing off look so exciting...
Yeah, I used to root and install nightlies and all that jazz. Had every Nexus and Pixel phone up through the 6 Pro. Switched to a 14PM last year and I can't see myself going back, especially now that iOS 17 has addressed so many pain points for me. Google just... I don't trust them to really care about or invest in their products. Every year Apple says "it's the best iPhone we've ever made" and everybody laughs, but most years google manages to take a significant step back in one direction or the other and it really just got too frustrating for me. The 8 series does look good though; hopefully things are improving over there!
There are 2 types of people: the ones who customize anything and everything and the one who just gonna use the stock UI and call it a day. I think I'm the latter. I have both the S23 and the 15 Pro max and I barely customize anything except the mute switch to shut them up.
I carry both the Pixel 7 and iPhone 13 Pro as I've started off on Android since the Motorola Droid but do appreciate what the iOS ecosystem offers (esp with media where everything is easily accessible and backed up). If Google gives me a good trade in offer for the Pixel 7 then I may upgrade it to the Pixel 8 Pro (I had the Pixel 6 Pro but that thing got hot enough to burn out the wifi chip and render mobile data intermittent and was lucky Google still gave me a full trade in price for that making my Pixel 7 very very cheap).
Another amazing video! Thank you, Mr. Mobile.
Excellent, thank you!
Great perspective, excellent writing, and entertaining... Best sub 15min iPhone review out there!

Great review!
Your mic is so good! I keep increasing and decreasing my volume to hear the difference. Very clear and loud! It adds more enjoyable experience while watching! 👌
Your videos make me want to go outside for an adventure. Great review by the way. From a Pixel user.
As a professional user this phone has been a godsend. I’m a contractor so I drive from house to house all day constantly on gps, and then I have to communicate constantly with back-end employees, and the battery has been consistently lasting the entire work day. The extra brightness is perfect as most of my work is outside. The action button has served me immensely as well for just how customizable it is with Siri Shortcuts. I’ve configured it to send emails to specific people I communicate with regularly, open common tools I use on my phone, as well as I’ve programmed in a clock-in and out feature where when I get to our warehouse in the morning it automatically sets a variable as the current time, then at the end of the day I use the action button to clock out and it record everything automatically into a spreadsheet that compiles all my data into easy to digest graphs.
I remember watching your retro videos back when you were in Richmond....been a subscriber ever since.
Best in the business, trust you more than any other reviews, honest and blunt, thanks for another great review Michael 👍👍
Hands down does the best videos. Being a primarily android user but being able to stay objective and give credit when do is the main reason I watch your videos.
Kudos my man! I really enjoy your objective tone on this review and I also share the nostalgia and passion for retro tech so I can totally relate to what you said about tech innovation. it seems that tech progress has really slowed down in recent years and it’s been a long time since last time I felt excited by a revolution gadget. anyway, another nice video. keep them coming🎉
Apple Vision Pro
Accurate about the eSIM. I regularly switch between eSIM and regular sim on different carriers (Verizon and AT&T with iPhone 15 Pro Max / S23 Ultra and iPhone 13). It's never as easy on the iPhone, unless you're doing an eSIM in AT&T (because they tend to think they only need to support iPhones when it comes to eSIM).
Then, of course, AT&T will randomly lock a phone swap for "security purposes" if you sometimes don't reply to the transfer text verification quickly enough.
Sort of like how you've described the iOS Home screen and the autocorrect, I feel like Apple goes way too far in trying to coach the user into what they want. Making things this "easy" does not help people in the long run.
Just by watching your videos, I can tell that you get the absolute most out of your devices and I find myself going back to check out a feature I missed.
Thanks again Michael for this review. For years you’ve become my GO TO tech reviewer. And no worries, I have no thoughts of changing that anytime soon. :)
Another great review that provided an in depth look at what is a good device for 80% of folks out there who just want a phone with a nice camera...

Great video Michael
I’ll always love your videos for just how balanced they are. Informative with some stellar real world examples and shots. I’m one of the folks you mention in the beginning - as I’ve gotten older my phone has become more and more of an appliance that I just need to work when I pick it up.
Sure iOS can be considered “boring” by most, but it’s that “boring” that I love and need as I find that I spend less time tweaking my phone to get it “just right” and more time using my phone as a phone. I love Android just as equally when the tinkerer in me gets that itch.
Thank you again for all your videos Mr.Mobile, I’m sticking around through the end of the year and beyond as long as you’re uploading!
That is very well said. With time I've found out I don't have the right patience anymore to tweak every detail of my phone. I just need it to always work when I have to do something. The iPhone excells at that.
Welcome to my hometown, Charleston SC. Great video as always!

Excellent reviews.
You are one of the honest reviewers out there.Thank you.
Yet ANOTHER fantastic video from the master presenter, Mr Mobile !
Enjoyable and informative. That’s all of your videos Michael. What I don’t understand(?) that much is your attitude against anything that doesn’t fold or be at least 20 years old. Don’t let me be misunderstood, I love anything retrotech (I am still listening to 80s and new retro wave music and I love 80s and 90s pop culture) and even my last phone before I switched back to iPhone (15 Pro Max) was a Z Flip 4. But sometimes, “innovation” isn’t better than the best iteration of a proven product. Take for example the build quality. I am insanely careful with my devices, to the point that are staying like day one after years of use (I have a microfiber cloth with me everywhere except the WC😅) but the one that broke this routine was my first foldable! I bought the Z Flip 4 the day was available in my region and the screen ended up today almost full of nicks and scratches by nothing! It begun with the pre installed screen protector 6 months ago and since I couldn’t find anyone that can replace it here in Cyprus (we don’t have Samsung service) I decided to peel it off. And after then the screen got a scratched mess in the area that swiped my finger the most. Not to mention the other areas that the Z Flip 4 (as almost any foldable today) isn’t nearly as capable as an iPhone or any flagship slab phone, like cameras and battery life.
As much as I like new stuff, for my one and only phone I will never trust anything but a boring, trustworthy and powerful iPhone Pro Max, with huge battery, complete set of cameras and top build quality.
So nice to see MR INLOVE ❤
I've gotten those mid-charge chimes too. But usually get it when my phone is charged past 80%. So my guess is that the iPhone stops and starts the charging periodically after the 80% limit.
Great review, you’re the best
I got mine last week and I'm loving it a lot
You’re were in S. Carolina!!!! We have Fall for Greenville coming up
Always love ❤️ your videos bro
Great video! I hope you enjoyed my hometown of Charleston!
Great video as always, thanks! Are you planning on doing anything on the Apple Watch Ultra you were wearing?
iOS notifications are bad by default but are highly customizable, you need to go to notification settings and set the grouping on all of them to “By App”, which will create one stack of notifications per app instead of multiple like we can see Instagram doing at 6:39
Using a pixel 7 pro, I feel the same way as you, I appreciate the ecosystem and the flawless features and things like airdrop. But at the end of the day I still don't think I'm ready to be able to customise my home screen, app drawer and lock screen, or give up my pixels voice recorder that makes an instant transcript of my lectures and meetings so I don't need to take notes or its at a glance which automatically sees I have a grocery delivery coming from Walmart at a specific time or to remind me its raining before I leave the house so I carry my umbrella. Do I have gripes, absolutely. The battery is mediocre at best, some apps just run better on iOS and even though it can take as good or better photos than the 15 pro max, it can't hold a candle in video especially indoors. Even though I'm not switching as my wear os and google pixel buds pro and phone ecosystem is going great. I hope that Google actually starts improving the hardware, battery and chip in tensor /pixels otherwise I'll be in line to buy my first iPhone since I switched from the iPhone 6 to a OnePlus 3t.
As always you are my favourite reviewers since the pocket now days of the original moto x or nexus devices.
Keep up the good work Michael
Just switched from p6p to 15 pro max. iOS does the “at a glance” things just as well as Android in my experience so far, at least if you give Siri access to your calendar and have it sync with Google Calendar. Sometimes it even does a better job automatically creating events for me. Sometimes worse. In both cases not big enough to be a notable improvement or hindrance.
I wouldn’t be surprised if voice transcription isn’t far off either. There’s live captioning which works as well as on Android, both for sounds from the device like when watching videos and from the microphone, and you can get voice transcriptions of audio messages you get in iMessage too.
Honestly the biggest thing I’m still struggling to adjust to is the keyboard and text editing.
Oh, and I definitely miss those frogs.
I just ordered mine.
I am from the UK so it will take a while to get here. I will let you know how it is when it gets here. It's the camera for me! Also, I like the more curve design
I am just now appreciating your video content, it's very good
Awesome review
Predictable, pragmatic, progression... Perfect description of my tech as someone who uses devices until they break .

Great video 👏
Love ya MrMobile :)
I of course subscribe to your channel, and this video was timely. My wife is upgrading her phone, and our local supplier recommended the 14 Pro Max. This was because the new iPhone's screen is fragile. It has to do with how the glass is attached to the frame. Somehow there was a change that causes the screen prone to be more breakable. This might be something on which you might want to make inquiries.
It also could be because the supplier was trying to get rid of old stock, but she has seen various reports to this effect.
Definitely not unsubscribing. Mr. Fisher you are arguably the most balanced reviewer out there. I thoroughly enjoyed your review and I say that as a guy who is Sammy through n through.
🙏🏽
Toaster oven clip, now that is a deep cut. Very good use, fitting for the Bounty.
Rich complexity surround a standard base in this most tasteful of iPhone 15 reviews. Cheers!
Respect the honesty more than anything so thank you, well done and also well done to Apple too I suppose 👏
I love the way you described what iPhones are in the US, especially if you are a person of means. It was very well said.
Regarding the phone making the just connected charging sound while being docked on a wireless charger for hours… It’s the optimized charging in effect. When the phone is on a wireless charger for awhile, it will periodically pause charging, either at 80% if it thinks the device wont be in use for awhile, or when it hits the 100% mark. Once it starts charging again, it’ll make that just connected charging sound again even though it had technically never been disconnected. Took me awhile to figure this out as well.
That make sense. I do have a iPhone 13 even tho I use androids more and I do notice that when optimized charging is on.
Yes, as soon as he mentioned that I knew what it was as I have the Pixel Tablet that does exactly the same thing on its wireless dock!
I’m an iPhone guy myself but I absolutely see the benefits of other platforms. Each side has their respective advantages in hardware and software so thank you for bringing an objective viewpoint to your reviews. I’m not the first to say it and I know I won’t be the last!
I just got the iPhone 15 pro max. I love it. But do the newer phones get screen burn in easily still for amoled displays?
I love my iPhone. At least most of the things about it. But changing icons on my home screen SUCKS BIG TIME!!!! Does anyone here remember back when you could kind of design your screen and place your icons wherever you wanted via iTunes on your computer? They need to bring that back, at the very least! Every time I try to rearrange icons on my home screen, it is an unmitigated disaster! The icons seem to have a mind of their own and literally end up anywhere and everywhere except where I want them! This is frustrating to say the least! Thank you for continuing to point this out, Michael! And thanks as always for another fantastic Mr. Mobile video!!! Cheers to you and all your subscribers!
Titanium Alloys are embrittled by Cadmium and Silver. I wonder how this will affect long term usage as the band comes into contact with these materials through everyday usage
Didn't know that - but how much cadium and silver am I coming into contact with on a daily basis? (Also, obligatory "most people put it in a case")
@@TheMrMobile Great point about the cases! As an unqualified YT commenter (no material engineer here) the cadmium may be less of an issue. While silver jewelry and tableware come to mind as common items! Perhaps these would be an edge case, but time will only tell I suppose

Great review and in 4K 60…I appreciate that.
If only they were somewhat available. My carrier says the expected delivery for new orders is mid DECEMBER. During preorder week I sat on the fence between the pro and the max. Battery tests online make me regret not going for the max.
The gold standard for reviews. You can trust MrMobile to keep it real. Great work.
Not a fan of apple products because of critical usage choices but you are the place i go to to learn about apple products to help my friends and others with any issues they may have with their apple products as far as features they may not understand and so on.
Up until the 13-series (when Apple introduced the 120hz display to the iPhone), I was the type to upgrade my phone every year. After the 13 Pro Max though…I haven’t felt compelled to upgrade at all. Can’t really say this 15-series is scratching that particular itch either.
It’s also not a “well, not upgrading saves you money, so that’s good!” situation either - for the plan I have, being on the Apple Upgrade Program isn’t markedly more expensive than just being on T-Mobile and paying a phone off monthly lol.
I should note I’ve held onto my iPad Pro 2018 for…going on 5 years now! The 120hz/ProMotion display keeps these things feeling a lot more fresh than they have any right to be. 5 years is an absolute eternity in the tech world.
0:56 Imagine how much nicer that screencap would have looked in Apollo :(
5 years is not an eternity even in Tech Industry.
You're being hit by Tech Fatigue, that's what happens to most of us and also because of tech saturation.
I'm also holding onto my 7 year old s7 edge as my secondary phone still rocking the original battery, providing 3-4 hrs of SOT.
@@Arts11234 I’m not sure who you’re trying to fool, 5 years is absolutely a long time in the tech industry. When my iPad released, the Galaxy Fold line DID NOT EVEN EXIST.
You said: “5 years is not an eternity, **even** in the tech industry.”
It honestly seems like you didn’t even understand my comment in the first place. Of course 5 years is not a long time outside of the tech industry.
The point is, WITHIN the tech world, it is.
@@I_enjoy_some_things what tech did excite you in last 5 years?
Smartphone all look and function same except folding phones but they have average camera for their high price.
Smartwatches?
No new mind blowing features except the 6 years ago Garmin made vivomove luxe with the screen hidden behind the analog watch face.
CPUs/GPUs overpriced to the neck and every other newgame release requires 3080x/4070x as the minimum requirements.
Video Games :- hardly worth the money they are asking for a sub par game except a few good releases.
Projectors/TVs :- there hardly any good passive 3d projector available even after all these years, new TVs release with just new deep colors that my 3 year old s20 can produce better than them(I know it's way too harder to make a good large screen).
Niche products :- like upgradable laptops, automatic floor cleaners their novelty dies within a few years and then we are back to old methods that worked best.
This is why new tech products Don't excite me as I've seen a logarithmic changes in this field(I'm 65 years old) but the new changes are just really small increment like your salary, gone are the days when a year we had to use phone with keyboards and suddenly Apple brings a much more polished touchscreen smartphones or the camera quality jump in just an year in smartphones.
I understood your point but couldn't articulate it properly but I still stand my statement 5 years is not an eternity now-a-days.
I'm sat watching this genuinely contemplating going back to Apple after 5 years on android.
Still undecided but as I look at trade in prices for my pixel 7 one thing that rarely gets mentioned is how the iPhone holds its value so well compared to other devices.
I love these short story sort of reviews❤
Good video, although I definitely disagree with the statement about Airpods Pro letting in background noise during calls. This has not been my experience at all, and I have just recently come over to Airpods and Apple in general from Samsung and Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. Although I still really like the Galaxy Buds, the Airpods Pro 2 are hands down the best.
it's crazy I've been watching you since the pocketnow days. your longevity is well deserved

I'll be honest, the battery has been insane after the most recent update. I moved from the 13 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max because it was free; the USB C and the change in weight was the main reason. Really surprised how noticeable the difference in weight is.
How are you finding the 15 PM versus 13 PM battery life? The 13 PM I have is a battery king, but my partner said the 14 didn't hold up, so I'm worried about switching
Yeah how are you finding the phone so far?
@@hand587 following the most recent update the battery has been incredible. Actually betters my 13

I like the fact you talk about the flaws and opinions, while showing comparisons and other options. It helps me to put things into a more full comparison between Android and iOS.
I am NEVER getting an iPhone, but I really like and appreciate the review. you give everyone and every phone a great review and show the pro and con's
i appreciate you talking about the OS bugs. They are a plenty. They even made a point of saying they improved autocorrect, but it's still just as annoying as it ever was.
