I was a SEGA kid back in the 90s, the genesis is my favorite console after the ps1, but i really must say that the Snes was in general the best 16 bit console, it was kinda the cutting edge, but funny enough it lacked stuff the Genesis had that made it look close to arcades, mostly in the gameplay aspect but sometimes even the Genesis had better graphics, overall, i would say the Snes had the graphics and the Genesis the gameplay, but really, both were feel from different moments, the Snes was more modern than the Genesis, and even when the Snes really had more games, more platformers, fighting games, beat em ups and rpgs, the Genesis had such strong representatives of each genre that people still keeps on refering to stuff like Streets of Rage, Shining Force or Phantasy Star or Aladdin, but with stuff like the latter 94-96 games the Snes showed that was more advance, mario rpg, Donkey Kong and in general the fighting games looked better, even when the genesis was more hardcore with the shoot em ups, like Shadow Dancer, Musha and others
I love that Sculptured developed the Genesis version this time around; for MK1 and MK2 it seemed like they made some strange compromises with graphics, and the music, while great, was more derivative. MK3 feels way more complete by comparison. This is going to sound silly, but the genesis version has one thing the SNES version doesn't; The arrangements sound great as far as what the Genesis could do, and one song sounds better on this system, and it's the "fight end" song for the bridge. It's supposed to be a three note crescendo, Like "DUN, DUN DUN!", but on SNES it's just, "Dur." Again, it's silly, but to me that makes ALL the difference. Graphics wise, it's the Sega Genesis... The SNES version does look fantastic by far, but if you're playing Genesis on a CRT the dithering blends, and it holds up pretty well by comparison. I find myself agreeing with your assessments here. I only recently played both games side by side. I played them on my MiSTer, but still... The SNES version does tend to feel just slightly more mushy compared to Genesis, and I was a Nintendo boy back in the day. I find myself enjoying the Genesis version more.
@@stanleyford2575 I agree for MK1 in terms of gameplay. The SNES version was dogwater and despite the Genesis version being extremely rough, I preferred it because they kept the blood and fatalities in.
Here’s the one problem with this. The way you are playing it on your flatscreen is not how they were meant to be played. They were meant to be played on a crt. If you put them on a crt, they wouldn’t be “as blocky” and the grainy visuals wouldn’t be as pronounce. Otherwise, still a great comparison.
the other side of this argument is, because he is playing both on an HD TV, it is still the same comparison of the same pixels, just in a different mode. While it isn't how it is meant to be seen, both games are seen in the same wrong way.
The Genesis always had an uphill battle in the MK games. If nothing else it just couldn't keep up video wise. a 512 color palette with 61 available on screen vs the SNES's 15 bit color space (32k colors) with 256 available on screen. I thought sculptured did a great job with this one, graphically and audio wise it was leaps and bounds above Probe's work on MK and MK2.
@@Retro_Troll The genesis looks like an 8Bit game on steroids. The audio sounds like a Fisher Price Midi Keyboard. I'll take slowdown which isn't even noticable unless you look for it over a game which looks like an eyesore and sounds like nails on a chalkboard.
@@HebrewGamer100 Exactly lol, that dude is literally repeating himself on every comment that posts SNES specs being better than SG's with MK or those who prefer SNES to the SG...I'll gladly take MK2 and MK3 any day on SNES over SG.
@@BushyStallion Unfortunately he's not a bot he's got a real channel, I just checked hes just a troll. He probably got reported by a good majority of your subs for spamming lol
I owned the Genesis version growing up. I found it pretty fun. Some of the backgrounds were atrociously grainy, like the Bell Tower and Shao Khan's Pit, but I like the fact that the game action for the Genesis version didn't shake like the SNES one; that would have given me headaches. And the gameplay was really smooth. These ports were much closer than the ones for MK2. It would be cool to hear the thoughts of Sculptured Software on their approaches for making these two games.
Although I appreciate both ports of MK3, the Sega Genesis port stands out for it's engaging gameplay. Pro tip: Use a kick dial-a-kombo on frozen ducking opponents.
Back in the 90's, I preferred Mortal Kombat series on Genesis. Mostly because I enjoyed playing/controlling with a claw grip but aside from that, I had a SEGA Nomad for portable gaming.
Claw grip definitely helps, and hey that’s awesome I had a Sega Nomad also! Last time I saw mine I was 25 years ago, I left it at girlfriends place at the time, shortly after we split up and I never got it back.. I saw that she died of Covid a couple years ago.. and I wonder if I could, ugh nevermind.
The SNES had great sound, and that's been the case with most games for both systems. Genesis did have an advantage with graphics, but it was really close, and SEGA did attempt to make each game as close to the arcade as possible. If you listen closely, the SEGA version sfx for the special moves sounded like an Atari when you're playing Galaga.
I'd love to do something like this - I think I actually have both versions now and the hardware to test on! I'll give some thoughts here too, if that's OK... I remember being excited reading preview articles for both versions. The magazines were VERY optimistic about the Genesis version, which made me optimistic too. I ended up renting both on release day. We had the day off school for something, very nice coincidence. I was excited for the Genesis version so that's the game played first. I was pleasantly surprised at things you'd think would be mundane, like character voices/grunts being present (more than 1), announcer voices, and stage music being played on the appropriate stages. Things we would usually expect, but things that somehow Probe couldn't get right in the past. Glad Sculptured got this one. The things I was disappointed in on the Genesis basically really fell to the limitations of the system - audio being sampled at half rate and combined to allow for multiple sound effects at once was great, but the part about being sampled at half rate... oof. Shao Kahn's voice added a bit of gruffness to the game, but sadly it sounded just over 8 bit quality. The color, or lack thereof - well, you can't do much about that. Genesis had a 512 color palette, and only 61 (I think) could be displayed on screen at a time. The arcade had color palettes for each fighter of 64 colors each, combined with background palettes of 128 each... Now, those weren't all unique color values every time, but there's no way the Genesis could stack up. I was surprised to occasionally run into so slowdown, mostly during auto combos on busier stages like the subway or temple. Previous Genesis MKs never had slowdown. SNES version, on the other hand, seemed more of a letdown to me. The audio TRACKS were great. I thought they did a great job getting close to the music in the arcade. Video wise, it dominated. More available colors and more to choose from. The sound effects were the most disappointing for me. They sounded muffled - that's the best way I could put it. Definitely not the grainy sound of the genesis, but still down sampled enough we lost a significant bit of quality. And there was definitely some slowdown in this one. Not as bad as previous versions, but still present. Overall I feel the Genesis had the better presentation FOR WHAT IT WAS - a console that was released 2 years prior to its competition and was near the end of its capable life cycle. It was a marked improvement over MK and MK2 audio and visual wise. But even with the SNES's disappointing showing, it was still the better port overall.
You have insane knowledge about all things Mortal Kombat you should definitely do a comparison video on an original CRT with your insights, very thorough comment dude, where I look at it from what I see and gather from playing, you actually KNOW what’s what and I respect that 🫡 thanks for the comment brother, look forward to seeing your comparison vid 👊🏼
SNES always had the better MK. I will say that MK3 on Genesis was surprisingly good. I remember when it hit the shelves in the stores, I was expecting it to be a train wreck like MK2 was. However, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Shao Kahn speak the names of the characters and all the voices that were kept. Then I played the SNES version and as soon as I heard that Subway music I was hooked. The Genesis had great games that pushed its tech, but the same could be said about the SNES. When going head to head, the Genesis put up a very good fight, but the SNES just always had that extra edge over the Genesis, ESPECIALLY when it came to sound. The Genesis could NEVER pump out a Donkey Kong Country 2 or Killer Instinct.
@@RacingPoint-io8yk Genesis MK1 was better control-wise. The SNES version did suffer from terrible input lag, but the sounds and graphics were very close to the arcade version - about as close as you could get at the time. Sub-Zero had his own individual stance in the SNES version, while Genesis did not (he, Scorpion and Reptile had the same stance) - little details like that count. Also, remember that many had to play MK1 on the Genesis with the 3 button controller as the 6 button wasn’t out at release (though I could be wrong about this). This wasn’t a huge deal, because MK1 didn’t have the combos like MK3 did, but still sort of dampened the experience a bit. But yes, Genesis version was still a solid port. It was certainly better than the disappointing MK2 Genesis version. 😂
you should have used crt filters doing this, the same on each game just to see. great videos. the mk1 arcade hack for genesis is next level and shows what the genesis was really capable of you should check that out. plus some mk3 hacks for both systems add back in characters voice samples missing stages and really show what the mk3 ports should have been on both systems
I noticed about a 6th of the SNES screen is black letterbox. Another surprising thing is Sculptured used the full resolution on the SMD port and not low res like Probe did for MK1 and 2 on SMD.. iir. But SS didn't do very well dealing with the colour limitations, or they leaned heavily into exploiting crt displays because I think this was their first Genesis game and found that a bit of an issue. Mega Drive fans would have found the game ugly. SNES players would have appreciated their version, but found the difficulty too high. I would only give the Genesis version a slight margin for having better and responsive controls and the game is moving more quickly and animating better, playing quite a bit better, despite looking bad. Overall, the design of this game is really not all that great. Midway didn't improve the game, but just kept adding things. The Super Nintendo game does not play as well, have as much play area, resolution, music or sound effects. Genesis/Mega Drive: 4.0 for having good control but dreadful presentation. SNES: 3.5 for limited screen area, not running well and input lag.
The Genesis had a better CPU. They could theoretically do more with animation than SNES. The SNES had a much better graphics architecture and color palette.
Liking this series! Love how you keep your content fresh. I also like seeing you on camera more as well. I had the snes for this and umk3 too. Snes is way better compared to the genesis.
Thank you 🙏🏽 some people can’t stand seeing me on here lol SNES being WAY better in comparison? Hmm I’m curious what the differences were to you? I appreciate the comment!
@@BushyStallion genesis was really grainy and the sfx too. I preferred how snes was smoother as i recall but voices sound muffled though. Color wise snes were brighter. Crisp.
@BushyStallion keep up the amazing work brother! The video quality and editing is very obviously getting better and better over time...getting all professional and all! Hahahah Keep killing it my man!
I absolutely loathed the Genesis version. Believe you said the SNES version was grainy, but damn, the Genesis version must be oatmeal 😂. Side note: you’d be the chillest neighbor ever. I’m a MK super fan with a full arcade room my friends make fun of me for. Love the content!
I noticed there's no screen shake at all on the genesis version. The SNES and arcade versions' screen shakes slightly during hard hits/combos and when someone falls down
Yo! My man just explained Super Nintendo sound quality so accurately. Behind a door. It really does. It's not muffled it's behind a freaking cheap, hollow apartment door
If you noticed the Genesis has more blood in it when you do the fatalities in it. Plus it controls better too & looks just as good. Going with the Genesis on this one.
SNES is better, buf dang did they do amazing on Genesis with the more limited sound and colors. Genesis music could have benefited from those additional 4 master system channels. Also, Block and Run buttons are easier to use as sholder buttons. But still awesome.
I don't think SS did as well as Probe did with MK2. Because it looks like from the four, sixteen-colour palettes available, they used three for the two characters and only one for the background. I looked closely at the backgrounds and there are quite a few latent colours, like just a slightly off brown used on about 4 pixels basically invisible. Meanwhile, the most part of the screen is huge giant colour clashing pixels of wildly different colours peppering large areas of the screen. In short Sculptured Software really did an abysmal job converting the high colour backgrounds to Mega Drive. Unlike Probe.
@iwanttocomplain I think that's more a limitation of the art style of the arcade backgrounds, vs MK2. The arcade backgrounds in MK2 were a little more colorful in Outworld, so it's a little less noticeable on the Genesis version. Especially when playing with RF connection on an old CRT. Either way, both games are great on SNES and Genesis. I always thought MK3 should have been released on 32X back then.
@@itchyisvegeta I think the run element is arbitrary. Along with a block button, your core moveset is confusing. Killer Instinct style combos do not impress me or being punched into a different background.
Fun fact: the reason SNES has the names under the life bars in MK2 and MK3/UMK3 is due to the increase in background layers/animations in those games over MK1. Still, SNES blows away Genesis, just like it does with every MK game (yes, including MK1)
@@ccvr6 essentially only so much data can be put on the screen in the same spot over certain layers. If you look in MK1 on super Nintendo, when a character does a flip, their Sprite will be in front of the life bar but behind their name. I think that putting the names under the life bars is what they did to remedy the situation.
Another important thing to mention. The Genesis version controls just as well as the SNES version, but the same cannot be said about the Mega Drive version. Genesis was only in the US, and this has a higher clock speed, which gives the edge on controls responsiveness. The Mega Drive is slightly underclocked and thus the game mechanics are a bit slowed down. The difference is really minor, but during gameplay you really feel the difference.
Genesis version impressed me with how good it looks. The sound is even good but still has some questionable sound effects. Seems like Sculptured Software should also work on the previous two MK titles for Genesis.
Altrough the Genesis version is more complete (bc it has 11 backgrounds, SNES has just 7), and both are good ports imo., but vanilla MK3 is even more arcade accurate (spoken names, shadows etc.). Whatever, my favourite MK is MK2.
I remember when we were back in High School, the coolest girls would do a Boy, Darryl vs Nick! comparison. I lost in every category possible, but you were a gracious winner as always. Darryl, what a guy!
It’s too bad they confused you with John Stamos as you got older because I remember after that you ALWAYS cleaned up and left none of the girls for me. Great times!
14:26 Something that does not come through on the vid, but was to my mind one of the most awesome sound features on the snes was stereo positioning of the characters. Why they decided to add it, I have no clue, but it was awsome... [as a visual impaired player, this was the first mk that really truly captured me for the 100 percent]

Super Nintendo controller with the L and R buttons available for a quick block, without the need to push any other button with your right thumb is an immense advantage regarding gameplay. On the Genesis/Mega Drive pushing the B button to block, really damages the experience. Very frustrating. Particularly UMK3 is quite merciless, if you're not playing with the few "privileged characters" like Noob Saibot or Cyrax, whose powers make the game a lot easier.
I do like the feel of the SNES controller better than the Genesis, and I agree with the UMK3 remark also. I’ve never quite understood the AI in that game. Thanks for the comment 👊🏼
Nope, and this is coming FROM a person that actually owned this game for both systems. Argue your console war b u l l s h i t otherwise and it will not end well for you.
@@paxhumana2015 I have more than 50 Snes games that each one is better than the entire Genesis game library, I'll give you 5 for now MegaMan X Final Fantasy 6 Chrono trigger Super Metroid donkey kong country Just a few that destroy the entire Genesis game library😉
@@davidrozone8734 , I once scored Chrono Trigger for trading the Super Star Wars Trilogy with someone else and my ex-stepfather actually found Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, and Super Metroid in a dumpster once, and they all still worked perfectly, along with a few controllers and a second SNES Mouse and SNES Mouse Pad. Between my amazing skills at bartering between people, going to flea markets, Amazon, the internet, this website, and the homebrew communities for both consoles, I could probably score 200 great games for each system, so thanks, but no thanks. Also, I probably know more about the limitations of both consoles than you do, and the last time that people argued over this issue in my presence, they learned to have a meeting of the minds, Lance Russell style. Do you still feel like arguing the matter with me now?
@@davidrozone8734 its totally subjective man. i have had both consoles since i was a kid they are still my favourite consoles of all time they are like children to me i love them that much but they both have great games the the other don't have. the donkey kong country games are legendary but also sonic 2 and sonic 3 & knuckles are legendary too. streets of rage 2 is better then any beat em up snes ever had while super mario world is just godly. nearly every sports game and disney game where better on Mega Drive over snes including all hockey football and golf games, Rocket knight was better on mega drive. then you have the 2 shinobi games, golden axe, gunstar heroes, road rash. no question about it snes has a library that goes up against any system but to say it destroys the Genesis library is just wrong they both have bangers that the other do not have. personally i don't think anything comes close to the streets of rage franchise when it comes to beat em ups not even turtles in time gets close but donkey kong country was groundbreaking when it was released and so many other snes games also. it really depends on your mood and the type of games you like, both systems have the best in class if you are a mario fan or a sonic fan with world and 3 plus knuckles. street fighter2 looked and sounded better on snes but played smoother on genesis with much less slowdown mortal kombat 1 better on genesis, mk2 better on snes, mk3 subjective. aladdin lion king jungle book and mickey mouse all better on genesis, and then snes has multiplatform games that win over genesis also. shoot em ups genesis destroys snes because of the slowdown and genesis just has more better shoot em ups that run smooth, flip side snes destroys the genesis with rpgs chrono trigger earthbound are legendary. some people might not like rpg games and some people might not like space shooters that does not mean 1 is better then the other
Also remember that the genesis was far more popular than the snes in the United States. Mortal kombat 1 and ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 were great on Genesis due to content. However Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal kombat 3 are beast on super Nintendo and show Genesis age. All the cool kids said America said bye bye Sega. At least they did not go over to Nintendo.
A few thoughts. I loved the secret menus on the SNES version, the instant uppercut recovery was fun. The sound on Sega's was rough. The SNES sound was a bit muted but was bass heavy all at once so it kinda balanced out. Sega had better music though. Graphics clearly go to SNES. Controls on SNES were the best of the series but Genesis was still the smoother. i think i like SNES more to playa human and GEN to play the AI. The REAL problem is after i got these, my SNES version became corrupted and then the PSX version came out so it was GAME OVER for these two.
I knock the Gens because of the dithering/shades to create more colors. It's a work around many late Gens games used, which works, but you can tell something is off because of it. That's why the SNES looks a little smoother in transitions from color to color. Comparatively thought, Gen MK2 and Gen MK3 are night and day. MK3 on the Gen is a far more impressive leap from MK2 than MK2 to MK3 on the SNES.
To summarize the sound comparison between the SNES version and the Genesis version, I’d say the SNES version sounds muffled, while the Genesis version sounds earraping. I’m talking about the voiceovers by the way.
I bought mk3 for genesis in a big order from funco, then umk3 when it came out. Somehow lost 3 but still have 1, 2, and ultimate. It's playable but the screen shake causes slowdown. MK2 was in my opinion a more solid port. I miss having mk3 because sometimes the towers get cluttered with ninjas. In full retrospect, vanilla mk3 is really solid at its core.
SNES is far superior check the pits stage in sega just a few nails. While snes all stage or floor and the Shaokan stage just a little saws while snes are bigger and graphics in sera looks blurred and many missing details in fonts stage and ending when you beat shaokhan
I play it both on mortal Kombat 3 because I use to play long time ago when I was little and I didn't know how to play it back then until now I still play mortal Kombat 3 btw great video Darryl 😁😄
could be age, cheap manufacturing or both. early Ramones album sleeves, End of the Century in particular, is extremely prone to wear. don't think I've ever seen a truly mint condition one honestly
Hmmm I agree for the most part about your assessment, with maybe a little scoring change. I'd probably give the SNES a 4.0 for both graphics and sound instead of 3.5. Genesis 3.5 and 3.5. For controls I'd say they are both great, but I'd give the edge to the Genesis, so SNES 4.5, Genesis 5.0. Overall I would give SNES 4.5 and Genesis 4.0. Final SNES 17/20 Genesis 16/20.
I played both however my fav was SNES.. but plenty of my friends preferred Sega.. I guess it's jus like nowadays when some ppl like PlayStation n some ppl like Xbox lol
mk3 and umk3 on Genesis were far better than the MK1 and 2 on the Gen. The switch from Probe was a good change, and it's really impressive what was done on the Gens.
Always had love/hate relation with this game. I've grown with Sega MK ports and if MK1 and MK2 in my opinion was better on SNES, for MK3 and Ultimate they pretty much both meh. Though SNES controller is much better for this game than Sega's standard 6 button controller. I actually used 3rd party controller with different button layout, which in general was better than official one.
I had genesis so I played that version for a long time until my cousin got it on snes and personally I think the snes version was better because the cheat code menus were better. Side note: who remembers going to stores to get the game pro magazine that had the cheats code menus for snes 😎
I remembered that! that magazine had everything..all the fatalities, friendship, ect I remembered I spent the intire summer just playing mk 2 with my brother and we would each take turns dieing so we can try out all the fatalities and all the secrets that the games had to offer ...those were some good times
For video sake and simplicity the comparisons are done on an emulator. My SNES and Genesis use a cable connection which looks absolutely horrendous on this TV.
@@BushyStallion I know what you mean. That's why I use the old fashioned CRT monitor. I also use the HD Retrovision cables for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo. The image quality looks so much better.
This one much closer i think snes one very close both great thoe you should do PS1 vs n64 trilogy and mk4 to.and yeah mk ultimate 3 snes vs sega genises to
yes the snes game has less resolution so on a 1920x1080 or 4k screen less resolution should look worse, less pixels tring to fill a screen with millions of pixels, a crt filter with light scanlines is the only way i can play these on tvs of today and they look great that way. these games were all designed for crt tvs with pixel blending and scanlines in mind. they were never designed to be seen as pixel perfect games the pixels blended on old crt tvs so they looked great. a good shader can solve all that no problem on these newer tvs, then add 1 frame of runahead lag and you are golden

For me I don’t wanna sugar coat some of these games. MK3 to me was the beginning of the end for the series and its downward spiral. We love the competitive aspect of these games; however other fighting were innovating at the time. There wasn’t much orginality to MK3 and a lot of staple characters were gone; it often feels goofy and rushed and let’s be real was a balancing nightmare especially kabal. Giving a version that I prefer and honestly think is crisp in graphics and gameplay is being nice. I wouldn’t even consider MK3 as a good mortal kombat game at all.
I had the PC version. Flawless victory ;-) MK3 is great. But most MK fans are obsessed with Ninjas, and the only one present on 3 is an unmasked Sub-Zero. That's why UMK3 is pretty much a Ninja party.
The screen doesnt shake like the arcade on the Genesis. The SNES felt, looked, and sounded just overall better. If the genesis is any smoother gameplay wise, it's only because they took out so much making it lacking in too many departments.
I respect this opinion, I think the screen not shaking is actually what gave the Genesis the “smoother” gameplay perhaps, as it makes you feel more in control. Good eye though catching that I didn’t even notice. Thanks for the comment bro 👊🏼

🤷♂️ why do i ❤ the way this man says "Allright" at beginning of each video!????? 😊
I’m not sure but I appreciate the comment Mike lol 👊🏼
I was definitely a Sega kid growing up and would prefer to play this on the Megadrive but I do think the SNES had a better controller.
The versions are much closer to each other than MK2. Still have to say SNES looks and sounds better.

Excellent review between both. I like both versions
I agree completely with your review sir! Thanks for the video! Really like this MK home console review series!
I like both versions the Sega Genesis and the super Nintendo of Mortal Kombat 3 plus ultimate Mortal Kombat 3..
I always preferred Snes. I think the sound on the Genesis sounds like it’s coming from a blown up speaker 🤷🏻♂️
blown up speaker or NES/ Game boy sfx like when sub zero shoots ice
That analogy is perfect. 100% agree.
Anyone who prefers the Genesis sound probably thinks Five Finger Death Punch is a good band
@@lprice85lol
That’s a decent comparison actually 👊🏼

When Sub Zero does a freeze on sega it sounds like he’s casting a magic spell 🤣 SNES is a lot cleaner.
BS . MK 1 on genesis was much better then on SNES.
I respect this breakdown and comment, thank you for sharing, shows your passion for the games 👊🏼

1. lesser resolution
2. bigger black bars at top and bottom

I Got The Genesis Version on Christmas of 1995 Good Times
Almost 30 years ago, can you believe it?
@@BushyStallion Crazy Time Flies
Graphics sound fonts stage and more details than sega
MK3 SNES version wins again.

I noticed there's no screen shake at all on the genesis version. The SNES and arcade versions' screen shakes slightly during hard hits/combos and when someone falls down
I think SS did a pretty shoddy job for the Genesis version.
Close scores! 😮
UMK3 next? Those games had some really fun secret codes.
Absolutely, maybe I will include the secret codes on the next one 👊🏼
@@itchyisvegeta I don't think MK3 did as well as MK2. They overcomplicated it I think.
@@iwanttocomplain I'm curious what you mean by Overcomplicated it?
@@itchyisvegeta I think the run element is arbitrary. Along with a block button, your core moveset is confusing. Killer Instinct style combos do not impress me or being punched into a different background.
Fun fact: the reason SNES has the names under the life bars in MK2 and MK3/UMK3 is due to the increase in background layers/animations in those games over MK1. Still, SNES blows away Genesis, just like it does with every MK game (yes, including MK1)
That is interesting, I think someone mentioned that with MK2 about the layers. I appreciate the comment 👊🏼
Elaborate please?
If only they had, would’ve been cool to see 👊🏼
Altrough the Genesis version is more complete (bc it has 11 backgrounds, SNES has just 7), and both are good ports imo., but vanilla MK3 is even more arcade accurate (spoken names, shadows etc.). Whatever, my favourite MK is MK2.

It wasn’t more popular in the us. They were close, but the snes was ahead about 2 million. Worldwide the snes slaughtered it.
there wasn’t much sound on the mk1 it seemed there was more voice work from mk2 onwards
Wow, the genesis graphically improved from mk1 and mk2 on the genesis.im very impressed.

I bought mk3 for genesis in a big order from funco, then umk3 when it came out. Somehow lost 3 but still have 1, 2, and ultimate. It's playable but the screen shake causes slowdown. Snes had way better graphics
SNES sounds muffled a lot. Genesis sounds very clear;
SNES is far superior check the pits stage in sega just a few nails. While snes all stage or floor and the Shaokan stage just a little saws while snes are bigger and graphics in sera looks blurred and many missing details in fonts stage and ending when you beat shaokhan

Mega Drive all the way, interactive backgrounds, more stages, more frames of animation and music that actually has base.
There are no more stages in the Mega Drive version. This is Mortal Kombat 3, not Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.

SEGA
The screen doesnt shake like the arcade on the Genesis. The SNES felt, looked, and sounded just overall better. If the genesis is any smoother gameplay wise, it's only because they took out so much making it lacking in too many departments.
I respect this opinion, I think the screen not shaking is actually what gave the Genesis the “smoother” gameplay perhaps, as it makes you feel more in control. Good eye though catching that I didn’t even notice. Thanks for the comment bro 👊🏼
Super Nintendo was way better
I usually agree with you on these things but the snes version clearly looked better. Yeah both were grainy but holy 💩 was the genesis version grainy.
Yeah I wish I had a working CRT to see if there is infact a difference but, nope. I agree it looks grainy but I felt it gave it a more dark atmosphere. I appreciate the comment 👊🏼
