Ale's right about Santi being taken out at the wrong time, but what I think he didn't notice was that Memote was already waiting on the sidelines ready to come in before Santi had his two good plays. The change was already locked. Mexico have to review what they did to finally get their #9 involved in the game, so they can start doing that sooner next time.
I swear bro, it’s like the other players have something against Santi. They just refuse to send him a through ball or a cross. First play Memote gets involved they send him a nice through ball, the rebound that led to the gol was off a rebound from a Memote header.
@pablorogel4767 yeah, the only time they started giving Santi service was after the Jamaica offside goal. It's like the rest of the team woke up and thought ,"oh s***. We're going to lose if we keep going like this."

I don’t know why they keep playing with one striker. I think they need a 442 with two strikers on top. Especially with how much Mexico is struggling to score.
Jamaica is in the easiest group, thus having the best possible chance of progressing, yet Leon Bailey acting like a spoil brat and missing the opening game because of a party. Crazy stuff

Romo doesn't do anything out of this world. He's just been consistently mediocre. You give credit where it's due and acknowledge that he had a good game vs. jamaica, but that still doesn't change the fact that he's mediocre.
@rompeculomayor mediocre is good for the pool of talent Mexico currently has and they need to accept that until others prove otherwise. Players like Martin, Vega, Romo should be apart of the national team in big tournaments until others prove otherwise

Jamaica's win draw loss record of 0-0-7 makes no sense with 4 Copa appearances. Im all for Venezeula winning the Copa America, if the USA, Argentina, or Uruguay dont.
Mexico can not handle and has never been able to handle a team with pure athleticism and decent skill. The athleticism alone puts Mexico on their heels. The only reason Mexico beat Jamaica is because Jamaica has pretty much ZERO skill. They rely 98% on their break away speed, in order to counter. But they can't make any critical passes or coordinated attack. They make more errors and turn overs, and then try to quickly contain using their speed. That is why Mexico won, because Jamaica kept giving them the ball. But the minute Mexico have to face an athletic team (more than their own athleticism) with descent skills - Mexico is in trouble. Compared to Jamaica, Mexico is much lower in athleticism - but much better in skill. But now make the same comparison with the current US team. The US is slightly less athletic than Jamaica (not by much) - but the US is still more athletic than Mexico by a substantial amount. So Mexico loses to the US in that department. And in the pure skill department - the US is on par with Mexico in 2 out of 3 of the major skill sub-departments (defense and set-pieces). Mexico is slightly better in the attack dept, but not because they have superb strikers. Yes, Mexico strikers are slightly better..., but not due to pure "striker" skills. Their strikers are slightly better because Mexico has better Passing. Quicker and crisper passas than the US - just enough to catch the US off shape in certain transition moments. But that one department Mexico is slightly better at - it is still not enough to handedly beat the US consistently anymore. And this young US team is getting better in the passing department. In other words, the US is still growing and not at their peak yet. When that happens (and it is happening sooner rather than later) - Mexico will be toast. Basically, the only thing hold back the US is their head coach situation. Imagine how much better they will be once they trash Berhalter and get a truly respected and recognized international head coach. Mexico barely won this game against Jamaica (who even give the US fits at time due to their pure speed).
