Manny did amazing in this - he took Andy on and gave him a real run for his money! I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, seeing Andy run is so inspiring and I’m in awe. It’s like watching a dancer on stage - even when he says he’s struggling, everything looks so incredibly smooth and easy. I really enjoyed this video, nice take on the review videos TRC usually does with all the specs and talking to the camera. Loving all of the content you folks are pushing our at the moment, keep it up! ❤️
This was so fun to watch! I love hearing all the stats and getting some analysis, it teaches me so much (I don't have a watch that can analyse all of those things!). I only started with Couch to 5k last October and I just ran my first 10k race at the weekend. Even though I'm slow, I'm so proud that I achieved a PB of 1:13:48. I can't imagine being this fast!
Great video! The novelty challenge videos are fun, but I really really like these videos where there is a challenge element or a fun hook, but also a deeper dive into stats or the science of running.
Goodness gracious!!! That is just utterly insane!!! 10km in 35 minutes!!! I couldn't come close to that in my wildest dreams!!! Very intriguing analysis too by the way. I gotta say, there are such things as superhumans!! The fact that both of you covered 10km very comfortably under forty minutes means that the both of you safely belong in that category!!
Wow amazing 10km pace and really interesting analysis. Thanks. I wish I had the enthusiasm for running but have gone off it this year.. still doing a few half marathons and other races to give myself some targets. I imagine we all experience some running ruts from time to time.
Great race! Yoi both went out so hard! I would love to see a more measured 10k to compare and determine if you're stats change less drastically and your form stays pretty consistent. (I imagine that would be the case, but I'm curious how different it would be ultimately.)
This is one of the best things I've ever seen! I use Garmin HRM Run and was curious how my run dynamics looks like compared to elite runners and now I have the answer :-)
Sorry if I missed it, but to both guys, how close were these results to your most recent 10K races? Manny that took guts, taking on a Common Wealth Games Champion! Your smack game is Gold Medal worthy!😁
Great video. Loved the explanations of the Running Dyanamics data and what certain metrics can tell about your running and muscular/tendon activation. A dedicated video on this could be useful for HRM-Pro users.
Thanks Kent, we haven't had a specific video for that device but we do reference it in this video, ruclips.net/video/FoDDN7T5whY/видео.html if that helps?
The Running Channel thanks, but i was thinking more along the lines of Manny's breakdown of running dynamics and how GCT and stride length changes translate to different things to consider. The link to heart-rate was also useful though.
Loved the 'stats', super interesting...and yowzers, you two are fast! Great work from you both. Not sure, but what about Anna and Sarah do the same challenge? Not sure whether they are similar enough in ability to make it fair?
Congratulations to both of you on your finish times. I really enjoyed your post race commentary as we watched you run as well as insights on GCT and other performance stats.
Thanks, that seems to be a highlight for people. It insightful to hear how elites athletes can measure their performance and critique their own efforts.
Loved this video, hearing the analysis while watching the run is the best way to go, learned some new info watching this, thanks👏 would like to see more like this please👍
Simple idea but a great video. Really interesting to see the data behind it as well. I have a Garmin myself and look at stuff like cadence and stride length but haven't paid too much attention to the other metrics.
It's runners like you two that make getting the top spot on a Strava segment longer than 300m almost impossible. (I still have a sub 11second 100m time) If I get my 5k to under 20mins I would be very happy, if I get my 10k below 40mins I would be...on a bicycle.
The first thing I saw early on was that Manni pulls harder w his right hamstring, causing the left contact time to be so high. The height of heel lift is directly proportional to angle of falling. The same amount of effort (very little) is used to pull up the foot at all speeds, it’s just more gravity flowing through the system forces an increased range of motion. But the speed difference was simply due to sustained fall angle aka lean. Who can hold the line
I found the technical discussion about the metrics very interesting - especially given that Andy is an ex-pro. I'm sure we all have a stronger leg so how do we try to rebalance? Pistol squats? Technical runs in which we consciously try to correct the imbalance whilst looking at the metric on our watch? I loved the trash talking by Manni too! 😂😂😂
Great video just a pity it was only 10 minutes long as I was enjoying it so much and I was disappointed when it came to an end. Nice camera work too, I give it five 👍
😱 Yesterday I ran my fastest 5k and 10k ever! I was so happy. I _WAS_ so happy. Manni is a full 20 minutes faster than me! In my defense, I'm running at 600 meters in altitude, cover 218 meters in elevation gain... and I'm 60. I'm really curious on how I would perform at sea level on a flat track. There is no way I can run in 30° weather. Anything more than 13° my performance crashes.
NO spoiler who won the race itself but we know who won the trash talk warm-up🤴🏿😂. RACE: Great pace 🚀🚀(far outside my ability). CREW: lots of effort put into filming from all sorts of angles and perspectives, cutting, and I enjoyed your post-race dissemination chat very much, too. WATCH: I cannot afford such a watch but the health benefits of the left-right-balance and vertical movement sensors are undoubtedly worth their money. Having legs of slightly different lengths I notice the negative effect on my muscle chain, hips and back on long runs. Want to run more "leveled" and even and that data could aid in finding insoles of perfect height and tailor Strength&Conditioning workouts to the weaker side. On all my runs I pay attention to limit vertical movement and stride length/cadence to reduce stress on my body. One's got only one body and one health, with or without watch. This clip showed very well why those high-end watches could really be considering and worth working some extra-shifts to fork out the money. Stay healthy, y'all!
Excellent video production and editing. Perfect to get a dynamic insight to performance and comparison. Does the chest HRM provide the ground contact data and the vertical oscillation? If so it is a clever piece of kit. Do you find you can change your left/right balance to correct the bias as you run and then see the response on the data? Well done to the whole team.
You can adjust balance based on feedback through the watch but it's difficult to manage throughout the run. It is usually more effect when you're analysing post-race, to see which side you're favouring.
Brilliant video! I found the stats stuff very interesting and informative. Is there any way you could do a best running form challenge, with time irrelevant?
Thanks Jon, glad you liked it. And for the suggestion too, it's definitely something that we could look at. How we make it into a challenge is the next question!

Running Form Videos - Great idea. Would be so helpful to avoid injuries. Once I heard AND felt someone coming up on me from behind as thunderous as an earthquake, on hard asfalt. "He will have no knees and hips 10 years from now" was all I was thinking in disbelief. Why do people destroy their bodies so mindlessly? I'll never understand.
Seeing that 5.0 on Aerobic training effect made me laugh. I had that pop up for me this weekend doing my last long run before a half marathon, and I felt pretty good. That device is pretty neat though. I could probably use it to help my running form.
Great video! I assume it was a cross training day for Sarah??? This video was much better with regards to not being a advert for Garmin. Was useful seeing what it actually does and the stats from it. But great video and WOW what good times! I can only dream of those!!
Running Channel Love the video, awesome massive thumbs up. Love to see a rematch. (That would be awesome) 30 seconds head start for Manni, same distance (10km race) How would Andy try and close it down, close it down from the gun, or would Andy try and gradually close it down. Who knew Manni was the king of trash talk! 😆 Great job to you both, and congrats to Andy! Loved the data, it's almost too bad it doesn't talk (yet), like "faster off your left foot" or something. I'm sure it's coming...
This just reinforced what I've already believed... My stride length is a bit too short and vertical oscillation too high. I'm convinced it's due to poor push-off strength so I'm relying on bounce instead to driving forward. Pretty interesting stats, though. Thanks for posting.
Manni uses the Garmin Forerunner 945 and Andy uses the Garmin Enduro. If you're interested in learning more, we did a watch review earlier in the year that you might find useful. ruclips.net/video/a9NL-B7yS-Y/видео.html
Manni sounds like one of the most polite trash talkers I've ever heard.
A real class act
I love watching Andy race. He’s so humble. No smack talk, claps in his opponent. He just puts in the work and smokes everyone🎉

Most of the stats came through the HRM pro chest tracker but Andy wears the Garmin Jura and Manni wears the Garmin 245 Forerunner.
What's a garmin jura? I see they are a watch dealer in the uk but it seems they sell most of the garmin models.
That was great. Two killer athletes all out!
