Ive built teams that do very well and have gotten low scores from pvpoke ive also built teams that have done well and gotten good scores on the site. I feel like pvpoke is a good starting point however, even the creators put a disclaimer that its not very accurate when it comes to rating non meta teams. Overall a good starting point but you may be better off disreguarding it if you want to run any spice teams
Catch Cup team building guide: - Barboach, Jigglypuff spotlight hour - Skarmory from GBL rewards - G-Stunfisk from eggs - Double com-day - anyhting else that costs low sd and you have
Also Galarian Zigzagoon from GBL rewards, check the IVs but if they are low enough it will evolve to an Obstagoon just under 1500cp at level 20, and it only costs 10k dust to give 2nd charged attack.
This was definitely helpful as a new pvp player. I’ve been running skarmory, 100% IV dragonair, and Alolan Ninetales and have been doing super well in the catch cup
This was probably hands down the best video on team building that I've watched. I love PvP, but have struggled at being mediocre pretty much my whole time and have wanted to get better. Doing team building this way has helped my ELO a ton and helped me understand my own weaknesses, blind spots, etc. Thank you so much!
For anyone who doesnt know, there is an option on the team building section where you can show shadow pokemon as well and how your team will match up with them. It's right under Great League in the Advanced drop down menu. Also helps to broaden from the top 20 to top 40 to get a better idea of what your team can handle
Very helpful video for someone not trying to spend hours on hours trying out diff Pokémon! Thanks for making this much easier and explaining the pvpoke resource!
The older version of this video was one of the first videos that I watched when I was starting with PvP and it has improved me a lot. It remains one of the most relevant video on PoGo PvP to this date. More power to you Zyonik! You're the best. ❤️
Thanks for this guide, man! I personally don't need it anymore, but I knew that when I started, it took me a long time to find out how to assemble a team that can compete with all these awesome teams you see in the meta, may they be original ones or adapted from popular content creators. It's so much more fun to go head to head with those builds with a team of your own creation, and videos like this help newer battlers to arrive at that point sooner.
I still remember the days wherein, my only advantage to my enemies in the tournament is, I have a chart of moves, like are they good or bad? something like that, but now, almost everything is now everywhere😆
This guide was very helpful, thank for this. Im a long time Regular Pokemon player and when i started to play the pokemon go i heard about this archetype but i couldnt find some good content about it. Good luck with the channel, im already a fan.
Yess, that's what I've been looking for. I still have the team building precepts from the main aeries, so I have no idea how to build a team, thanks for this guide, now I can take my limited roster and make a team for PVP
Frm what I know, the pvp IV ranks for only those species which max out at or around CP bounds(like Azumarill and Sableye for great league) will get affected. The ranks for species which max out far above those CP bounds won't be affected at all(like Skarmory, maxes at some 2k CP, so it's ranks won't be affected for great league)
Zyonik, absolutely love your guides, I have seen almost all of your videos and love your content! Could you please, please change the background music, its the exact same for every single video and its the only thing i can hear after watching most of your videos :') Thank you for all of your content!
This guide is really cool, thank you. My favorite type is Bug Type, and I really hate seeing the same meta all the time, and I'm constantly trying to find counters. It's such a huge stardust investment. But this gives me some very helpful tips in team building! I think Parasect is my favorite bug to throw in my mix. I just wish it didn't have hard counters with the Ice typing. But it will occasionally really throw people off!
This guy zyonik got me from rank 7s to rank 8/9s past seasons. I've watched the previous video where it taught me exactly the same thing. Highly recommended this guy and he will name drop other content creator. So make sure to subscribe to learn otherwise thanks for the wins
I came back to Pokemon Go during the Halloween Cup and immediately loved the PvP. Your channel has been super helpful in getting better! Awesome guide!
Great analysis! Yup, that Skarmory and Azumarill core is tough to break apart. But one thing I can't agree with is that Electric types haven't really disappeared- Galvantula is still a popular pick with cover for GFisk in the back. I myself faced lots of them last season.
Great video as usual. I have some questions though. I felt the biggest take a away from the video was building a team around a weakness that's more or less absent in the meta, but is there a way to definitively research this? For example, was it just experience that led you to know there was no lighting in the high ratings, or was it a choice made from understanding the pvppoke ranking, or is there a way to search meta pokemons around your rating? Lastly, if you knew there was no lightning, wouldn't making a team with lightning lead to even more success? Thanks for the awesome content. Cheers
I love how pokemon go can allow certain pokemon to thrive If you had told me a year ago that Galarian Stunfisk would be meta-defining in ANYTHING I wouldn't have believed you I still barely believe it
Hey! Thanks for the great video! Is it possible for you to make an advanced team building guide where the lead Pokemon has more than one weakness to cover? I’m struggling to build an effective team where there are several weaknesses.
Iv found a solid team for catch cup which id love for you to showcase on your channel, seaking, gardevoir and roselia, seaking with waterfall and ice move handles the flyers well, aswel as the fire types, then roselia can handle the electric boys and gardevoir charm can handle alot, i was messing around with teams and went 5-0 in 2 sets at rank 8.
I use a similar team as yours, except I use a confusion Cresselia, with grassknot and moonblast or whatever the name is, confusion Cresselia has a lot of the same covers as skarmory, but With the grass knot, it doesn't get absolutely walled by a gfisk and is covered by the dark types with moon blast, and the other 2 pokemon
I'm finding this strategy of double covers very good for me. like jirachi double dark. Skar double grass etc. I personally find these teams best to play with.
From my experience the only teams comps that are actually working if you dont want to go full top meta are involving a lead that has not many weakness overall but one 4x weakness. The great algorithm of Niantic will make you face that 4x weakness as lead at least 50% of the time. So both of my other pokemons are strong against this type, so i can switch to counter them, they switch too but i am not doomed since i still have another pokemon to counter that bad lead. Example : Obstagoon lead super weak to fighters and not great against azu, so hypno and wygglipuff in the back to destroy those fighters and have decent matchup against azu
Hey man! How are tou doing? I’m new to the channel and a returning player to the game. I’m loving the battles and since that’s my main objective while playing, I’ve been watching most of your videos. However, I’m usually lost with all the terms and would appreciate a video for true beginners covering all the vocab and basic concepts!
Zyonik what about vigoroth, it does not have the bulk to it as hypno but it covers a lot of meta pokemon such as registeel,bastiadon,G-stunfisk and the bodyslam spam is of great use. My team going to be whiscash, vigoroth and skarmory.
I want to know how to choose good pokemon, I already know the type coverage and that stuff. I need to know if POGO uses IVs or EVs as regular pokemon or dont. I also want to know about the pokemon LVL, is it like regular pokemon where all of them are set to 50 to be a fair match? or should I over level my pokemon to match strong trainers? Is it better to have 1 strong move that takes long to charge or a not so strong one that charges faster? Is there a limitation for legendaries or a ban list or some sort? Thats the kind of info im looking for, but cant find anyone talking about that stuff
I always just throw stuff in and see if it works. Somehow I hit rank 10 this season and two rank 8s in the previous ones. 🤣 I don't know how I made it this far.
Great video! I never thought about running the team rating with just one Pokemon to see its weaknesses. Let's see what it thinks about my Azu + Altaria + Sirfetch'd team :))
@@ikhsankurniawan2141 Unlock a second move and use it anyway. I've been running a shadow machamp in the Great League with Frustration and Rock Slide. Can't shield bait, but ultimately alignment's more important for shadow machamp, anyway.
What about your opponent? I get it when you win lead, or your opponent doesn't know how to build a team. In your example, losing lead to venusaur. Their cover could be a rock (for most flyers or fire) type, and their safe swap dark. So no matter what you swap to you will still be hurting. Am I missing something?
Where do you get the time to go out and catch strong Pokémon with a good move set and enough Pokémon to get enough candies/star dust? And I ask this because a majority, of not all, your videos are you inside going over battles or e battles of others.
I just created a team, Its Venusaur as the lead with all the favorable moves, a lapras as the cover with all its favorable moves, and a galarian stunfisk as the cover again with all its favorable moves.
i am confused you stated a safe swap was for a lead loss. makes sense so you said skarmory was good for a lead loss with whiscash but then make him a cover? i thought safe swaps were for lead losses?

@Zyonik it’s great 😊 btw I saw your podcast on danielznyiri’s channel it was also awesome 😎
