To call this ugly after being embraced by the automotive industry so strongly to this day....is moronic to say the least. Its a work of art, the GT40 was NOT a good car for the price don't kid yourself its not reliable nor completely track worthy compared to the competition without mods. A little homework on your end is clearly needed

This will always be my most favorite car of all time. The design of the car was ahead of it's time, the 48 valves (the only other car that comes to my mind, is the Vyron that has 16 cylinders and again 4 valves per each and making 64 valves in total) engine combined with the four Garrett AiResearch T2 turbochargers, WOW. Ford proved that if they wished to build an exotic car they could do it just as well, if not better. Sad that this never went into production, I wish they did ! ! !

jeremy this was our like 4th attempt at a eurofighter of a supercar. the Viper was unruly front engined nonsense and the Corvette didn't know how fast it wanted to go at the time. they teased us endlessly with mid engine concepts up to the mid-90s, plus you had to send cars away to people like Callaway to be modified, so it could stack-up against a stock Diablo or what have

I remember sitting in the dentist office waiting room and this was in a Motor Trend issue. It looked so wild then, now it doesn't look as wild but it still looks impressive, more impressive that it's 20 years old so way ahead of its time. I remember it was very angular, all white and that they took two V8's and cut the last two cylinders off and welded them together for a V12. Hadn't looked at the GT90 since. Angles are out now, so it wouldn't work today. Can't believe Ford didn't put this into production then, guess they got cold feet. It was just a statement but nothing to back it up. Didn't realize it was in Top Gear, nice! That GT40 is so small.

Just because of Jeremy nagging about the GT40 being based off a European made car (Lola MK6), Ford decided to bring the "GT" back to Le Mans in 2016, 50 years to the date when the original MKII GT40 claimed its first overall victory there.
and with that, they took 1st place in GTE, ahead of the, ahem, Ferrari 488 in 2nd.
    Take that Jeremy!
