    Just a little tip: If you’re making this for someone who is 6’+ and they like their feet to be covered in the blanket, you gotta make it at least 2.5 yards. I made one that was 2 yards for my 6’4 boyfriend (perfect size for me but I’m 5’2) and it’s too short for him so I made him a new one that is literally nine feet long (3yds)

      Very Nice, But I think I would cut only 2 inches , out of it for the fringe, because Otherwise it seems to make the blanket a lot smaller. & I made a Large one from Joanne's Fabrics I ended up Having it sewn all the way around, with no fringe at all, because I thought the person I was giving it too wouldn't want the fringe in their face. Nor would I want that for a baby , having fringe in their face. It's Very Cute With the Fringes but not always Practical

    Took hours because, after washing the fleece, I had gotten the last of two different fleece designs and so had to tidy up the ends. Here’s final product. Gorgeous. Knots are a terrific way to avoid sewing. Didnt measure the strips but had measured cutting out the corners. Turns out beautiful. I think next time I’ll do six inch. Easier to get ahold to turn. Thx sooo much for sharing so clearly!
    Chose a green and black plaid for one side and a wonderful deer and moose and evergreen red and white other side.

    Great tutorial! If you wanted to make it round or oval and stuff it for a dog bed, you wouldn't need to cut out anything, would you? I'm trying to picture it in my head and for some reasonI can't think of a reason why you would need to but I wouldn't have thought about cutting the corners out of a square or rectangle either. 🤷🤦

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  4 года назад +3

      You wouldn't need to cut out corners, but the round edges will make your tabs wider at the top. To fix that, you'll need to cut out wedges like I did with the curves on this mermaid tail blanket: cutesycrafts.com/2018/11/no-sew-fleece-mermaid-tail-blanket-pattern.html

  • @tristand1243

    great instructions exccept I don't understand what you mean near the beginning when you put the measurerer across the corner and you say to make sure you have whole numbers. do you mean that at 5" it should measurre in whole numbers? i understand why you would want whole numbers but I am not sure what it is that I am measuring at that point. Love these blankets and can't wait to make some,

    • @CutesyCrafts

      When you cut the blanket's overall dimensions. That way, when you cut the fringe, you aren't left with like half an inch piece of fringe on the end. Make sense?

      There is different thickness of fleece. Make sure and pick the higher priced thicker fleece for a heavier blanket. The other option that might work is using 3 layers instead of two. If you try this I would cut your strips at least 6 inches (instead of 5) because it will give you more space to loop and knot the three strips at once which may be more challenging.

    What do you do with the corners? What happens to them? I love this video though :)

      The corner you cut out disappears, since you’re tying knots up to each edge. The fringe starts on each side. I guess you could use the 5x5” scraps for other projects?

    How do you tie the corners?

      You cut the corners out completely

    So I cut the 5.5 off the sides regardless of what size blanket I’m making?

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  2 года назад

      Yes. That number is to make the size of the fringe and doesn't have anything to do with the size of the blanket.

    Can you wash it after and will it make the knots fall out?

    • @CutesyCrafts

      Yes, ours have been washed and dried and came out fine, with knots intact.

    Question would a baby size blanket be the same as a toddler size? So 1yard of each coordinating fleece?

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  3 года назад

      Yes, I think you could use the same. If you want them to be able to use it a little longer, then a yard and a half.

    2 yards for a small adult you’ll want to get 2 and a half yards or so for around 6 foot adults because the 2 yards feels like less after cutting and doesn’t cover your feet like you need haha also look for technique where you cut a slit on each tassel and weave them through each other. Gives a nice braided look

    Question: if you have 1 1/2 yards for a child, would the corners be 4 x 4?

    Do you think I could use like a sheet material?

    • @CutesyCrafts
      @CutesyCrafts  3 года назад

      You can only use fabric that won't fray. I've tried it with fleece and minky. You might be able to use a knit jersey cotton (t-shirt fabric). I think some sheets are made of jersey cotton, so that MIGHT work. It would have to be that stretchy, t-shirt like fabric though.
