I agree you can also add lemon zest into the mix before baking for added flavor as well as a little almond extract or vanilla extract great for strawberry shortcake
It’s flour but it’s flour that has cake flavoring, salt, , backing soda & baking powder. Just those two last things can RUIN a cake if not measured correctly so it helps that it’s already measured and mixed
