- We had no idea how much commotion was going on in the back of the theatre. Thankfully, a fan submitted a video of the altercation. Unfortunately, she is the one who got punched (which is why her video cuts out).

10:20 You know, this is why I keep coming back and this is why I consider you the best entertainer curretly on the scene: Your compassion and empathy shine through. I grew up in Seattle and yeah, when I was young you would get THROWN out of a place, so idk what those bouncers were gettin paid for but they ain't bouncers worth a dime ask me. Well done!
@@aick The reason bouncers are less physical these days is because of liability; nobody likes to be sued. Even a frivolous lawsuit costs money to fight, so it's easier and cheaper to avoid putting yourself in a situation where they might sue. Getting physical is a HUGE risk factor in that calculation because in addition to her already being a Karen, she could have some medical condition that could increase her risk of injury. The only winning move is not to play.
I really thought that you were click baiting with that title, but nope. That happened...
@@aick same, I was like "oooowww", nice save lol
Thank you for what you said at the end there, calling out the kid glove treatment and the reasoning behind it, thank you. 8:35
i always love seeing Steve be so compassionate, he can rip a Hecklers throat out but, he is seemingly a really kind and empathetic guy to hope (The Cry for Help Guy) that he’s doing okay and say that he appreciated him being at the show and participating during the Q&A. That’s really cool of him.
I totally agree! Steve is such a good guy... just don't fuck w him and you'll be good lol that was super sweet of him to add at end end of the clip! I love showing love/supporting this guy! 👏👏👏
He was bullied a lot as a kid and (to nobody’s surprise) turned a negative into a positive. You can definitely see there’s a real person in there and the authenticity in there.
Seems like a good dude that I wouldn’t want to ruin his show.
@@fightclub6291 Yeah, and what really makes me respect him even more is that he didn’t turn that childhood trauma of being bullied and turn it on someone else in adulthood like so many sadly do, in fact his book, “Ginger Kid,” is up next on my reading list.
What about the punched woman though ? Lol
@@DocM. Dang! Sounds like you have way more stories to tell... It's unfortunate that Steve acted that way but like you said, maybe it was just an off day or something. I met him in Milwaukee and off stage he was actually a decent guy, at least for the little time I got to meet and talk to him. He sells (or did at the time at least) a card, a digital access to multiple sets and it costs I believe $25. That's already discounted but he ended up giving my girlfriend and I an extra discount too, I think it was $5 more off. But $5 is $5. My girlfriend and I each wanted a t-shirt and he was out of her size. For her willingness to take one size larger, he gave us $5 off the card. And he was polite too. He really is one of those guys that can be an absolute a**hole but if you treat him with respect he will reciprocate.
I really hope you come back to this thread after he visits your facility again. I'd love to hear how it goes, how he treats everyone, etc. Either way though, thank you for sharing your experiences! 🙂🙂🙂
As disruptive as she was, the bystandar's footage shows us how big the venue was. I've always wondered that. But yeah she should have been escorted out much faster. "Come on miss grab your jacket and let's go" while holding her by the arm.
People these days tend to immediately turn that into a discussion (usually at the top of their voices) of "you're not allowed to touch me" and "my basic rights are being impinged". They don't realize that this is a discussion you can have with a *judge* afterwards, but not with a bouncer / cop on the scene, who explicitly have the right to ban you from the premises, and don't even have to give you a reason for that.
@@DevSolar Especially since that kind of person usually doesn't give a single thought to how their actions affect other people's rights to, you know, hear the show they paid to attend. Or the right to not be annoyed by some bitch that thinks she's more important than an entire theater full of people who can control themselves for an hour.
@@DevSolar Screaming "Don't touch me" after you're being rightfully arrested is hypocrisy...
@@teddychu1177 Even if you are *unrightfully* arrested, trying to argue the case with the cop won't help, because the cop either doesn't know or doesn't care. The point of the arrest being lawful or not is for your lawyer and the judge to decide.
I went to a hardcore punk gig in Seattle and the crowd was more chill there than at your show. Seattle's a funny town.
Last show I saw at The Neptune, pre-pandemic, was Baby Metal and The Hu and there was a lot less punching.
Punk shows have always been non-violent, at least back in the 80s in Seattle. That was punk's whole ethos. The worst thing that ever happened to me was having a stage diver land on me when I wasn't paying attention. People caught him but one of his combat boots got me in the face. I even remember people stop dancing to look for someone's lost glasses or shoe.
@@jayfrank1913 It reminded me of the behavior in my local punk scene up in Canada.
@@rustyvonhammerdown9054 I'm glad to hear it's still that way. I went to shows in Chicago, D.C., New York and Ohio back in the day and it was the same. I never dressed as a punk (more like a hippie) and never felt unwelcome.
The only time it got out of hand is when some drunk asshole showed up who thought slam dancing was an excuse to injure people. They were usually "gently" escorted to the exit and "politely" tossed onto the sidewalk.
Favorite Shakespear's work? Dirty Mind (By Shakespeare's Sister).
I hope that I can catch a show sometime! 🇨🇦
When did this show happen? I been looking on your website for show dates in Seattle and I didn't see any coming up. Maybe I'm blind.
wish you came to northern CA
Great video. Can't wait for your 12/20 show in the 'Burgh!!
You guys are frigging hilarious.
This was epic... more of this! lol
To the guy asking for help. First thing, leave seattle for any town out of the pnw. You'll feel better right away
I hope the cry for help guy got help if he really needed it
Guy in the hat is on point.
I stopped smoking weed. I still do, but I used to, too.
At least tell the joke properly...
Hey i'm Chaz XD
I find it so disrespectful that even after all your posts about how heckling is not what you do at a show, people still do it. I go there to watch what is on the stage, not in the audience.
Do I laugh, yeah…at the appropriate time. I don’t make comments to the person on stage unless they address me first, which usually leads to me being part of a joke…but hey, that’s why I came.
I find it so ironic that people are offended by comedy. You’re there to laugh, not fight. If you do think you’ll start something, maybe this isn’t your type of show. 🤷🏻♂️
Steve makes me less embarrassed to live in Queens
Tbf..she pretty dang big
Damn, I know bouncers have patience but this... If another patron get assaulted while 3 bouncers and at least 1 cop are right next to the troublemaker... Somebody didn't quite understand their job description
Straight up
What cop? Just because they have a crest on their shirt doesn't make them a cop.
@@Lorrdd He was carrying a gun lmao. Was obviously a cop!
@@momchilandonovor maybe the fact I’m positive the badge said Seattle police on it but yk🤷🏽♂️
My thoughts exactly 👏👏✌️
I'm really glad you made special note of the cry for help guy. He may have been kidding, but it's very possible he was being genuine, and because of his inflection and the overall setting, most people would overlook him. You are loved. You are wanted. You are special. If you need help. Please ask someone for help.
He earned a like on this video for sure with that
I've tried asking for help, only for people to either ignore me or call me annoying.
@@garrickkthegreat5762 There are plenty of us out there that do care. The people that act callously and negatively about those are, usually, insecure and have their own issues. If someone treats you like that when genuinely speaking about your needs, just know that's their way of trying to deflect and not acknowledge their own needs. Keep your head up and know that there is positivity and support for you all around. Times get tough but time also fixes as long as you don't give up. From one human to another, I support you.
@@Breakbeat. 💚you are great. Both you and the person who left the first comment. Thank you.
"Just pretend she's a tent on the sidewalk and kick it off". That one killed me 😂
I guess Neptune Theater hired the Uvalde police to work security?
Damn😂😂
You should try this at an open mic.
They only hire the best part time school resource officers available.
Haha shout in a half🤣🤣
Your name is now Sid, because that was vicious
As someone who battles with anxiety and depression, I appreciate you guys for giving that man the time of day and not making him feel worse about what he's going through. It's really hard to ask for help these days. So many people are going through their own struggles and when you're trying to fight your own battles, I know sometimes it's hard to be there for other people, so seeing that means a lot to even me. That alone is worth a sub for sure! ✊
Agreed, sir.
The Jesus Computer doesn't come with Times New Roman.
Moses Computer is all emojis
Under rated joke.
"I don't know that book either." I laughed so hard I choked on my beer.🤣🤣🤣
I think he was going for Jesus walking on the water. Steve said Moses because he was found in a basket floating down the river . He also divided the sea instead of taking the chance on getting his shoes wet
@@CraigGrant-sh3in He divided the sea and so men shall always punch out chicks. thats old testiment shit.
@@CraigGrant-sh3in Yeah, I think you might have missed the joke part? Why are you explaining to me something I heard the first time?
@@CraigGrant-sh3in Yeah sweetie ... I understood that part! That's why it was so funny to me. So... captain obvious award for pointing out the punchline everyone was already laughing at for sure goes to you.
"Imagine getting kicked out at the Q&A."
She certainly got her money's worth.
I thought a Jesus Computer was just a box running Windows 11 - it's a miracle if it's working to begin with.
I figured it’s probably got a RAM issue, it tries to load but it keeps getting hung up 😏
Giving a shot out to the guy at the end was an awesome classy move. We all hope he is doing okay. ❤
Love the jokes. But you taking the time to narrow cast to that guy asking for help, that is the best. Humanity 100%
I was at this show and it was phenomenal. That all happened behind us so we couldn't see it until now.
Love seeing when a show goes off the rails, and how talented comics fight to get the train back on the rails
"Steady, steady...we gotta make it to Waffle House...!"
Im not the help guy but, Im constantly having a hard time, im sorry to find out you have the anxiety too. I hope your are cooping ok,
You make my day better and cant wait to see the days video from you. Usually i just give an obligatory comment ( 1 letter) but, today i thought id say hi.
Hang in there, you are worth it and loved by people you don't even know!
You got this Katie! I know that there's that old adage "One day at a time", well, sometimes even THAT is too much. I have done 5 minutes at a time.
"Okay... this 5 is down. Onto the next 5, and the next 5...and the next." Before I know it... the day is done.
It's okay to 5 minute it. Hell, even 60 second it.
If you need help or having a crisis, the Ntl S Hotline and Crisis line you can text are some resources, just for anyone who’s crying for help and not okay! I apparently can’t post the numbers but there is help out there!
Thank you for considering that Not Okay guy may not have been joking, that’s important
Your comment at the end man. Respect.
The Cry for Help Guy was trying so hard to be a heckler without actually being a full blown a-hole. You can tell he wanted to be on a RUclips video but I don't think he expected to be the hero instead of the heckler xD
10:27 "...things are going better for you." Thank you for that. Some of us struggle daily to keep it together emotionally, and you are helping anyone who hears you just by supporting him. Sometimes you lose sight of who you are and need to be reminded...let's stop there. Thank you.
Thats actually so sweet that you mentioned the cry-for-help guy. We all hope you got the help you needed man ❤
Steve you’re a one of a kind guy. Hang in there cry for help guy!!!
The energy at that show was amazing. PACKED house all laughing their asses off. Thanks Steve, hope the crazy lady in the back doesn't stop you from coming back, lol.
Yikes! Is the fan OK?!
Wow! The open violence nowadays is so pathetic in this country. It's the go to thing no matter what. I know it's not new but just seems to be more. Anyhoo, great jokes and comebacks! Loved it all (except the person getting punched; which I hope they convict the trash that did it).
I'm going to be at the Chicago show with my father next month. I hope we don't get anyone punched at our show.
I think I saw someone throw an air punch in that little side clip, somebody threw something before the actual punch that landed. What did the lady with the phone do anyway? She was just there!
Love that message at the end. I just started help (counseling) a couple months ago, it helps!
I didn't think I could love Steve any more, but then that shout out at the end for the person who said they needed help... *hugs*
Never play that venue again what absolutely weak security. Imagine if someone actually started something dangerous they would be totally ineffective
Steve is so caring throwing in that clip at the end for the “cry for help guy”
The cry for help guy sounded serious. Hope he's getting help.
Damn security sucks balls if they can’t get jabba the hut out within a minute or two.
You were in Seattle and I missed it?
Man that hurts, still always amazing to get to see you Hofstetter!
“Just pretend she’s a tent…”
GOLDEN!!
Camera lady got punched because the bouncers/security are bad at their job and didn't just physically remove the person immediately after she refused to go. Better yet, they should have asked her to leave while she was disrupting other patrons during the act(s), and if she refused then, just called the police and have them remove her and trespass her so that if she returned, she'd be arrested.
Wow...and then he follows up with the "Cry for Help guy"....Steve H., you are a great person....
Watched this whole thing just to see absolutely nobody get punched. Feelsbadman
Saw you at the Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver in 2022 summer Steve
Your show was amazing, andrew and Jarrett were fucking hilarious
such a different vibe seeing you in real life
I hope you sell out shows like Bert Kreischer or Gabriel Iglesias sooner than later
timeless comedian 12/10
Dude. Your comment at 10:17 to the 'cry for help guy' - You rock, Steve.
great clip, and bless the camerawoman for continuing to film as long as she could! also are avoiding touring in texas or am i just bad at checking the schedule regularly
Andrew Rivers, son of radio and twisted tunes legend Bob Rivers
Great choice in Shakespeare, Steve. I heard the question and thought, Othello, Bernstein Iago is a great villain.
Dude love your posts, and thanks for being supportive of the need help guy that’s awesome energy and why I like watching your content! Hope you in Atlanta sometime so I can check your show.
I know it's been said a bunch in the comments, and maybe I'm saying it for myself, but thank you Steve for taking the time to reach out at the end for the guy who said he needed help. If your the guy out there and reading this, please know that no matter what you are going through, however you are feeling, there is a giant community of people who will listen and assist in any way possible. Steve, thank you for what you do!
Steve, I regret not going and getting an usher or security when that drunk **** kept talking. It was literally right behind my head and I don’t think she even heard me tell her to shut up since I didn’t want to disrupt the show myself. Two wrongs don’t make a right, even if three lefts do.
I love all the great improv jokes you three got out of the woman getting kicked out "at the buzzer" so to speak.
It was a great show! The place was Packed and everyone, well almost everyone, had a spectacular time!
I bet the cry for help guy is crying with gratitude Steve.
He would have loved you mentioning him!
Maybe .. he could be a special guest at your next performance?
Time stamp where a lady gets punched doesn't exist because it didn't happen here.
Thanx
Did Andrew finally ditch the "pepsi" jacket? This black one is pretty nice. Now we just have to slip some books in front of Andrew...
He's now aspiring to represent Generalist Cola
That was such a nice statement at the end there
Your openers are always freakin' hilarious to the point of (almost) stealing the show! I love that.
I liked at the end how you reached out to the cry for help guy from a person that suffers from depression and anxiety a lot of the time and finds it hard to manage i found that part really touching a heart warming thank you, did he get back to you in the end by the way? x i will sign up to your Patreon in the new year when i have some money to spare.
Whilst I love the fact that Steve called out to the man who says he needed help, is a comedy show the place to do this? Is the situation for men in general this bad that their desperation to be heard is only available at shows such as this? Heaven help us.
Actually I think it might be. But as a female that has been quite down and out at times, I will clam up but if someone asks I will sometimes answer truly but then act if it's just a joke. So I love Steve's reaction there and the extra note at the end. For someone like me it made me feel very seen.
What the hell? Were the bouncers just DISCUSSING with the hecklers the POSSIBILITY of their leaving?
OK I'm now a fan. Subbed.
I hope the videographer pressed charges
Not to burden you, but... next time there's a "cry-for-help" guy, you might want to point them to some more appropriate resources? If not during the show itself, at least on the RUclips video where it gets mentioned.
bro, it looked like the security decided to have a full on conversation with her.... presumably at the expense of everyone in the back rows.
I just went to see a pretty large name comedian/ political commentator. Let’s just say his name rhymes with Cleven clowder. And I was actually a very big fan prior to the show. His co-host and himself were just not in my opinion as great as they give themselves credit for or what people build them up to be. I have been to less than 10 but more than 5 stand up shows and I actually appreciated more lesser known comics that can riff and handle even crappy hecklers. And this is definitely one of the more interesting and hysterical comedy pieces I’ve seen.
Love watching your videos and I can't wait for you to come back to Toronto - sorry I missed you here last time but your show was scheduled for the same day as FanExpo!
you really just made me laugh and smile nd cry just a bit . for the ending message of the cry for help guy. where ever that person is "its ok to be not ok" your not alone. I hope happiness finds you too
Security aren't' cops, they're to observe n report *Unless* the subject is combative. You don't kick out Simone for hurting your feelings guys
I was glad there was no heckling at the Portland show. It was awesome!
I’m glad the people in the video were wearing masks
Your tailor isn't great, Steve. That jacket doesn't fit. Too big. You look like you're wearing a cape at times.
Thank you for sharing your talent. Unable to see you live...thank you for sharing on the net. Medellin, Colombia watches.
Why is there always drama at your shows? Every video you post is some sort of disturbance or heckling. It's like that's all you have to promote yourself on.
Right before the computer joke, I was about to say, seattlw is such a pool of coders and that's about it. They are not real life experienced and sit in a room most days and just make up their reality according to what they are told to make. They make no decisions on their own and are rarely talking to actual humans. Sorry, not sorry. Very rare that you find an outgoing coder who is good at talking to people with respect and dignity.
WHAT A CROCK, didnt see any woman get punched! I hate click bait. unsubscribed
Only Mr. Hofstetter at 6'4" can wear a suit that color, make it absolutely stunning, and be the hottest guy in the room. #RedRocks
Their job is to de-escalate &get her to leave on her own if she gets violent they will forcefully put her out🤬😵💫
So the lady recording got punched by the blonde in the video or someone else? And did you ever find out why they were not just kicked out? Or why the lady was videoing what looked like a discussion with security? I am confused?
I thought the woman making a ruckus was the one who was going to get punched, but it was the one filming....? Right? I got a little confused 😕
I still want the full story of what the hell that stir up was about
Double edge sword, the only places that will listen to your jokes are full of drunks. And if you only played for sober people the laughs are gone. So this is what you get Hecklers or Hacklers as you like to call them.
I thought it was pronounced OTELLO 🤷🏻♂️
I've been a bouncer for around 30 years, and the length of time it took to remove her makes my brain hurt.
You need to cut your facial hair into a Horseshoe mustache it would make you look like a badass biker :)
When the person said "it's Seattle," I immediately understood lol.
DAMN, I'm sad I missed him coming to Portland 😭😭😭
I’m so curious of how this goes from Othello to a woman getting punched in the face 😂
