Not enough people talk about how utterly predatory the Sims has become in recent years, so thank you SO much for addressing that. People just seem to have accepted it, as if it's normal. And it's really not okay. When people pay money for bad business practices, they encourage them - which means more companies start doing it. We need to talk about how wrong this stuff is.
EA and Maxis (because for some reason, people think Maxis still is this pure and innocent company we used to know and love) love to play with players' fear of missing out. Why players keep buying the worse packs (like those fucking "kits") is beyond me.

Honestly The Sims 3 Adventures has SO much content. It's literally enough to fill a whole Let's Play with it.
Sims Tree
Yes I loved it so much once I played it
I've played Sims 3 for a long time but haven't really delved into WA much. This save I've been going to Egypt at least 4 times, and I've only done a couple of tombs. The Great Pyramid one is massive!
I much prefer the Sims wishes or desires or whatever they're called in Sims 3. I like that you can choose which ones to accept and which ones to deny. The Sims 4 tried to be all creative with the "emotions"... but the desires in Sims 3 were way better.
the emotions system is so flawed too, I can't stand it
In TS3, when another Sim died, my other Sims would randomly cry and mourn them for as long as the moodlet lasted. They'd be in a bad mood, do worse in school or at their job because of it etc.
When I had a Sim die in Sims 4, their family was like "oh that's sad... wow, nice decor and watching TV is fun. I feel great!"
@@claraf.6833 I’ve made this same complaint before and had hardcore Simmers defend it!! I was trying to play a legacy family in Sims 4, and when the daughter of a man who was now a grandfather died, she just had a whole bunch of happy moodlets, and the death moodlet was just kinda there hidden at the back of everything. It really takes away from the storytelling of a game.
I remember how slow and buggy Sims 3 was and how saving every 10 minutes became habitual because it would just CRASH for no reason. You'd know when it was about to crash. Everything would freeze. The music would stop. You'd only hear the outside ambiance and you would go nOnOonO please no please no. Every now and then of you were lucky it would pass and you could finally breathe
Real Sims 3 experience lol. I remember when my cousin had a household where one of the sims were in the middle of proposing to their girlfriend and it would ALWAYS crash. Literally every time it would happen and she couldn't play with that family anymore lmao
Glad that most computers can handle it now and that we've got stable mods that help fix the horrible optimisation
Sims 4 is the same.

Am I the only one who's laptop plays the sims 3 better than the sims 4???
I feel like the Katy Perry expansion needs its own two hour deep dive as well. Given how hard it was for you to find it in the first place. Unless that's just straight up going to drive you insane.
Or maybe: it will need a deep dive especially if it drives him crazy... :D

@@forthefrogs Apparently there's a mod that recreates it entirely in the Sims 4? it came out a while ago though so I don't know if it's updated to work with the latest updates and DLCS (as of late March 2023).

The people who default to "it's your PC that's the problem" usually know very little about PC gaming, and just assume that upgrading a GPU or adding another stick of RAM in are the only solutions to poor performance.
My older pc runs this game better than the rtx 3070 I have now
guys the problem is the game is not optmized for newer processors + microsoft changed their render dll's, also microsoft changed the direct3d since 2000's it may use deprecated routines, or its hooked from another renderer, using old WIN32API, kernel32.dll ol6d routines, user32 etc.. etc..

@@katlyndobransky2419 The computer equivalent of tightening a screw then noticing it suddenly got loose again lol
I'm glad your Sims 3 runs much better now! You should probably also get Smooth Patch (by LazyDuchess) - it's a lifesaver for a lot of people, and one additional thing about it that I like is it makes it the borderless-windowed mode look correctly, without those squished lines of text that you pointed out.
Also you can disable the Store features in the settings and I think there are also some optimization steps related to that that will help you out.
yess the smooth mod is a lifesaver!
Vampires in sims 3 came with late night, but supernatural updated them a bit and also added werewolves fairies and witches (I believe if you don't own late night but buy supernatural you'll still be able to get vampires)
From having supernatural back then, there were vamps i think.
I do remember ghosts, zombies, fairies, werewolves, unicorns, probs vamps.
Unicorns were from Pets :)
Supernatural was amazing.
Can confirm I pretty much just got late night, but I've had vampires from Supernatural
They came with Late Night, but you could only become a vampire by getting turned. With Supernatural, you could create them in CAS (they also added a few vampire features and rewards, I think). Supernatural also added CAS creation of werewolves, fairies, witches/wizards, genies (previously only playable by freeing a genie after befriending them) and ghosts. Zombies in TS3 are usually a temporary life state, the only way to get a permanent zombie is through a potion.
The coolest thing about these is that they brought back the Maxis name so they can wear it as a skinsuit while churning more of these out.
The Sims 4 I think initially didn't show Maxis on startup. Don't know what negotiations took place for it to get put in later.
Addendum: I misremembered, this was actually The Sims 3.

They deliberately made the base game extremely bare bones so people would buy them
@@MyratheDunmerThat was the exact reason. I remember buying the base game when it came out and it didn't have pools, or toddlers, and it was horribly limited. Someone might've already brought it up, but in the Sims 1 I think there was an editor that would let you make your own textures for your Sims. Gave you a flat picture you could edit for clothing, and it could "simify" pictures to turn into a sim's head.
There was something similar in TS2 too. It was great.
Sims 2 had the body shop where you could make textures in paint and then put it in the body shop lol
Back in the day when that came out, I made my whole family and put them in the game.
I told my sister about how her and her husband's sims had a baby, and she said "Ha! About that...". Seven-ish months later my niece was born 😂

Im so sorry but Todd's misfortune had me cracking up. Dude just wants to find love and so many women approach him but then he speaks and theyre like "Nevermind." Then the waitress immediately drops food on him and when it does successfully arrive, someone steals it. This is all comedy gold.
You Probably not enjoying the sims 4 as much because you don't really have plans of what you want to do in the game before starting a save game, and since you're pretty new to it you don't know what you can or can't do, or even how to do it so it feels like you can't do much, but the sims 4 has a ton of content and careers that are interactive and fun, heck you can even become a youtuber in this where you actually need to edit the videos and record them, I find that quite enjoyable, you can become an actor which is an interactive job too, heck you can own a farm with animals, it's basically a stardew valley pack. And I haven't even scratched the surface of the content that that game has with all the DLC installed.
However sadly I cannot recommend the base game alone to anyone, even if the game is getting updated with new stuff regularly, it's extremely boring.
One other thing I can criticize the 4 is the lack of the tiny details, Like how when two sims who are in love sleep together in bed they aren't cuddling like in the sims 2 and 3, little things like this made the previous sims games feel much more alive. But other then these it's a pretty great game that is much more stable with a charming art style.
As a base game only player since 2018 November, I agree with the people who claim this game is all frosting and no (or very little) cupcake. It's pretty, has a great variety of build options and an astounding CAS, but when it comes to buy mode and gameplay I can't play more than 20 minutes without wanting to play The Sims 2 again. The Sims are all just too lifeless, even when given 'unique' traits and aspirations.
Base games are supposed to offer a full experience, and DLC is meant to add a little extra spice. Sadly, everything about TS4 from the beginning revolves around capitalism. I would not recommend this game to anyone unless they have extra money they really don't know what to do with :/
I sure do love the Sims 4 Deluxe Edition that "doesn't" totally have a magnet link available.
Personally, RUclips version is more fun, and you don't even need to install it

"I'm terrible at controlling two sims at once"
And I'm over here downloading the full house mod to increase my household size XD
A documentary-size video, that's impressive. The questing on vacation trips was so fun in Sims3, they should've made more questing content in Sims 4. Instead, the game is a step backwards.
I really liked the questing, vacation but it was also what led to me not buying the Sims 3. I couldn't collect everything. I could have just not got Vacations, or not being items back, but I liked Vacations, questing, collecting.
I'd get too much stuff and then the save file ended up corrupted. Knowing I couldn't do everything in the Sims 3 and that saves could become completely useless, leaving you to start over, just killed my interest. I'd check in every so often, but neither EA nor the community ever fixed that bug.
No, it wasn't because of piracy, there's ways to play a game you don't own without a pirated copy. You know like on a friend's or family software and pc. It also was a documented issue you can see was affecting other players.
Commenting for the algorithm tbh, I have nothing insightful to say.

At one point years ago and I don't remember why, EA gave me Sims 2 and 3 plus all of their dlcs for free.
that’s the sims game equivalent of getting a car
it's almost scary how much happiness & entertainment this video is bringing to me.
Sims 3 is NOTORIOUSLY badly optimised, to the point where EA/Maxis gave officially advice to not run the game with all the packs at the same time (yeah lol you bought all the content but you can't actually use it all) and it played into some of the design decisions that they made for Sims 4. Like they specifically said they made smaller neighbourhoods and no open world because they didn't want to get into the same mess that Sims 3 did, etc etc. It's DEFINITELY not your pc if Sims 3 doesn't run well.
Wrong. The reason sims 4 isn’t open world is because it was originally meant to be a live service multiplayer only game until the SimCity reboot flopped hard. The Sims 3’s issues with lag doesn’t come from its open world, it comes from the fact that it’s a 32bit outdated unoptimized game with code that hasn’t been updated since 2009. Another showing as to why EA is a terrible company.
The Sims 4 is the type of game where you have to read the description and watch other sims RUclipsrs to actually know what’s going on. It doesn’t really throw it in your face like in previous Sims titles (excluding Batuu) and if you go into the expansion packs without knowing what’s in them you’re going to miss a lot (also the newer ones have a lot more content than the first expansion packs, so yes, the camping one is boring)
There's also the fact packs in The Sims 4 have half the content packs in previous games had. So it's harder to just find the content of those packs by chance.
Very true. I think a fair amount of players including him get more frustrated with TS4 than necessary because they're missing most of the content - they expect it to all be right there in your face like previous games. Like yeah TS4 has less depth and less content and I'm not okay with that, but they're making it way worse by not bothering to engage with the content that's actually there.
Now imagine if Morrowind had as many dlc as the Sims
Morrowind totally could if they did what EA currently does by splitting content into a bunch of a smaller packs
Remember they made official mods? Kinda like creation club but for morrowind.

Im amazed nobody has made a standalone game like that since. It was amazing.
Micky has completely lost it, the skooma has finally got to him.
jesus lol, imagine the amount money ea got from you. and imagine if all sims players would buy every dlc available.
EA wants to make The Sims life as expensive as real life
I want a Sims game with a STORY LINE again. The Sims 2, Sims Urbz, Sims Busting Out console editions had you play along with a story and then also had freeplay mode too. I really liked those games and the sims stories castaway stories style Sims game. I hope they do at least one more at some point. I love playing in the sim lore
I played the sims 3 as a kid back when the sims store wasn't shoved in your face as much. I got the pets expansion and it wouldn't run right on my computer, so all the pets were completely deformed. Sold the game online, and re-bought a couple of years later. But by then I didn't realise that if those physical copies were linked to an origin account that isn't yours, they are basically useless. So i got totally scammed 😅😅 I still have them and I wonder if it's possible to make them workable..? kind of doubt it with EA being EA
If you have the physical discs and the licenses, you should be able to use them if you uninstal Origin before installing the games!
I gave my codes to my bff for her to use on Origin (I don't use Origin meself it annoys me) so I know they'd be "taken". But my discs instal no problem on my computer - it's only Origin that checks for used licenses. Hope that helps ☺
@@EmilyE96 I don't have a disc reader on my current computer, but I'm pretty sure that still won't work. You don't use origin so you haven't registered the codes? I think in this case the codes were registered to an account so it just won't let me download the games to my computer at all. I also think the person who sold me the games knew this was the case and totally intended to scam me 😅 I googled around a bit and it doesn't seem like there's much i can do about it.
Seeing the graphics from the original Sims makes me want to see some SimPark, SimSafari, SimTown, SimCity, and...which ever other ones I had within a couple of years of The Sims. I think it was a pack of six from 1999.
Sims 1 is such a vibe though I had the “complete collection” as a kid and while definitely dated now it was such a groundbreaking game
I’m so excited for that Katy Perry video the pack is so insane and amazing
So one day I had too much time and remembered that The Sims Deluxe Edition existed.
So, besides main expansions (And that weird unofficial "That's Life!" item pack)Sims 1 actually had some smaller official packs that were either downloadable from official site or distributed through compilation packs.
Deluxe Edition besides base game and first expansion also had like 25+ exclusive items and 50+clothes.
Double Deluxe apparently didn't include items from Deluxe but included second expansion, 10 item packs that were available through official website and exclusive African and Asian-themed items and clothes.
There were also two other Deluxe Edition that added other expansions to the mix but apparently only one of them had bonus items from Double Deluxe.
And here's the kicker - The Sims: Complete Collection apparently is missing some skins and content that were available in other packs and official website stuff is missing certain parts, so unless someone won't be crazy enough to check all the different versions and explore official websitethrough wayback machine, we may never experience the FULL EXPERIENCE of the first sims.
The scary sound can be either a burglar or a racoon. (They both have bandit masks and are striped.)
You shall get my like. I don't want to think about the money you spend to create this monstrosity of a video, so I basically feel terribly obligated to help you get some money back.
love your stuff btw.
Serious question, if EA released a complete collection of all Sims games with all dlcs and it cost 1,000 dollars would it be cheaper than what you did?
much cheaper
1000$ could buy all the DLC for the Sims 4... and nothing else.
One of the absolute strangest things about the sims 3. Is that if I recall correctly, the bust slider was DLC.
I remember coming back to the game after finding a few of the expansions at my local wall-mart. And having an internal war about whether it was always there or not.
DLC in one of the packs or by itself? I had it when I had just base game and late night
it came with the update before ambitions! i remember it vividly bc my cousin made Dolly Parton first thing lol
This woke up so many memories since the sims 1 . I didn't even remebered i've played those omg. But when you opened that sims 1, it came back like a slap in ma face. thank you
Katy Perry Sweet Treats is a rare gem. For some reason I was able to register it. I lost the Code to my CD ages ago
You should do a play through of each uni on sims 2, 3 & 4. It takes a bit of time, but they’re all great, but imo, sims 2 uni is the best
2:05 its from 45 points to 14 points. Thats a banging deal. You got it wrong... missed out. Sucks to be your Sims.
Simtastic! I can’t stop buying them!
I remember playing the sims 1 ps2 version when I was a kid the music in the sims 1 is so nostalgic
The Sims Complete Collection actually comes with content that was exclusive to the Maxis website.
So you played it with content that wasn't in the base games and expansions.
So that means you now have to spend 72k euro on Sims 3 store stuff i don't make the rules
Meanwhile EA decides to add MORE DLCs for Sims 4, knowing there is such a generous buyer...
