    in case anyone wants to know, the reason why the game runs so badly is because it isn't optimized for newer graphics cards. someone made a mod that makes the game recognize newer graphics cards which cuts down the lag by A Lot. you can also cut down the loading times by turning off the interactive loading screens. with those enabled, the game is loading a lot of interactive images that cause the loading time to drastically increase AND make the game lag more. turning off memories and tips also improves frame rates!
    EDIT: worth mentioning the game also runs better with the island paradise and into the future expansions disabled/uninstalled. those games are buggy messes that never got fixed and are overall not worth playing or owning

    Just a heads up for anyone who wants to go back and play the Sims 3, you can actually play the game with all the expansions and stuff packs installed without too much fps drops and much quicker loading times, but there is a bit of work that has to be done. You need to get the NRaas mods(like Nraas Overwatch) as well as change a couple of settings like disabling story progression. All of the stuff you need to do to get Sims 3 running much better on modern machines can be found through a simple Google or RUclips search. You should also make sure that your base game as well as every single expansion is running on their own latest patch, because the launcher doesn't always update them for you automatically. I'm currently able to run a completely smooth game with all expansions and stuff packs installed as long as I live on a lot that's on the smaller side. Larger lots are still playable but do have a noticeable fps drop (still not as bad as in this video though).

    I loved playing The Sims 2 at a friend's house with him and we were so hyped for The Sims 3. We put in tons of hours when it came out since it just felt like a great foundation for a better game in most every way. We were also both pretty broke so also never bought any DLC. A couple years ago, I... ehem, "bought" the DLC on the seven seas, and man, even with a great PC it is quite a pain to run.

    • @SheepUndefined
      @SheepUndefined 2 года назад +6

      If you haven't figured this out yet, sims 3 can run fine on newer pcs, but you have to install a few mods. Primarily one that makes it so it can actually like....detect newer GPUs, which is a majority of the reason why it doesn't run well on newer computers.
      There's a good guide on the steam version's workshop that should get it running well on modern computers without as much issue!

    • @zaxentothegreedy7816
      @zaxentothegreedy7816 2 года назад +4

      The biggest obstacle for it's performance is it being trapped in 32 bit, essentially capping it's performance to an amount where it is impossible to have the game run perfectly with all the DLCs, even if you have the most godlike PC from like twenty decades in the future. Someone would have to either delve into the code and optimize it manually, or bring the game into 64-bit. That is, unless you have a mac for some odd reason, as the mac version is the only version of Sims 3 that runs on 64-bit, and that for whatever reason we never got a 64-bit windows version.

    Back in the day, there used to be an entire suite of fix mods for Sims 3. No idea if they're still around but the guy that made them was named NRaas. Most of the stuff he made were mods that helped with the optimization issues (to say nothing of the excess junk that the game left in memory during gameplay and never unloaded). I couldn't play the game without the NRaas mods and watching you try reminded me why.

    While out sailing the high seas, I came across a copy of the Sims 4 lazily floating above the water. The bloody thing must've fallen off the back of a pirate ship, earlier that day. Just out of curiosity, I brought the game on board. And to my surprise, these pesky pirates removed all the in-game advertisements, unlocked all the DLC, and it still works online. I was shocked. Who would ever do such a thing to such a kind, generous, and consumer friendly corporation such as EA. Absolutely disgusting.

    1:30 in answer to why the sims 3 runs so poorly: I'm not making this up, but it was all Spore's fault. If I remember correctly, the story is that The guy who did most of the coding for Sims 2 went off to make Spore. So a new guy came in. This new guy decided to have everyone code in C++. When the dude was done with Spore's development, he made everyone code in C#.....something else happened that I can't remember and they coded the rest of the game in PYTHON.
    TL;DR: Sims 3 is so poorly optimized because it's coded in THREE different coding languages. And I'm pretty sure that's the reason Sim-gri-la has that memory leak, as well.

    When you changed your sim back to human, you were then definitely a human not a genie, the game wasn’t glitching, you just kept the blue skin and the clothes. In the sims you can still wear genie clothes or have unnatural colored skin and be human. You have to click on the skin and select a skin palette that was natural and not blue, and change your clothes if you wanted to “look” more human. I agree sims 3 is so glitchy and slow, but that wasn’t a glitch, coming from someone who has been playing sims 3 for 12 years (2009).

Then SimCity happened, and Maxis was told to pivot the project into a mainline title, within a short timespan.

    When it comes to what *I've* spent SimPoints on, the list includes the Door of Life and Death (which, in addition to being usable as an ordinary door, lets you summon the Grim Reaper, or at least an NPC who looks like him since it doesn't count as him internally), a magic cauldron, a voodoo doll, a crystal ball, a deep fryer, an ice cream machine (both of which can be mixed for deep fried ice cream), a slot machine, the Plants Vs. Zombies Sunflower (which Sims can use to dance to a techno, metal, or acoustic instrumental remix of Zombies on Your Lawn or two clips of Grasswalk, the Day level theme), the Cowplant, an arcade machine themed after the Cowplant, and a playground spring ride also themed after the Cowplant.

While the Sims 4 is way more expensive and it gets boring so quickly. The Sims 4 could never.

    Modern Sims games really make me want to drop kick someone out a window, down to the beach where a lovely picnic is layed out before they get swallowed whole by a whale. If you're gonna make dlc for a game 1. don't make too many EA!... and 2. make sure your game can actually play it all simultaneously. and finally 3! Don't force people to sell an arm and a leg and their first born just to get all the content! That's good games development practice EA! Yes EA I am speaking to you!
    Anyway, on a more :D note, this was quite entertaining. Hats off to you Mickey, let's hope selling your kidney was worth it
