    Quanto era forte.. e l'Italia intera era tutta così forte che potevamo prenderci il lusso di tenercelo in panchina.. per movenze, postura, velocità e tecnica, Zola era l'incrocio italiano tra il Messi di oggi e il Maradona di ieri. Barone d'Inghilterra, ecco come termina la leggenda di un giocatore sublime che non ha vinto ciò che la sua classe sopraffina avrebbe meritato. Onore a Gianfranco, figlio di un calcio italiano che non c'è più.

    • @elnardowebster2842
      @elnardowebster2842 4 года назад +25

      No, non potevamo permetterci il lusso di tenerlo in panca.
      Non li abbiamo mica vinti quei mondiali e quegli europei.
      Avessimo vinto, Zola sarebbe stato un lusso
      Ma siccome non abbiamo vinto un cazzo, Zola non era un lusso, era necessario, come Mancini.
      La miglior generazione di piedi nella storia del calcio italiano e non abbiamo vinto un cazzo.
      Ma dove lo vedete il lusso.

    • @simonebattaglionsmm5401
      @simonebattaglionsmm5401 4 года назад +15

      Per la mentalità dell'epoca, ne poteva giocare solo uno di numero 10 (a fatica), e meglio del divin codino non ce n'era. Il lusso stava nel fatto che in qualsiasi altra squadra di quei tempi avrebbe giocato titolare, perché nessuno aveva la fortuna di avere due numeri 10 come Baggio e Zola in nazionale. Ma lui aveva appunto Baggio davanti a sé; se non abbiamo vinto niente con lui, non avremmo vinto neanche con il grande Gianfranco.

    • @elnardowebster2842
      @elnardowebster2842 4 года назад +27

      @@simonebattaglionsmm5401 Appunto, il problema non è Baggio, e neanche Zola.
      il problema è la mentalità dell'epoca. Che poi è la mentalità di sempre, in Italia.
      Il primo che vedo con un po' di coraggio è Mancini, che chiama i più forti.
      Evidentemente lui lo sa bene cosa vuol dire essere un fenomeno e venire lasciato a casa.
      Tra il 90 e il 98 avremmo dovuto fare filotto di mondiali, e invece grazie alla mentalità di far giocare solo un fantasista per volta, niente. NIENTE.
      I discorsi sull'equilibrio stanno a zero, visto che abbiamo PERSO.

      Wrong, Zola was understudy to maradona at napoli. Trained with him as a youth and eventually played in the same team with Diego. So many similarities beteeen the two, height being one of them. Robby Baggio was indeed great player, he can dribble past many opponents just like Maradona..
    But in terms of playing style & posture, zola was the closest things to maradona..
    Zola hustle just like Maradona, with body balance like Maradona, not easily down to a tackle similar to Maradona..
    In terms of personal skill, i would like take Robby Baggio all day..
    But in terms of playmaking, Zola was better playmaker than Baggio, Zola was similar to Maradona in that terms..
    Baggio develop his playmaking role at the end of his career, when his speed and acceleration rapidly down due to age & many injuries he had received before..
    Before that, he was something like Brazilian Ronaldo, bursting with deadly skill past 2-3 opponents to score goal..
    So it is true that Zola was the italian player closest to Maradona style of play..

    A very good player - legendary, i would say - at club level, however quite underappreciated at Azzuri level. Zola could have won 100++ caps for Italy and benched Del Piero or Baggio for good.
    The fact that in his prime he played in England instead of Italy didn't help matters either; for years Italian National Team always reluctant to pick eligible players outside Serie A therefore making Italian outside Serie A looks like rejects instead of star, no matter how good they are.

    Wow, I remember Italy having so many good players in 90s and 2000s besides the all time greats like Del Piero, Totti, Baggio etc. Zola was one of them and now Italy dont have anyone. Guys like Montella, Miccoli, Cassano, Di Natale, Chiesa and of course Zola would be the absolute super stars for Italy today, but back then they were all playing second fiddle, and rightfully so. The downfall has been insane. Never thought Id see Italy this low. The same goes for basically all the historical giants when you compare them to past national teams. Football has been going down hard since 2010s. 🤷‍♂️

    Giocava per la squadra. Fosse stato più egoista avrebbe segnato molti più gol. Eclettico, velocissimo, dribbling, destro, sinistro, tiro potente, ottimo colpitore di testa. Per le punizioni il migliore italiano di sempre ( circa 40 tra Inghilterra e l'Italia) Mai espulso (lasciamo perdere l'arbitro Moreno), pochissimi cartellini gialli. Un fuoriclasse, un gigante dei campi di calcio. Non era assolutamente inferiore a Baggio. Ho descritto sopra tutto il suo repertorio. Forse a Baggio mancava qualcosa che invece Zola aveva. Zola e Baggio i due migliori 10 di sempre.
