Pirlo pass for Baggio along with Baggio's finish is beyond epic. What most people cannot see from the video is Baggio takes a peak to the goalkeeper while the ball is in the air to check if he'll come out or not. Only a handful of players are able to take their eyes off the ball and still have the awareness / timing to continue the action. The skill to control and dribble a 50 meter pass is God-given.
Yes, that first touch was crucial, otherwise the pass would have been a waste. Top players linking up. Blessed to see them play.

@@Jamiegallagher03 What differentiate between a professional and amateur is IQ. All professionals have same level of skills but differs in IQ. What makes them world class? Consistency. You don't need to mention world class technical ability, he is a professional by all means but IQ differs between professionals. Consistency made them world class (Top 50 ranking in respective position at least.)
I rate him as the best midfielder of all time. Why? Because he was the main force behind the Italy team that won the world cup, the Italy team that got to the Euro finals, the Milan team that dominated the world and the Juve team that dominated Italy. He was the mastermind behind all these teams. He arguably had the best long balls, vision and free kicks out of any mid and could dribble insanely well. He could create a chance from absolutely nothing and is the absolute embodiment of the regista.

Had the absolute pleasure of meeting him in person while he was training at NYCFC, and I can attest that he is as classy on the pitch as he is off. Got a picture and he signed my shirt, I was in heaven, the man didn't leave the training ground until everyone got a signature or picture. Simply a LEGEND!

As a Brasilian, I will say he made watching FUN. What beauty. If you watched him play for five minutes and didn't smile, you haven't played the game.
In my modest opinion, the best midfielder in the history of this sport. In 35 years in San Siro I had the pleasure to admire some incredible players like Van Basten, Gullit, Weah, Baggio, Boban, Savicevic, Donadoni, Seedorf, Rivaldo, Rui Costa, Kaka, Sheva, Ronaldo, Ibra etc. but Pirlo is the one I will never forget. His mind was beautiful, bright, smart and cold... like he was living and playing on another planet. For me the perfect midfielder... a sort of fusion between Xavi (amazing short passes and vision), Zico (best long passes and free kicks ever) and Albertini (great playmaker...touching 150 balls every match... with 95% pass accuracy) in one player. Unforgettable

Got to see during Euros 2012, it was a bad tournament for Ireland (lost to Croatia, Italy and Spain), but we got to see Modric, Pirlo and take your pick for the greatest Spanish midfielder. Pirlo stood out from all those phenomenal playmakers for me, just made everything look so easy, and so much time on the ball, so controlling, effective, so intelligent and to cap it all off, so graceful! Made every other player look like a boy.

Best deep lying playmaker of all time. Extraordinary reaction time, he could see things from any angle of the pitch. A genius who defined flair and technical ability. He never had athleticism, but he never needed it as he played with his brain. Excellent first touch as well. One of the all time greats for sure and up there as one of the most elegant players to grace the game.

I remember all the times he lost the ball or messed up a long pass during his time at Milan...which is pretty easy to do because there's about 10 or 15 of those lol.

I thought he was over when Milan let him go for free back to 2011, but even with the rest of his peak he still provided a wonderful performance, consecutive scudetto, UCL final and Euro final were quite good for his standard
