I'm sincerely happy that Zola made such an impact in Chelsea 's legacy, cause here in Italy he didn't get what his tremendous talent should have given to him. One of the most underrated phenomenal player ever existed.

Idk about overshadowed, the aforementioned names all had their chances in one way or another. Signori was the preferred partner for Baggio in the run up to the world cup final, Delvecchio got the Italian goal in the euro 2000 final, Zola was the main guy at Euro 96 which sadly for Italian hearts was a disaster, played a bit in the qualifiers for the next world cup too. Chiesa was usually off the bench in Euro 96, Casiraghi started games in Euro 96 and Montella played alot too. An amazing generation of strikers really, Ravanelli deserves a shout goo. Not a fan of any football team anymore but that goal against Wimbledon has stayed with me more than any other. The audible gasp of the crowd, their instant reaction of getting up from their seats knowing that they were probably about to see something very special and then the wee man pulls it off with consummate flair. Gianfranco had the right recognition in england here in italy he was too reserved too introverted to become an idol. He was always a silent and hardworking athlete who thought only of his career and his family without ever an excess, a word out of place, or a first woman's compartment. In my opinion the best Italian player together with Roby Baggio. Thanks to Chelsea who recognized his greatness !!!
It's incredible how Italy had such amazing striker, and a few years later there's absoutely no one even remotely at that level.
