Whoever built it paid no attention to any kind of unique Architecture and design. It's just a cookie cutter home on steroids. I found it very blazay and ugly. It's definitely salvageable, but EVERY room in the home would need renovating and even after renovation, it's still a very simple boxy cookie cutter home. I can see why it didn't attract anyone who wanted it.

Tara Hamilton itd probably take about 100-grand or more to update, which in the grand scheme of things isnt nearly as much as what it will cost to rebuild...who knows, the rich live different lives. Also, another consideration, possibly could be full of mold...? Land value in that area [wherever it is] could be very high as well and at a minimum, so even with the house on it, they possibly purchased it from the bank for the same amount they could have purchased a parcel of land for in that area.

True enough but it will create jobs for the craftsmen who build the new house as well as the manufacturers who make the materials, systems and appliances as well as those who work in warehouses and truckers who deliver them. All of that provides tax revenue as well. There are good paying jobs deconstructing and hauling the old place away as well as architects and interior designers and the manufacturers of the furnishings. So, in the big picture, it isn't wasteful to take down something no one wants to build something someone does want and is willing to finance.

@S Solaris in regards to donating “your own shit,” the problem is their house isn’t the one being torn down, this is. Demolition usually involves a significant amount of waste that ends up filling landfills. Appliances, cabinetry, doors, plumbing, could easily be repurposed for projects like Homes For The Homeless. Only problem is that no one wants affordable housing in their town. But if the owner could find a way to sell off these items at cheap, or even free, builders could make newer homes cheaper. The land owner could save money by offering people to remove items for them. One can only hope appliances are donated for a tax write off, but that may not happen if time is an issue.
The rest of the house, drywall, framing... ...typically thrown in the landfill, which is very sad. But where I live, there are large farms and ranches being torn down to develop into mass housing communities... ...so to save money (and the environment), they will offer their barn wood up for free. Random strangers essentially take entire barns down piece by piece, reclaiming the wood for bizarre country art. Not my taste, but it apparently is very popular in some areas. I heard of even a Texas BBQ joint in Japan that imported the wood from here to cover their restaurant walls with to be “authentic.”

I'm with you I love the grand circular staircase and the gorgeous chandelier above it!
It is too bad that it's going to be torn down. One would think that renovations could be made to upgrade it unless whatever it's being torn down be replaced by couldn't just remodel.
However, if one were into this sort of thing one might contact the owners or their representatives and see if you could take the good stuff out of it before they bulldoze it. Just a thought. The thing I'd want most would be that great chandelier above the staircase.
