One of the funkiest, boldest, and visionary songs from the 80's; synth-pop, DOPE VOCALS...and funky ass grooves. The System changed the game with their sound 💯
Agreed. Time has shown that they were head of their time. My favorite being the "Coming to America" theme!... I kid.😂😂😂 They were mindblowing. They actually interviewed for my local TV station in VA when this was popping. Very cutting edge stuff musically. Always loved them.
There's nothing original about this. The guy I was ripping off Michael Jackson but it couldn't dance. It was all synthesized pop. There wasn't no type of funk like James Brown
This is still one of my favorite songs. Man, the 80’s was banging! An era unlike any other. I had the privilege to live through it! A time worth studying up on.😊
Loved The System. Don't Disturb This Groove, Coming to America, etc. and, of course, this one. His voice is amazing and the music was arrangement and beats were so catchy.
Phil Collins once said that the synthesizer, rhythm and programming on “Sussudio” was done by David Frank. He also contributed to Chaka Khan's "I Feel For You", Scritti Politti's album Cupid & Psyche 85 and on Steve Winwood's album Back in the High Life arranging the live horns on the album as well as the synth horns on the #1 hit "Higher Love".
I would not have made it through the 80s without Mic and Dave. When I started being a DJ in 1984, a lot of my friends clowned me because I loved synth-pop...nu wave...British, Euro ands slick 80s music and cuts from groups Kraftwerk, Scritti Politti, The System. Although I loved playing R&B, dance, house my forte was synth-pop from groups like Human League, Information Society, Robert Palmer, Scritti Politti, Sting, The System, OMD, Talk Talk and so many more. This cut by The System is still a cut that I play during my sets for Old School nights. Man ❤️I love this joint and I love The System 🔥
I feel for these youngsters today who wasn't even born during this time in the 80s, you had Michael, Prince, Madonna, The Police, Sade and a lot more including The System, that's all great talent right there. It's kind of sad that mainstream music today will never probably have this same feel-good feeling like it did in that era.
tbf I'll give a lot of Gen Z kids credit these days in having an open mind, they're fully digital natives and have grown up with open access to music from all the previous four decades. From experience they hear something good and they'll vibe to it, a lot of them specifically "get" the 80s.
@anashe15256 sure maybe better than this. But rap and trap is not better than Micheal Jackson, Prince, Etc. They are legends with talent, most mainstream rappers can’t do anything without auto tune
my dad is the reason i even like electrofunk and stuff like this and he doesnt like the system he says they're a one hit wonder. i think theyre unique and love jamming to them💗
Their sound is on a few big hits by other artists. These musicians had their hands in more than just their collaborative band The System. Tell pops to dig a bit deeper
What a song! When I first heard it in 1981, I was in scotland and could not find a vinyl. I ended up getting a vinyl in Toronto at the Virgin megastore. Amazing album.
This band was extremely influential in the development of MIDI. They have lent their talents to other hits as well, like Phil Collins’ “Sussudio” and Mtume “Juicy Fruit”. The keyboardist is extremely slept on, even Yamaha credits him for essentially creating the electronic “R&B” genre.
God how I miss the 20th Century! Keyboardist extraordinaire David Frank , He sort of invented the idea 30 second note synthesizer w/ bass parts & drum parts, He's really the 1st Guy to use the sequencer & drum machine & took it to the nxt level, that we all would Marvel 40 yrs ago!
He sure did Roscoe!!! He is the dude. The number one originator/inventor of the synth R&B groove. Killer Funky music that all us white boys love!!!!!!!!!

This one was a club monster hit. Good memories, I wish this had better bass.
These dudes helped sell a lot of synthesizers. They made that shizz look easier than it really was.
