    Quirrell is burned by Potter's hands because he drank unicorn blood earlier in the film, and was cursed because of it, and because Harry had that whole "love" protection from his mother that Dumbledore mentions at the end of the film, it interacted with Quirrell's curse and destroyed him. At least, that's all I can say without getting into spoiler territory.

    • @TheGroucho66
      @TheGroucho66 4 года назад +3

      The only thing that annoys me about the film is the plot hole that if he is unable to touch Harry, then why doesn't he burn when strangling Harry's neck? lol. I'll have to reread that section in the book to make sure but I think this plothole is just in the film whilst the book adheres to that rule more rigidly.

    • @RebootedGaming

      It's also mainly because his mother sacrificed herself for the sake of love and as Dumbledore said, love is the most powerful magic, which is also the oppositional force of killing.
      The effect of the curse is unknown, but the reason for drinking the blood was to keep Quirrel and Voldemorts form alive, it is the elixir of life, but you live a cursed life.

    So one of my movie pet peeves is Ron doesn't freak out during devil snare scene It's actually Hermione who gets flustered and Ron who snaps her out of it. Unfortunately this happen more and more as the films go on where by the end of it people question the point of Ron's character. The screen writer of the Harry Potter movies favored Hermione so Harry's and Ron's smart/Brave moments all get given to her. Also this gets glossed over in this movie but the Mirror or Erised; the significance of what Ron sees is that he is constantly being overlooked because he is the youngest son and all of his brothers have impressive achievements and Ron just wants to be special.

    20:45 it's the most powerful magic that exist in Rowling's world, the power of love. Harry is protected against Voldemort because his mum protect him before being murdered. It is better explained in books. Sorry for my bad english man. Give me like for Gandalf for president.

It's because Lily's sacrifice of dying for her son left love in Harry's skin. Voldemort can't bare to even share this frame of mind because he's a psychopath who is incapable of love. The same reason why Voldemort's killing curse backfired is also the reason Quirrel crumbled at Harry's touch. There's more I can say but no spoilers!!!! Lol

    Love is treated as something magical, literally, in the harry potter series. So harry's mama loved him from her heart and she came in between voldemort and Harry to protect him and died for him. So the love for her son, castes a protection charm over harry. Anybody who wanted to harm harry wouldn't be able to harm him. Hence, when Voldemort attacks Harry , he got burnt.

    From some tiny research, appearantly why Voldemort and Quirrel turned into ash by being touched by Harry is because when Harry's mother sacrificed herself for the sake of love, she casted a powerful ancient protection spell that has been warding Harry's skin, as long as he is a child/teen, but seemingly love is the opposition of killing in the universe.
    Including that Quirrel had to drink Unicorn blood to keep himself and Voldemort alive until they got the stone to restore his soul to a body,
    but killing a unicorn is a big taboo and will ultimately cast a curse on you, the effects are unknown.

  • @wolfgirl4486
    @wolfgirl4486 4 года назад +6

    The reason Harry doesn't get the snitch straight away is because like you know catching the snitch ends the game so he has to let gryffindor get some points first to make sure that Slytherin can't get more points then them even with the snitch's points so he has nothing to do until they have got around 20 points then he can start looking for the snitch - yes I am a quid ditch nerd
    Hermione is actually the brains
    Ron is the loyal fighter and GREAT at chess
    Harry is the more headstrong type then even the rest of the gryffindors and he is the leader

    It's hard not to tell too much this early on. But Harry has a protective spell in his very skin, the one Dumbledore told him about, that was given to Harry by his mother, Lily, just moments before she died. Perhaps the very moment she died even. This was what protected Harry against Quirrell & turned him to ash. The films unfortunately never explain this part but this is actually why Harry must live with his awful relatives, his aunt's family. Because the proximity of his aunt, his mother's sister who has the same blood, will keep the spell going until Harry reaches the age of 17. This is one very vital detail the films are foolish to never even tell or explain at all. Hence why I am telling you now.

    This isnt really explained in the movies, so I'll explain the whole "love protecting harry" thing.
    Basically, Harry's mother CHOSE to sacrifice herself in order to protect Harry, which cast an ancient spell known as "sacrificial protection". Harry is not invincible, but Voldemort cannot touch him directly because of it. The spell also protects Harry when he is with the Dursleys, because his Aunt Petunia is his mother's sister, so her home is a safe place for him to be despite how awful they treat him.

  • @melannyratliff9429

    20:02 In the books it's explained that when Harry's mother dies to sacrifice herself for Harry, this act is like a protection spell. So no matter where Voldemort is, he cannot touch or harm Harry thanks to that protective magic. That is why when Voldemort retrieve his body, he used Harry's blood, so the protection spell had no effect anymore.

    About the whole thing where love gave Harry the power to turn Professor Quirrell into ash, it's an old type of magic where if you love someone deeply enough and sacrifice your life for them, a protection spell is cast onto the surviving person. I don't think it's a well-known spell because Voldemort didn't realize that by killing Harry's mother as she sacrificed her life for her son, she enacted the spell that 1) protected Harry from Voldemort's killing curse and 2) allowed him to have continued protection against Voldemort as we saw. The spell was so powerful that he couldn't touch Harry without being destroyed because of that protection spell. Voldemort would need to find some way to break that spell before he could ever touch Harry again safely otherwise Harry will be safe for a long time if not forever.

    Harry/Leader, Hermione/Weapons, Ron/Tactician . At least that's the way it is in the books. A lot of Ron's lines in the books were given to Hermione in the movies.

    To say that "love' saved Harry is a simplification of how Harry's mother protected him. There was ancient magic involved, as well as sacrifice. Otherwise, Voldemort would kill few people because almost any mother would sacrifice herself for her child.

    • @RideoutReviews
      @RideoutReviews  4 года назад +1

      They didn't explain it too well in the books. It was just the sacrifice which caused the spell, I think. I would like to know more about it though.

      @@RideoutReviews I think I actually read it in Pottermore or it may have been a JK Rowling interview. It's been quite a while. But just as a simple murder cannot produce a Horcrux, just jumping in front of a bullet for someone you love will not protect them from evil. A spell must be used to bind the magic. When Voldemort
      came to the house, James and Lily knew they were dead people walking. Lily had time to initiate the spell as James fought off Voldemort.

    So in the books it was 10 points for every goal you scored in quidditch. Catching the snitch ended the game and gave you 150 point. So if your team was down by 140 or less (or winning) the snitch was a guaranteed win. A little overpowered tbh. Made the rest of the game a little pointless
