Scotty, I Just ran across your youtube channel about a week ago trying to find solutions to my car problems. Kept watching video after video. Have been a subscriber ever since. Love your energy and love your channel!
I have a 2018 CRV Touring and we love it.. its got everything on it.. only thing that sucks is if you do short journeys a lot then your battery wont last, approx you'll get 2.5years... another way to prolong the battery, when turning off you car, turn off non essential stuff, like AC, fan, lights, Radio.. as with it on, when you start your car the battery has a hard time cranking the engine. After our last battery change instead of the rated 500amp battery it has, we got a 550 cranking amp battery.. and try not to do short journeys, take it on longer journeys instead.. otherwise the CRV is great, only thing we've done is oil changes and needed 4 new tires which original tires lasted 5 years... Great mid size SUV, loads of space in trunk and passenger seats, with plenty of cup holders etc...
I saw the thumbnail and was like “that’s my car!” 😁 I love my 2020 CRV EX, I haven’t had any issues with it, the only issues I had were self inflicted when I hit a curb during the icy and snowy season. We're on our 2nd CR-V - a 2012. Great 2.4L "normal" motor. I hated to hear about the oil dilution problems of later models and was planning to push my spouse towards a RAV4. Your video gives me hope that Honda has fixed that issue. We love our CR-V's.
I bought a new 2022 CR-V Hybrid Touring and was lucky enough to get it close to MSRP. I usually buy used, but ironically, the new ones were cheaper than used! Hybrid definitely underwhelming on the highway, but makes up for it with city driving. Usually average around 36-38mpg overall. Very comfy as well!

Used to have a bigger SUV and thought we would at times miss having the bigger vehicle, but never once did we miss the extra space. And being a little more narrow than a full size, a dream to park.
Even without eco mode you have to credit them for pretty decent MPG in these. Tiny turbo and the CVT are a good pair, just hope that engine isn't too overworked to last.
@@CameronDC-Grimes not true, my parents crv that has the smaller engine is already super sluggish 6 years into owning it at around 150k kms while my old 2.4 L element easily went to 350 kms
We've been leasing this model for maybe two years, it's really an amazing family car. It has everything you could need and handeled like a dream in about two feet of snow this season.
Three close friends of mine all have a Honda CR-V and even though they're all different models and trim levels, they all love it and haven't had any major issues. My mom has a white 2022 Honda CR-V ordered right now and it's great seeing how much you like it (but that was pretty obvious since it's a Honda). My parents were going to get a hybrid since she does a good amount of city driving, however when they ordered the vehicle back in May, the dealership said a Hybrid wouldn't be coming in until 2023! Her CR-V is currently being built and should be in sometime in August so I'll be seeing this exact model year in person very soon!
My sister just leased one. She loves it. Only thing thing I would caution on is ...she had an air freshener looped around her gear shifter and the oils from the air freshener started to eat away the grey laminate around it. Very small spot. But it's there. Now she hangs it around the mirror like most people lol. Also there's a glitch with the apple car play, with a couple year older iPhone.
My girlfriend has the same car with all wheel drive fully loaded with leather interior etc. We are getting 32.3 mpg on average!! Now the bad News...... just a review guys so bare with me. In owning this car for almost 2 years. It's a 2021 BTW I have noticed that I have a lot of hip pain on both sides of my body. Siotic nerve pain. I hope that I spelled that right. And not enough leg room in the front while driving. I'm 5"11 and I noticed that there is not enough support in the arm rest my left elbow and arm hurts after a good road trip. Other than that it's a nice car! Also turn off the start and stop button located above the econ button on the right side of the shifter that will save you a lot of money for engine repairs down the road. Also I have to do it every time I drive the car when I start it. It's a little annoying but you will get use to it. I hope that this helps you all who has this vehicle.
Got 2017 crv with the 1.5L. No oil dilution and proved by an oil analysis I had done. Great SUV, plenty of room, great mpgs, and a super comfy ride. My only complaint is having an electric parking brake instead of a foot-petal one.
@@sk-un5jq it was hyped enough that Honda extended my powertrain warranty for certain check engine codes that may be caused by that problem. Of course im way past that warranty period now
Have the same vehicle bought new AWD Touring now has 94K miles, no issues what so ever getting 34.1 MPG and don't see any difference with the 2022. Winter the MPG drops to 30MPG.
Also have a 2017 with no oil dilution problem...75,000miles is perfect but I am a fanatic about maintenance... have done the CVT oil 3 times already, it`s so easy and rear end oil also.
I have been in the auto business for many years and can say you are on point with the CR V positive review. They are amazing machines.I very much enjoyed your review of the CR V Honda. Rocco from Rocco's Auto Repair Brooklyn, NY.
I built these in the Indiana Honda plant for several years. It's true, MOST of what goes into their vehicles that they sell in the USA is made in the USA. They take their quality very seriously and have many quality checkpoints down the production line. High quality, durability, low defects, and competitive pricing were always the main focus (or at least that's what they'd say in meetings). I've always thought their products were good, and they're more "made in America" than most people think.
My mom has a 07 Acura tl that she bought off the show room floor brand new and she still has it. 240,000 miles. Original engine and tranny. Still drives and looks like it’s brand new. The only wear is on the drivers side of the seat. Would absolutely buy a Honda or an Acura any day.
I don’t like the cv transmission so I bought a 21 Pilot with the v6 and nine speed transmission. Just turned 19,000 miles. Great vehicle! I can get 30 mpg hwy easily.
My 2010 the same, oil and tires, I’ve had it 10 years and I think I’ve changed the tranny fluid once. I wanted a Sienna hybrid but you can’t remove the seats so I might just go with the Honda van, IDK .
My girlfriend has a 2004 Honda CRV and never had a problem with it, still runs like a champ. No problems at all and we just change the oil fluid every 3-4 months. Only changed the transmission fluid once and it’s only at 90k miles
I have 2020 CRV hybrid and drives like a luxury car. The hybrid power makes it so quiet and easy to move around from a stop. I get 39 to 40 mpg in the summer or hot weather mix driving and around 36 mpg in the winter or cold. Very spacious and comfortable seats, drove over 800 miles in a day without breaking sweat
I've driven a Honda coupe for year s in Wisconsin without awd. It's not a must . Snow tires work just fine. However if I had more money awd is the way to go
I have the 2021 Honda CRV EXL. I really like it. The turn radius is incredible, i can parallel park it almost anywhere in the deep city, and it's agile & maneuverable in heavy traffic and the highways. One thing I do wish is that Honda CRVs still kept the back windshield accessible entry. I drove the 2001 model the back windshield opened and closed
Purchased a 2020 CRV hybrid, love it!! And it’s awesome in the snow, goes up and down the mountains in great control especially using the paddle downshift on the steering column.
The CVT can be sluggish at times but gives excellent highway mileage. I have a 2015 Accord, and once I got 45 mpg cruising at 55 mph in California. Overall on the highways, it always beats the EPA-rated mileage. Note that it was on ECO mode for the 45 mpg run with AC on and set to 70F. Surprisingly I always end up getting better mileage with the AC on compared to AC off despite my windows being rolled up always.
I own a 2017 crv I just put 200.00 Miles on it after all the engine replacement but the transmission is holding great also I changed the transmission and differential oil every 20 thousand miles Still it runs like new.
I would get the RAV4 just because I'm just not a fan of turbos on gas engines or CVTs. If it was a diesel a turbo wouldn't concern me because a diesel is a different animal. Someone will say "thErE's NoTHing WroNG wItH tURboS mAn! QuIT beINg a dInOSaUr!" because there's always that one in every crowd but I just don't like the characteristics of turbo gas engines. I'll take more cubic inches to get more power.
My precious 2002 CRV EX was hit recently and totaled at 143k miles. I am devastated! She had at least another 200k left in her. This review was timely. I will likely get another one and drive it for 20 years!
I've had my 2018 CRV with the 1.5L since new and I can tell ya it gets great gas mileage 35-40mpg! I will say the heater or the AC decreases the MPG 2-4 mpg. No issues no problems. (knock on wood) lol
Just got back from a vacation in the Cumberland for a few days. Not really big hills...but more than where I'm from (Northern Ms). My 2012 crv with 114,000 miles handled flawlessly and was a real pleasure to drive. Love driving there!
The 2.4 is a proven engine in durability and reliability, my sister in law.has a 2009 with 180,000 miles and runs perfectly. Haven't seen a 1.5 running fine with that many miles
There’s a guy over on CRV forum who has a 2018 CRV with the 1.5 turbo engine. I think he’s done something like 300k miles already and no issues. He’s an Uber driver.
got rid of my 2018 crv 1.5T cvt. i keep having heat issues in the winter and oil dilution problems. cvt felt weak when merging to freeway. i got a 2021 rav4 couldn’t be happier!
I loved my 2009 CRV passed on to my son with 220.000 miles (told him take care of it like l did) even though it burns some oil - so l bought a 2023 CRV and l now have 25k miles and love it - Go Honda CR-V!!!! God bless 🚗😎🚗😇
Scotty, We just ended our Silverado lease and wanted to downzsize. Wanted a Rav 4 but Toyota dealers were over sticker! Got the exact CRV with AWD here in northern Michigan. I can't be more pleased with any vehicle we've ever had!!! Now our '05 Accord has a new friend!! This thing is perfect!!!!
Great SUV! I have a 2022 CRV EX an it gets the same Average MPG as my 2013 Honda that has a K24a2 bottom end and a K20A head. 28.6 miles. An the SUV is much much larger.
I've got a 2018 CRV and unfortunately it's got serious oil dilution. I recently did an oil analysis and it had over 9% petrol by volume in the oil. Honda giving me the run around. Looks like they have now fixed the problem however they don't want to know about the earlier ones.
Currently own a 11 CR-V and I love it. I bought it for the AWD in the brutal Wisconsin winter. I am considering about replacing it with a newer CR-V as it’s getting older.
if you buy a new honda cr-v hybrid you gonna need to pay extra for repair cost earlier. I would go for the cr-v without the hybrid technology. Only thing is that i wish it was a turbo free 2 liter engine
I have a 2017 CRV. Well, I hold my breath on its longevity. In the beginning I had battery problems. Every 18 months a new battery. After my own research, It was a software patch. I had to demand the dealership under warranty to locate and apply a service bulletin patch. The push back from them, it was not in the serial number range. I do notice a strong gas odor when checking the oil level at the dipstick. I'm amazed that software patches have such impact on vehicle performance...sigh. Great driver around town and on the road. Will see how the engine holds up.
The 2023 CRV is really nice. I'm still not 100% sold on CVT transmissions and tiny engines but I like my Honda dealer. How you're treated at the dealership during the shopping phase is definitely a consideration for me as is home to dealer distance. I also like the RAV4 but would rent one for 3 days to make sure I preferred it over the CRV.
I think it's our future with CVTS got used to them now driving a 2015 Rogue with one no issues have problems no worries got extended warranty get ready get oil change tomorrow at dealer pray they don't find any problems.
@@ramoncarter6585 Nissans have a terrible reputation due to ongoing CVT problems. Hopefully they've addressed the problem. Best of luck with your 2015 model....hoping it gives you many years of trouble free service.
Honda is the reliability king. Toyota now ending its reliability reputation over recent new cars like rav4 with so many issues which not included in their warranty 😂😂
I love your video's, all of them. But i must say that my ex wife's 2013 Nissan Pathfinder has the CVT transmission in it and at 110k on the clock she has not had any problems. Having said that, it also has the 3.5 litre V-6 and will spin tires at will. I'm hoping she got one that was built correctly and will last 200k. We got this Pathfinder after hurricane Harvey, we live in Dickinson, Texas, or she does. And it replaced her Toyota Avalon that was under 3 feet of water in our driveway.
My wife and I both have driven FWD vehicles (Nissan Versa, Honda Accord, Dodge Neon, Nissan Rogue, Chevy Malibu) with snow tires in WI for 11 years with no problems.
I wish I had bought the last model that had the 2.4L natural. I’m not afraid of turbocharged engines. I currently own a Kia Optima with a 1.6L turbo with over 103,000 troublefree miles. But I KNOW the natural engine will last longer without as much maintenance.
Grandma bought a 2001 Honda CR-V GT, new and maintains it. She has done oil changes, timing, alternator, ignition parts... That's it. Still runs solid, it's such a reliable well Made car she can't justify getting rid of it. I still use it to drive up the mountain to go snowboarding, the awd system has never let me down in a pow day. Still tons of power, which is strange, because buddies feels like a rubber band.
Fun fact: the CRV is a FWD biased vehicle. When the front wheels slip the rear wheels will activate to help push. When the front wheels gain traction and stop slipping, the rear wheels deactivate so it goes back to just in FWD again. This isn't a real AWD system it's more of a slip detection system. And the reason you don't see city SUV's with AWD badges going offroad. Or out hooning in snow storms. I've seen these things stuck in snow up in Canada. Only way to move is to have the pedal down and have the front wheels slip to activate the rear wheels which overheats the clutch pack and wastes gas. In a true AWD like a subaru all the wheels are propelling the car all the time. And I wish Honda would make a true 4x4 competitor to the Jeep Cherokee at least.
These newer CRV’s are great cars. You can get a lot of luxury features like leather, Nav, collision mitigation etc for about $35k. Ours has been great after 6 years.
I live and grew up in Maine. Don't need AWD. Front or rear drive doesn't matter if you know how to drive them. You just have to have good tires for Winter.
I love the newer Honda CRV so much that I purchased the Acura RDX A-SPEC which is orders of magnitude "raised the bar" better than the CRV! Yes $10K's more than CRV price but worth every $ in every category and then some! RDX by far the best in class in the compact SUV market.
Im 6'4" its far from perfect. I am a Honda guy though. The shifter is in the wrong place for tall people. Its right in your knee. My next vehicle will be a pilot. As soon as getting out of my crosstour is too hard im looking for a pilot.
Dude, I literally lucked out and managed to score a 2010 F-150 V8 SuperCrew for a decent deal. Oceans of space, I don't think I can go back to smaller vehicles anymore 😅. 6'3'' here
@Romaine They're insanely spacious lol, but you have to get the SuperCrew, the other versions dont have great legroom at the back. I got a 6.5' bed too, so good carrying capacity
@@PalkiaDialgaGiratina yeah but I would just go for a Toyota Sienna to move people and get 36mpgs at that point. If anyone is avoiding the minivan because of the looks I don't think pilots look that much better lmao
I’ve owned every generation CRV and have a 2012 and 2011, still flawless with regular maintenance. My next car will be the Rav4 as I’m not a fan of turbos or CVT’s.
I love these smaller SUV's I don't need a 3rd row SUV but I do want somethin more practical for hauling stuff around and the ability to have a hitch for accessories and light trailers which a car like this CR-V would be perfect for, besides if I really needed a 3rd row I'd get a minivan instead of an SUV.
As the owner of 2019 RAV4 and 2020 CRV, I can tell you that the seats on CRV are much more comfortable for long drive. I have had 7 Toyotas in my life time (XLE's and Limited) Toyota makes some of the worst seats. They should hire few Volvo engineers.

We're on our 3rd CRV lease and we've loved all of them. Nice ride and great gas mileage
And roomier and smoother than the RAV4!
We've been leasing this model for maybe two years, it's really an amazing family car. It has everything you could need and handeled like a dream in about two feet of snow this season.
Just bought a 2022 CRV touring on the 4th of July I love it !
We have a 2009 with the 2.4 ltr engine, It has 170,000 miles on it. We will keep it until the wheels fall off!
My 2010 has 134,000 , I just want more room to camp in but this car owes me nothing, I’ll only own Honda or Toyota, no other company does it better.
Got one! First new car since 2005. It's very nice.

Got a coworker who bought a kia but months later, traded it for the cr-v
@@castlevina8425 you read me wrong?
My sister just leased one. She loves it. Only thing thing I would caution on is ...she had an air freshener looped around her gear shifter and the oils from the air freshener started to eat away the grey laminate around it. Very small spot. But it's there. Now she hangs it around the mirror like most people lol. Also there's a glitch with the apple car play, with a couple year older iPhone.
I had a 2017 CRV AWD. Good set of snow tires, the absolute best vehicle in snow I've ever owned!
how about in the sand ?
I've got a 2021 CRV and it's pretty awesome. The leg room in the backseat is what sold me on it.
Yeah, I don't know why anyone would get the RAV4 over the CRV.
Just purchased the 2022 HONDA CRV CXL. Love it, runs great and the gas milage is excellent. Got the Raident Red !
Just got my wife a brand new 2022 crv a month ago 🙏 we love it
Got 2017 crv with the 1.5L. No oil dilution and proved by an oil analysis I had done. Great SUV, plenty of room, great mpgs, and a super comfy ride. My only complaint is having an electric parking brake instead of a foot-petal one.
Oil dilution issue was overhyped. I have the 2016 Civic 1.5T and haven't had any problems with the engine or CVT.
@@sk-un5jq it was hyped enough that Honda extended my powertrain warranty
for certain check engine codes that may be caused by that problem. Of course im way past that warranty period now
Have the same vehicle bought new AWD Touring now has 94K miles, no issues what so ever getting 34.1 MPG and don't see any difference with the 2022. Winter the MPG drops to 30MPG.
i wish they put a reg parking brake.... electric can fail
Great share appreciate you taking the time Scotty 👍👍
Fun fact: The New CRV 1.5T is the same engine from the Si especially the turbo. Just de-tuned.
I have a 2020 exl and all I can tell you this is the type of car you will fall in love over time ..there nice
Scotty always says to avoid cars that are built here. Always says to go for Japan if possible.
I got the 17 LX with the 2.4 and I’m quite happy with it.
I have plowed way too much snow with my Civic. It’s a beast though!
My 2011 CRV is still perfect. All I’ve done is change the oil, tranny fluid, and tires
Hi Rob2D2,. I couldn't agree with you! I also have a 2011 Honda CRV EX (last of the third generation) and love it! No oil dilution issues. 😆🥰
I live in Wisconsin AWD is mandatory! I have it in my 2022 Honda CR-V and LOVE it.
I've driven a Honda coupe for year s in Wisconsin without awd. It's not a must . Snow tires work just fine. However if I had more money awd is the way to go
Nothing beats 4 wheel drive !
Any issues with the turbo ?
My mom had 2 different model CRV's. Best vehicles she owned!
Our 2018 CRV has been absolutely amazing. We get better than advertised fuel mileage and it handles awesome on the roads in our Canadian winters
I'll take more cubic inches to get more power.
there is also the benefit of port fuel injection and no turbo with the hybrid crv. less stress may stretch the engine life further.
Any oil dilution?
@@m1kcan1 Haven't experienced any to date. I change my oil every 4000 miles.

Love a nice concise Scotty vehicle review. I don't need to know the "quirks and features."

I have a 2016 RAV4, love it. I loved my 2007 Honda Pilot too.
I bought a 2019 Honda Odyssey last year 11,000 miles on it at the time . 35mpg love it
I've got a 2018 CRV and unfortunately it's got serious oil dilution.
Will see how the engine holds up.
i have my crv from 2014 with the same varta battery and is the diesel 1.6 version here in Europe
Millington TN, my dad was stationed there from 1983-1984, big Naval training center there

For guys the rav4 looks more in place

I’ve been waiting for you to do this video for such a long time thank you
Nice review, Scotty. Sister in law just bought one loves it. My 2020 Accord has the same engine and cvt, very responsive and smooth.
Scotty, thank you for always giving us informed car information. You are an epitome.🏆🥇🍸🍾
Bought one of these, for my daughter. She loves it !!! I asked her, if you had a choice to buy it again, would you ???? She said, yes.
Hopefully she doesn't crash it, because a majority of children that receive a car in a silver player tend to crash it. Since they did not work for it.

CRV is way roomier and smoother than the RAV4.
Good luck getting one of these at sticker price from your local Stealership ! My stealer has a 5k markup (market adjustment) for any hybrid
I agree. Leather seats suck. Always hot or cold
