Hey everyone! The positive thoughts, constructive criticism, and general feedback comments that keep rolling in are much appreciated! Below I will address some common concerns and comments we have been receiving: 1) The HUD in the video appeared much more green than it actually was, due to render settings. Regardless, you will be glad to hear that the color scheme has been completely reworked since the time this video was recorded and is much easier to read now; and just generally much more pleasant to look at! 2) For those with concerns about using a flashlight as a melee weapon, search the web for "5-Cell D Maglite". That is what this flashlight is based off of. They are generally heavier and harder than most police batons and are specifically designed to be used as self defense weapons for security and law enforcement. Hopefully that alleviates some of your concerns :) 3) As interesting as the comparisons to Doom 3 are, in reality our flashlight mechanic is extremely different than Doom 3. In the original Doom 3 you could not use your flashlight with *any* weapon. In Guard Duty you can use a flashlight with not only the pistol, but in fact *most* of the weapons. It is also very unlikely that our game will be anywhere near as dark as Doom 3 was. More examples of flashlight-weapon combos can be seen in our first flashlight video: ruclips.net/video/Vz1KbEf8BNs/видео.html As always, many common questions have already been answered and documented in the FAQ - which you can find linked in the video description. So feel free to check that out! See you in the next video!

Interesting way to ensure the glock has a function even after getting the mp5. Glock may not be full auto, but you can use the flashlight with it. Valve sorta tried fixing this by making the glock more accurate and able to shoot underwater, but the magnum is better for a pocket sniper and shooting underwater is super situational. Fucking superb work, the animation are so fluid and crisp, while the environments seem so fleshed out and carefully created The passion invested into this is palpable and it just warms my heart seeing such a labor of love To the team: stay safe and best of luck with the development!
Woah, the weapon animations are amazing, They feel like the Modern Warfare ones!! And also i like how the main melee weapon is now your flashlight, it makes the game feel a lot more unique. Something that i never liked about the original blue shift, was that it was really short, i completed it in 1-1 and half an hour, so i hope you add more stuff to the game, so it feels a bit longer.
It looks absolutely incredible guys keep up the good work I am excited and will definitely be one of the first to dive head first in and play the remake when it comes out
Having seen and experienced Crowbar Collective's Black Mesa, I'm pretty stoked to see another swing at remaking another part of the Half Life saga, especially because this game will tell the side of Barney during the incident. Here's to success and maybe a faster development time than Black Mesa's 15-year stint. But we can always wait. . . While HL3 waits for G-Man to say "rise and shine."
Props to you guys, It seems like... History is repeating itself, But in a good way. You guys work on Operation Black Mesa and Blue Shift while Crowbar Collective works on Black Mesa. This is actually really... good to me, Hopefully one day... Valve finally found out and funds the development, thus making everything a tad bit easier for you guys.
So cool! TBH I thought this project was dead but great to see you've actually made a ton of progress. I love the idea that black mesa designed there own special Torch/Baton hybrid to equip the security guards. Millions in development cost to save money on buying two seperate peices of equipment.
Glad you like it! But you will be surprised to know that the flashlight we made is actually a real flashlight in real life. It's a "5-cell D Maglite". They are designed to be very strong for the purpose of using them as melee weapons for security guards and police officers.
Nice weapon animations, really tells the player that all Barney’s got is his body armor, rather than a suit that can carry a seemingly infinite number of magazines. (wonder how those dynamic magazines will work now with the new tactical reloads, are there alternate empty reload animations?)
Hear, hear. It's pretty clear that Modern Warfare (2019) had definitely set a new, high standard for future first person shooters to come when it comes to attention to detail with animations; especially reload animations in many different conditions.
Just so my praise can be distinct from everything else (which I wholly agree with), I love the sound design of Barney walking and running. The jangling of equipment and rubbing of fabric is yet another reminder, as everyone has said, that he doesn't have an HEV or PCV.
I love it, adds more depth to Blue Shift which is quiet basic gameplay wise compared to HL and OpFor, and it makes Barney more of a simple guy with a uniform, it also adds more consistency, considering that Gordon's flashlight is tied to his suit, and Adrian uses NVG, it makes sens that Barney uses a more traditional flashlight. And i fucking LOVE the gun models and animations
Wow the weapon animation is fantastic. I like the details like the more tactical reloading. It stands Barney apart from Gordon, seeing as how Barney is trained to use handguns and such, where Gordon is not.
I love that you actually load in the grenade! As much as black mesa shows great accuracy to weapons (including a trigger and animation for the grenade launcher being fired) Gordon doesn't load in the grenades at all! It's a nice touch I'd like to see more of.
Hot damn! Tactical reloads are a thing, flashlight + pistol combo is a thing, separate animation for grenade launcher is a thing and the animations are just gorgeous! Blue Shift was always a beast of it's own, with no access to the HEV recharges, but instead just tactical decision of whether to pick up the helmet (for some 25 pts to your armour) or the vest (for... more, but not 100 I believe) and save either for later if that was an option. In the vanilla version there were a lot of really tense fights that really pushed the player's abilities and tactical decisions to the absolute limit and I'm very much looking forward to it! Arguably the weakest point of the whole experience were the tunnel/cave exploration during the XEN chapter and I do hope this get's some kind of rework, but other than that it should be left as it was
Imagine being a heavily armed soldier or an alien that has some magical green lighting that is beyond everyone's comprehension only for some random 9-5 worker to beat you to death with a flashlight.
Ever seen the duel in Night at the Museum 2? My dad used to have one of these big-ass metal flashlights, and they really are heavy and surprisingly extremely durable.
Damn, this is nice. The animations are amazing and the torch itself is like a refined version of the Maglite from No More Room in Hell. So promising! Now, just a throwaway suggestion: if you guys want the very late game to have dark areas but intense fighting (such as HECU invading Rozemberg's teleporter room but killing the lights first, like F.E.A.R. did here and there), how about giving Barney a headlamp as an "eleventh hour" upgrade?
Pretty neat, looks pretty similar to the Black Mesa game from Crowbar Collection, which I like it that way, cause it all looks like it connects and just good.

I've never heard of this mod before watching this video, but looks really good! Subscribed :)
this is a really unique concept
i love it
Fucking superb work, the animation are so fluid and crisp, while the environments seem so fleshed out and carefully created
The passion invested into this is palpable and it just warms my heart seeing such a labor of love
To the team: stay safe and best of luck with the development!
Keep this good work guys! I am proud of you!
It looks absolutely incredible guys keep up the good work I am excited and will definitely be one of the first to dive head first in and play the remake when it comes out
I love that the warning sign for the vent you crawl through is just scribbled off.
Damn, the amount of work you've done and it's quality, it's just amazing.
The baton-flashlight is a really good idea, keep it on!
These always just get me pumped up for it when it gets out, god. A remake of Blue Shift and Opposing Force, awsome.
Please continue this, is really AWESOME!! All we need the trilogy on source!!
Great job, it's looks very good to play someday
Amazing animations and the game itself looks fantastic! The wait Will be worth it, No stress guys ♥️
@@EvilGoodGuy I had no idea. Well it looks great, love the way they hold it with the pistol, great animations too. Keep up the good work!
Nice weapon animations, really tells the player that all Barney’s got is his body armor, rather than a suit that can carry a seemingly infinite number of magazines. (wonder how those dynamic magazines will work now with the new tactical reloads, are there alternate empty reload animations?)
Not the infinite :/ 300 bullets for MP5,12 for Magnum,100 for Gauss and Tau Canon
It's good to see that you are back to work, guys!
I'm really waiting for O:BM and GD
That's even better!
I absolutely love this project, and I hope this gets finished
That looks really good. I love how it gives Barney a flashlight as a melee weapon instead of a crowbar.
I love The reloading animation remind me of modern warfare with the way the character grap the half empty mag and replace it with full one
Hear, hear. It's pretty clear that Modern Warfare (2019) had definitely set a new, high standard for future first person shooters to come when it comes to attention to detail with animations; especially reload animations in many different conditions.
@@sinisterrmx I couldn't agree more the animation is one of the main reasons why i bought and enjoyed mw(2019)
It stands Barney apart from Gordon, seeing as how Barney is trained to use handguns and such, where Gordon is not.
daaaaamnnnn its so good reload animation dude !!!
WOOOW i love the sounds and the ideas! kep going guys!
I love that you actually load in the grenade! As much as black mesa shows great accuracy to weapons (including a trigger and animation for the grenade launcher being fired) Gordon doesn't load in the grenades at all! It's a nice touch I'd like to see more of.
I meant the guy who did animation for Tripmine Studios have work with Black Mesa before.
I really love seeing maps in the background, since that's really what I'm most excited for.
The Animation of the weapons and reload remember me to CoD MW WarZone Animation and i love it
Arguably the weakest point of the whole experience were the tunnel/cave exploration during the XEN chapter and I do hope this get's some kind of rework, but other than that it should be left as it was
This is great, very exciting!
Imagine being a heavily armed soldier or an alien that has some magical green lighting that is beyond everyone's comprehension only for some random 9-5 worker to beat you to death with a flashlight.
Hahaha
Beautiful UwU

Ever seen the duel in Night at the Museum 2? My dad used to have one of these big-ass metal flashlights, and they really are heavy and surprisingly extremely durable.
f***ing amazing work guys..
YOO HOLY SHIT THE PROJECT IS STILL GOING LET’S FUCKING GOOOOOOOO!!!
That's a really strong flashlight
People to this date have used their Maglites to pound nails and crack skulls. This isn't a huge stretch.
I love these weapon animations
fuck the crowbar, we using the flashlight now
Y’all need more recognition this is some good stuff
nice, keep up the good work
Its already looks amazing 👍
Damn, this is nice. The animations are amazing and the torch itself is like a refined version of the Maglite from No More Room in Hell. So promising!
Now, just a throwaway suggestion: if you guys want the very late game to have dark areas but intense fighting (such as HECU invading Rozemberg's teleporter room but killing the lights first, like F.E.A.R. did here and there), how about giving Barney a headlamp as an "eleventh hour" upgrade?
This is amazing! I’m excited.
Pretty neat, looks pretty similar to the Black Mesa game from Crowbar Collection, which I like it that way, cause it all looks like it connects and just good.
