It was in a rather short time too. Remember that the current OBM basically started from scratch after the previous attempt which also took over another team’s work from scratch.

I feel the fact that Black Mesa and OBM both look visually consistent with one another despite being entirely different studios with different creative visions is a testament to how well both studios managed to stick to the visual style of HL1, BS and OP4 whilst updating it for a higher fidelity. Excited to see a new take on Xen, this coming from someone who adores BM Xen.
By the looks of these media, it seems that the game is gonna have a lot of small details. I'll expect that even roaches can be interactable in this game.
Been following Operation Black Mesa during the "DragonNOR" era, it's so impressive and unique how Guard Duty, Black Mesa and Operation Black Mesa has been evolving while on the horizon there is a ongoing remake of Half-Life Decay as well :) I'm so excited for all of this! I am also thinking of a they hunger source someday.... As someone who's disabled and a huge fan of the series thank you for inspired my works and creating the best upcoming mod.
Im impressed by how well designed and detailed the models and textures are, they look like they'd be in source 2 or possibly unreal engine, it's honestly mind blowing the devs can do this with source.

Half life 1 was my first ever game that I played when I was 7 years old, ever since then I was a very big fan of the half life franchise, Thank you sooo much for making the game of my dreams, the amount of sweat, effort, details put into this, is astonishing!!! Thank you so much Tripmine Studios.
1) Dude, you got a voice made for radio. No homo but goddamn, I could listen to you read through a grocery list. 2) I really appreciate how much you guys are keeping faithful to the original versions of Opposing Force/Blue Shift while updating them, from the visual design to the audio and even small details how the weapons handle. I enjoy Black Mesa but I felt like at some point they started veering too much in a "modernization" direction where it didn't feel like Half-Life 1, although I am not expressing my thoughts very well here. Plus I hate how they just made the Vortigaunts/Alien Slaves like their Half-Life 2 counterparts, really took me out of it.

Do you know how an alien sounds? the lightning they shoot are visually recognizable, how they speak between them everything is on point maybe they could be a bit less pale yeah and in the lore the vortigaunts ARE slaves it's the lowest cast in Xen
3:27 I kinda find that most of these weapon animations are too shaky, but hey since you said it's already outdated, hope you can tweak this shaky effect in the future! Also hope you guys have low detail version of these gorgeous textures, heh

It doesn't seem so obvious to some, but the richness of details that your team took care to put in these 2 games is impressive, basically you increased the resolution of every environment, objects, weapons, npcs, etc. Basically they took away the need for someone to make mods, in terms of improving the look of an object here or there, improving the resolution of what is written on a whiteboard, for example. My wallet just waits to spend on this game.
This team actually managed to make a game better then the original, Valves "further" development of Half life is sadly a letdown. I hope they will give tripemine full control, this would be our best chance to Episode 3 and an actual end of an story we have been waiting for over 12 years. Keep up the awesome work !
Ok, weird tip that nobody probably needs but i couldnt help but notice all of the dark edges in corners, even in direct light in outdoor areas. I found that increasing the ambient occlusion size and reducing its effect to slightly imperceptible, luxel scale of 4, light bounces around 200 or slightly less, and increasing the bounced light intensity multiplier by around 1.5 or less when compiling will give semi photoreal lighting in some situations. Anyways all of this work is amazing and i cant wait to play the game when its finished.
My favorite part of playing Black Mesa was Crowbar Collectives redesign of Xen. You guys should definitely take some inspiration for your Xen stuff. With your talent and tech, you could blow it out of the water! I'd love to see Black Mesa Xen in your game.

I know this is quite old, but I hope the sound effects for the shotgun tone down the metallic effect a bit. It's a grating sound, and imo reflects parts that are in dire need of oiling!
Great work, I really can't wait for it to come out, but I don't understand why can't you put crowbar in singleplayer too. Shephard in Opposing Force already had two melee weapons, why Calhoun can't have a crowbar alongside flashlight. Just a suggestion, I don't want to nag, because I know you guys already put a lot of work into this project.

@@EvilGoodGuy I believe Dark Matter is from the perspective of one of the male Black Ops units from OP4, rather than the female assassins seen in both HL1 and OP4. But that difference is semantic from a story perspective since you still play for the same faction.
The only thing I really don't want is for the animations to be in the style of COD: MW, MoH or the BF2042, with its super tactical recharge and others, because it would already be something cliché, I would like it not to be other animations more of the lot.

Yes from what I understand in the old AI demonstration grunts will be a allied NPC, because they can't stand how useless they were in Opposing Force.
