Honestly, it makes complete sense, and is super cool to see it function both as a weapon, and its intended roll as a flashlight. Very well made, and much more inspired than simply giving Barney a crowbar like the original Blue Shift did. Can't wait for these games to be finished, I just hope they come out sometime in the next 3 to 4 years (and not 10 to 15).

Thanks for making this, it's been great watching this mod get revived over the past few years and it seems it will actually be released one day. Favorite feature I have heard of this year is probably the Maglite Flash Light as Calhoun's main melee, my father was an animal control officer and I remember him carrying some in his animal control truck, so that brought back good memories. the consistency with CC's Black Mesa is very welcome IMO and I hope once this game is all done it will have about the same feeling and atmosphere as that game. I also love the improved glock, I hope it has the Factory white "u" shape rear sight like in Black Mesa, and not the night sights. Sure the night sights look cool but its always made sense in my head that Black Mesa guards would be issued the factory sights as the OEM night sights cost more. I also hope the security Hazard Course bares some resemblence to the Black Mesa Hazard Course Mod and has the shooting range part as an actual seperate firing range. Great video though and thanks again for making it. I think this goes with out saying but I await the day this is finally playable, it looks like it will be amazing from all the fantastic work I have seen. I wish you all luck on this and God speed. See you next year. Oh and one last thing, I have been meaning to ask some questions on the forums but have been lazy, so I might as well just ask them now. Will we get an option to have a semi-auto Spas-12? Will we have an options to have an unfolded/folded/stockless Spas? Will we be able to configure what of the hd weapons we want ingame (I.e. have Glock and M4 in game or Berretta and mp5) or will we be only allowed to have all HD pack weapons or no HD weapons? Will the M4 and Pistol magicly share ammo, or will we have seperate 9mm and 5.56 ammo pools. Will we have an option for the ability of semi-auto firearms to keep a round in the chamber when reloading a magazine with rounds in it? I.e. Glock is half empty, reload, then it has 18 rounds because there was still a round in the chamber. I'm very curious, Thanks! :DD
Glad you like what you see so far! -Semi auto spas 12 is very unlikely to happen -The stock is unfolded in OBM and folded in GD -currently you can only select between the mp5/M4 -the glock and mp5/m4 magically share ammo still -we have no plans for the extra round in the chamber

Personally, I never understood people's problem with the flashlight. Also the whole comparison to DOOM thing. I think that it is such a DOPE implementation! (And the story about your grandpa was really cool!) I've always thought it lazy of Barney to be using someone else's (Gordon's) unique weapon and I've been hungrily expecting this pleasant change. Keep up the amazing work! We shall be waiting excitedly for the next update and future release. :)

I enjoyed this video and hoping the best for you all, now after Boreal Alyph got canceled I have more fears that more modders will follow them and quit. We can't just give up yet, Half-Life will always have more teams and modders as time pass.
It's nice to see other Source projects implementing parallax correction on cubemaps. I wrote my master's dissertation on expanding the technique and integrating it into Source, and I'm always curious to see how other developers achieved their effects, and how far they go with it.

I'd love it if modders made HECU and security weapons from Black Mesa, O:BM and Guard Duty available to all characters in each game. M4, MP5, .357, Desert Eagle, M4 0A1 Sniper Rifle, M249, combat knife, pipe wrench, flashlight. Purely from a continuity and consistency standing.
To be fair, Half Life Blue Shift was originally going to have the Flashlight be a separate item as well, but it was cut for technical reasons. Doom 3 later re-used this mechanic, which means that Doom 3 actually stole the mechanic from Half Life. So anyone that says you guys stole that idea from Doom 3 has clearly never seen Blue Shift demos.
If I had to guess why it's being compared to its Doom 3 counterpart, it's because the Doom 3 Flashlight was used both as a light source and a blunt melee weapon.
Maybe Krim will return to re-make Shepard's Mind P.S. I hope you guys make the Black Ops fun to fight unlike the Marines in Black Mesa. HL1 Marines had way more dynamic AI and behavior (and there considerably fewer of them). HL1 Marines would retreat when wounded, only shoot when standing still or throwing a grenade, and had a squad AI system that made them altogether more interesting and less tedious to fight. I mean, BM is a work of art, but good enemy AI is so underrated and makes combat so much more fun. I hope Tripmine Studios succeed where Crowbar Collective fell short.
I actually like some of the new tracks, I could get used to Crush Depth, and Final Stretch is certainly a highlight, some of the other tracks sound a little too "Hans Zimmery" for my taste, but that and the new MP5 and weapon animations are certainly impressive.

6:36 cant say I like the fact those pipes are missing. 6:54 crates arent sadly as wooden and plankish as the previous along with the green cloth over them. Also the lamps are not in same shape but they still look nice. 7:00 roof should be redone that curvy concrete surface is missing. 8:05 sadly those generic real life flames are used and not the the thick flame blasts that are pushed out with great speeds. 8:13 that mortar/cannon is kinda tiny imo. Everything else is overcooked phenomenal jawbreakingly good like the animations/mapping/visuals/sounds and all their level of detail.
Are you gonna implement the m4 realistically (having it's own ammo an maybe sharing ammo with the m249) or are you gonna just make it an mp5 reskin like the HD models

I originally modeled the maglite to be that size, but the animator scaled it down quite a bit, to make it easier to animate and avoid clipping with the guns and stuff. Glad you like the idea though!

The flashlight/melee idea is so good imo that I cannot imagine Barney otherwise again.
I was a little worried on crocodile tears since it is originally made by artist workbench in 2007(?). but knowing it is remixed i am very happy

8:13 that mortar/cannon is kinda tiny imo.
Everything else is overcooked phenomenal jawbreakingly good like the animations/mapping/visuals/sounds and all their level of detail.
They aren't missing... All you have to do is full screen the video/image to see them. Or simply look at the very next image and look up lol

Love the Maglite as a melee weapon but you should use the 6 D cell model my dad has a few cop buddies and he told me they all prefer the 6 D cell
I originally modeled the maglite to be that size, but the animator scaled it down quite a bit, to make it easier to animate and avoid clipping with the guns and stuff.

I wonder if Barney will get any other unique weapons other than the flashlight. I was thinking some sort of flamethrower-type weapon or gravity-gun predecessor.
