This reminds me of CARDS rpg. Thanks for reviewing this. Too bad they dont have a demo. Given that, from 1st impressions alone, i'd say CARDS rpg is more interesting for me and is what i'll get next (just finished 13 sentinels and OMG it was so awesome/fulfilling. That final battle was sooo hard!!!).
and yes, you should absolutely play and cover 13 sentinels. you are missing out.

Well at least they added nightmare difficulty in one of their updates. So that's hopefully good
