  • In this Unicorn Overlord Video, I'm going to discuss one of my favorite mid game builds that has become much more viable in the late game now too, thanks to the latest 1.04 patch to Unicorn Overlord. Need something to carry you through Bastorias that isn't built around a single board attack? This is the team for you!

    Either as a replacement of the Vicking or one of the swordmaster, if you are worry about armor, I'd recomand a sorceress with the Thawing Scepter that comes with the Guard Hunter passive skill and have here at 4PP.
    While Swordmaster does not have terific magical attaque, Magic conferal effectively at 450 magic potency to the 180 of meteor slash that can be "reserved" for armored units.
    Additionally, following up with a 100 potency magic attack for 1PP with a defense reduction debuff is an almost guarantied kill.
    To that, you add the raw magic damage of the sorceress.
    you can replace the limited war horn with Gilbert Rapid order to guarantee initiative.

      Good point! Yeah that could work well too.

    For someone like me who's been introduced to TRPG with UO, I only can praise the gambit system for how much powerful you can create amazing strategies!
    Note : UO is already my GOTY so far... and by far !

    I think swordmasters improve with this for early-mid game. Mid-late game imo it doesnt matter as much as its just better to use board nukes or row/column nukers who can do 2x dmg often like gryphons, snipers and great knights.
    End of the day they're still just evade tanks at best and the change is not strong enough to make them catch up with the better evade tanks: angels, liza/ren with mirage shield, gryphons or rogues with power belts.
    I think a better change is if they got full atk bonus from the 2nd sword so they'd have better success handling armored as those units are the ones you need single-target dmg on. Everything else the aoe nukers handle..

      I think if they're buffed right and mixed in with the right party comp they can be viable in the late game too. Regardless, they're great in Bastorias. They really make dealing with all the werefoxes a piece of cake.

      @@89Gamesnever had problems with werefoxes as all my board nukers packed truestrike: hilda had heavenwyvern belt, linde twins had sniper len and eventually sniper amber lens, yunifi had eagle eye.
      On another note, just found someone selling 13 sentinels physical copy sealed/brand new for $33. So i got the free card inside. Haha
      Not as cheap as the previous online sales for nintendo eshop ($18 for digital, 30 for physical) but a solid enough drop for me for the current price tag of 13 sentinels at $60. pretty happy with the purchase and maybe i can still recoup some of the cost when i'm done with the game and decide to re-sell it.

    When I was doing my first playthrough I got really disappointed that the dual sword wielding class kind of falls off because area attacks are just so good.
    You have to put so much effort into getting them to just be okay.

    • @89Games
      @89Games  2 месяца назад

      That's true. Area attacks will ultimately always be better when fighting large units, but I like to think Swordmasters still have a place just not as cool of one we'd like them to have.

      @@89Games I think them adding more units to the game that only have one to three members but just a lot more HP would give us a reason to build units that are very good at single target damage.

      @89Games  2 месяца назад

      @@lens_hunter yeah, that's a good point. This would reduce the value of the area attacks and force us to find new starts.

    Now that's a good unit. lol
    I wanna mess around with Swordmasters on my units again.

      Yep! They're a lot of fun but they do seem to either just work great, or get demolished lol. Gotta build to their strengths!

    It’s a nice buff but it still doesn’t solve the problem of them hitting like a wet noodle against armored enemies

    • @TheRobversion1
      @TheRobversion1 2 месяца назад +2

      Yup. So it defeats the purpose since those are the same type of enemies where you need high single-target dmg on (since board nukes handle everything else in 1-shot anyways). This is why the warrior/mage does the swordmaster's job better.
      As far as evade tanking goes, theres just better evade tanking option. The change doesnt put them above the other evade tanks that were originally better than them anyway like rogues with power belts, gryphons, angels, etc.

      With Warhorn from a Viking though so tanks can't guard, and the bonus damage swordmasters can kill armored foes easily. I've seen them do it many times particularly when they crit which is often with their high crit rate, especially when equipped with Wyvern Razer swords. Now, if one of the tanks in front do survive the initial attack, then yes, it can be hard to take him out without the attack buffs active anymore. Certain enemy comps will still be difficult for this group, hence why its not a guaranteed victory group in every situation, just a fun one to use.
