16:10 ah love it when you guys explore the radiology rooms! That room you just walked in appears to be a cardiac catheterization laboratory, or simply a cath lab. It’s a type of interventional radiology suite where they perform heart caths and insert stints into your blocked arteries. Very interesting wall tiles for a cath lab. Never seen that before especially with that dark green.
Yup that first one was a good one too, had a very large 15 inch diameter image intensifier tube on the C arm. With newer tech for imaging camera chips it would require very little radiation if used with that intensifier tube.❤
The radiology area is actually dangerous because of the MRI and CT PET scanners The MRI will grab anything metal and it is very dangerous The other really big danger is if they are keeping the equipment in operation, there is a huge tank of liquid helium and the lines running to the equipment is dangerous I used to work with the equipment and replaced the power backup The system needs to be constantly powered, and they have a 208 volt battery system that keeps power on at all times. If the units lose power, it is a nightmare to bring them back online
Ironically, I do security for a living and I would love to sneak into one of these places. I would get into sooooo much trouble if I pulled a stunt like this. 😎👍I love these videos and find them to be the next best thing to actually exploring. Stay safe!
Thank you for the support! We have many hospital explores on our channel. Have you watched the abandoned hospital on an island in Boston yet? Thats one of our best hospital videos!
I Love these locations you guys find. Hospitals have to be one of the the most creepy to explore (I imagine) besides *asylums.* Thanks for this *wonderful exploration.*
I wonder why these hospitals became abandoned in the first place. Many of those X-ray machines are not that old, as the 80's were a time of new innovation in healthcare.
Abandoned Central thanks for sharing this video about the Abandoned westlake hospital in chicago it was a really good video and thanks aqgaing for sharing and God Bless.
you definitely have guts to be exploring these kinds of places. I already have a big fear of hospitals because when I was 10 my brother who was 20 lost his life in a car accident and arrived dead on arrival at a local hospital and ever since then I’ve had an intense dislike for them. there’s also something so creepy about an empty hospital especially the hallways and when they’re partially lit. This one looks like something off the walking dead especially the first episode with the way it looks, looks like an episode could’ve been filmed there
I would love to see the telco room and the radio room The radiation equipment is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS It is why they should have guards 24/7 and remove the equipment If a scrapper gets in there and doesn't realize what will happen and starts taking apart one of the radiation machines they will be exposed to lethal radiation It has happened multiple times It is really scary We had a microwave communication facility and scrappers started ripping out the waveguides and the one guy went to the hospital the next day and he told the authorities the two other people he was with. They found the other 2 guys dead in their apartments and the first guy died as well People really don't know what they don't know and how dangerous things are I didn't know about it before I was taught Now I am scared to be around the equipment
From what I can tell a new company came into ownership of the Healthcare network the hospital was part of, and chose to close it. It seems like they didn't have much of a reason other than wanting to save money. I believe there was enough public outcry about it that the hospital is now being renovated to be reopened in the future.
Why would they need it , all the sick have been cured and there isn't a single homeless person including veterans , hell maybe they can invite some immigrants in to fill it.
those rooms with that big machine is called fluoroscope and are used to perform catheterization like heart cath , interventional radiologists , interventional cardiologists
12:29 that’s a fluoroscopic x-ray room with the overhead X-ray tube and fluoro tower with the tilted table and TV monitor. That special x-ray machine in the OR in surgery you guys were in was a fluoroscopic machine of some kind. Must be a interventional radiology room.
So hear this empty hospital with electric sits empty while homeless veterans live in the street😢 millions of dollars of equipment sitting there just riding away😢 and the worst thing is this was the same way during covid and yet they spent all that money downtown Chicago we had something here workable immediately oh so sad so so sad😢😢😢
Hey man, new this exploring thing, around Chicago area as well, I’m very interested in trying to check the area out, I was hoping if you can maybe give any tips on how you got in or any other spots nearby, I’ve been to damen silos, and Hawthorne tower
There are so many abandoned Hospitals in the USA. It’s outrageous really. So much wasted stock and equipment. I live in Australia and we have zero abandoned Hospitals.
What do they plan to do with the building? Just let it be and rot away decades later? That makes no sense. It does not look like it is going to be renovated anytime soon :)
Some of that equipment should be place in other hospitals. During the pandemic they couldn't find breathing machines. If they would have gone to some of these abandoned hospitals, they could have found some equipment and saved lives!
Hi I live in Chicago and problem with this particular hospital was that they could not find a company to purchase the hospital or group I should say and run the hospital the way they wanted to run it due to the area unfortunately it is very low income and crime is high in that area so there is a lot of issues you would need trauma centers to treat gunshot victims , yeah I said it , so that’s a problem as well. This property is being disputed over still and has sat empty for this while time. I hope eventually they figure it out but I doubt it , since it seems to be an issue .
Hospitals government payed for get closed so that private health care for cash can open .Sadly it would make a great treatment center and get all the addicts cured but the corrupt government needs them to use the drugs they allow to be imported and crime to rise so they can hire more police , more judges , more prosecutors , more jails and of course extort more taxes to pay themselves for it
Security at an abandoned hospital is kinda odd, but typical because if equipment is being damaged or not accounted for then i could believe it especially high value equipment but still kinda odd if they subconsciously left everything in the idea of getting better equipment
Its actually not odd at all. The building itself is worth a lot of money. In a city like Chicago, this building would be covered in graffiti and completely vandalized within a few months if they didn't have security. 5 years being abandoned, there was zero graffiti and vandalism because security was present. 95% of explorers also didn't get to see this building because security scared them from entering.
What a waste of a building and equipment. And the electricity is still running I wonder who's collecting on making the payments. The city mayor or governor should be notified about this open building with the electricity still running somebody is bound to get hurt. What a waste of money And resources.
They had security there for about 4 years then they finally removed them right before they cleaned it all out. Now its a full construction site. Plastic up everywhere because they started to renovate it.
@@abandonedcentral what you’re saying makes sense, but how does that apply to this particular building. They plan on demolishing this building, so why would they waste money and electricity to heat pipes in a building that they plan on demolishing😮
@@TheBestofFlintCityCouncilThey need to remove the stuff first. Electricity and all for that for the people doing the de construction, I would assume.
Those X Ray machines should be the 1st to be removed! Dangerous 😮. I would call the city and complain before some idiot trys to scrap them and contaminate the city with Radiation 😮 Awesome Video😊
Those x-ray machines are harmless when turned off even when powered up the are not radioactive they produce radiation from the interaction of electrons when the collide with a spinning anode and produce high energy light
Why are you in this hospital? This is by our home. We fought to keep this hospital open and you are trespassing. There are computers and other valuable things there and there are no trespassing signs on that hospital. YOU are breaking and entering.
Honestly as long as they leave everything as it was when they got there, I don’t see the issue. Personally I think it’s great that they documented the building before it’s gone forever, leaving at least some of its history for people to see.

Idk why but tiled walls just make these abandoned hospitals feel more creepy.
You should see the ones that were in the old Cook County Hospital, dark green, pink and tan. That place was really creepy.
I wonder if they still have backup generators in there
My mother-in-law, was is one of the last people to work there before it closed
What was the reason given for the closure? I have my own ideas, but just curious as to what they were told.
Got to ask why did the hospital shutdown in the first place?

The rooms at 18 minutes are for cardiac catheterization procedures
I hope they didn’t leave those machines in, those are still relatively modern and usable.
And what the sad thing about it is it's not that old 🫤

I hope they’ve taken the radioactive isotopes out of those x-ray and radiation therapy machines. It could be deadly otherwise
They get less radioactive fairly fast as long as they don't saw into the lead casing they should be fine
Xray machines contain no isotopes. Just a fancy light bulb.
They were a while back. I was in that place when the tear down first started.

I could use one of those desks
All those machines could be used by other countries that aren't so fortunate to have their own. That's my thought
Issue is the relocation cost. Then the installation cost. Then the running cost at the poorer country.
Sometimes it’s just not doable. Sadly.
Other scenario the Resident Evil 🤔

Have you ever been caught??? I worry about you!!!
Yes we have quite a few times. That comes along with this hobby.

Why is the POWER still on? Electricity
So the water pipes don’t burst in the winter and damage the entire building. Very common throughout USA for that reason.
