I've known about MBTI for many years and studied it extensively. I often introduce people and new friends to it, partially to try and understand where they come from and partly as a party favor - it's fun and interesting. Over the years, I've come across the issue that many people don't like being "put into a box" and being "defined" or "confined." Indeed, most people don't like being told that they have limitations, having been told for their entire lives that they can do "anything they put their minds to." I put those concerns to rest by simply explaining that, "this doesn't define you - you define it." That is, you define yourself. What MBTI tells you is, where you are in relation to everyone else in the world.

I agree with what Scott says since this little talk teaches us many things, and one of them is self-knowledge, how we could define our personality even if it seems impossible. Scott also says that we should not judge people because yes, we must know them and know how to appreciate their personality, we must treat them in the same way that we would like to be treated and depending on their mood, we must know that our brain is a machine of ideas that works 100% daily. I, I identify with the color yellow since I consider myself a calm person in several aspects and I do not seek to harm others, rather I am a sociable person and I like to be empathized with the people around me.
I agree with your opinion since we are all different and we have different personalities and each one has the capacity to give ideas that are creative and unique.

I'm here because I'm an ECE freshman student and studying the course Interpersonal, it was had a lot of taken home information. It was great to know others, but most is to know yourself. Really. Enjoy.
5:52, 12:53 The more I read Personality Type models and reflect upon the dynamics of social interaction, the more I come to realize the main issue with interpersonal relationships is one of lack of knowing thyself. As already suggested in this talk, reality is tightly coupled to perception, that is you can only truly know the other if you know yourself. The lack of compassion and understanding of differences is an accurate reflection of a culture that has become imbalanced by focusing on looking outwardly (analysing and judging others) instead of looking inwards (understanding yourself),first and foremost.
Honestly some people say "I don't like being categorized" and it annoys me since it's not for them. It's for me to understand them better. Plus obviously everyone is different but It's the brain chemistry in these types of things.
But you might be from a certain type pace, and you represent none! In fact, you might want to separate yourself from that place ideologies/identities/cultures because you feel different. Some people feel they're born in the wrong body, some feel they're born in the wrong land. That's why categorizing them is like rooting them to specifications they don't represent at all.
I think some people don’t want to be categorized in the wrong way and don’t know how to move forward. Because while some are hasty about assumptions of a persons character, that person itself feels that they are not truly being understood and don’t live up to expectations.
Cheers for the Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you heard about - Chiveard Discovering Potential Framework (probably on Google)? It is a good one of a kind product for finding your true calling and achieving success without the headache. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend Sam after many years got amazing results with it.
I seem to be a cross between yellow and green, leaning more towards yellow but only slightly. Interestingly enough, this is consistent with my past personality types - I went from INFJ to ENFP. So this cross makes sense in that I remained Feeling, but moved from Introverted to Extraverted. Very interesting
EXTRAORDINARY knowledge to know ourselves better, to know our strengths and to avoid excessive behaviour. Knowledge about others (their type) helps to improve the relationships in private as well as in professional life. An awareness about energy of people around us could help us in leadership role as well to get the things done and maximise happiness. Going to be a share the video with my family to help each other identify us.
I actually did this full analysis and ended up being 93% yellow. I'm also a super creative designer who just loves communicating at work. My boyfriend is definitely a blue. He's a data scientist, hates small talk and just likes doing things correctly. Loves reading into everything and can debunk so many theories.
The problem with a model like this could be demonstrated with a little experiment. If you let a group of people choose with what colour he/she identifies, on average you should find that 25% identifies with blue, 25% with red, 25% yellow and 25% green. Now if you let a different group choose between colours, but this time you leave 2 colours out and you only let them choose between blue and red for instance. On average you should find that 25% identifies with blue, 25% with red and 50% shouldn't identify with either. My guess is that this 2nd scenario wouldn't happen. I believe the majority of the group (if not all) would identify with either blue or red. You are given a certain amount of information and then you identify with that information, disregarding the possibility that you might not have been given all of the information. Who's to say that there aren't more colours to choose from with personality traits not included on this list? Stay critical beautiful people!
If you're forcing them to choose between two categories, people will pick which ever they identify with the most. This model isn't subjecting you to picking a specific group. In fact, it shows how the groups are not defined with bold lines, but blurry ones. At one point, the speaker labels the borders between each group, as well as the groups themselves. Humans are complicated, and everyone possesses traits from every group, yet its likely they'll primarily identify with one of the four groups.
JayBee, the problem with your experiment that if only given two choices, people will pick the closest fit. A green person might say, "Blue doesn't really describe me, but I am more introverted, so I guess I'll pick Blue". So, in your experiment 50% will pick blue and 50% will pick red. If you give them an option of "none of the above", then you no longer have 2 options, and you might find that people will pick 25%, 25%, and 50% (for none of the above). In fact, when asked, many people cannot choose between the four options, as they exhibit traits from all four areas. We all do. This is just a model on which is your "preferred/habitual" mode of interacting, not a categorical determination of behavior.
In a way you can. Especially when you follow Jung's approach, who was opposed to absolute categorization. That was never his intention. He would probably say that it's likely you are either _more_ blue or _more_ green, but some people are more of a mix than others. Also, it's very possible that you shift at least to some degree throughout your life into one or more other type(s).
Then you are truly ... "Cool blue", because I am also fighting with the intent of having both, "blue and red"! But at the core we are "cool blue" and we vouch for red or in your case green, because we find some traits to be common. Oh and yes you can and you should.
Great talk, because we can take something home from this. What he is says about our personality types is ' what is mostly true to majority of people'. It does not cover all nuisances of individual personality. Thank you very much for this talk.
im blue. Extremely blue. So blue that I am a actual hermit who hasnt even left the house this month even though i exercise. I talk to noone. Have no friends, and spend most of my time studying advanced subjects including but not limited to astro physics, philosophy, high art, ethics, and historical cases of morality as structured guidance for the human race. I write literature but am most interested in achieving the state of enlightenment. I may study medicine at some point and help people, but it is too early to say
I agree. Though the whole world has the same knowledge I do if they only open their eyes. Currently, to be honest im not very useful to anyone, but im in the middle of transitioning into a fresh degree and career while waiting to hear from a publisher. In the near future, I intend to directly help people with their health as a personal trainer until I can fund my long journey into medicine. I likely wont stay in america because of their laws that make living off grid illegal (I consider living in modern comfort a deadly sin), but If I do not use my life to help others, it would seem to me any talk of enlightenment would be simply talk and no more. By the end of my life, I hope to have saved and touched several lives and cultures in addition to broadening the scope of general ethics and philosophy in this rather narrow world. You flatter me at "genius" though, I surely do not consider myself special. I just learn instead of watching tv and I actually give a shit about being a good person. Most dont

One of the best TED Talks I have seen so far and I watch quite many... When I saw the first image I instantly paused and read all the field and was like: Yeah, obviously I am red! After a few seconds, it came to my mind I should think over this again because I also could be blue. The following graphics proved my point to me even further. It was alway that way, that the only thing I was sure of, was that none of the bottom colours fitted me even a little but my partner is that yellow kind of person that would make me totally furious if a person like that(except for my girlfriend) entered the elevator. Conclusion: 60% Blue + 40% Red! I just love getting stuff done!
absolutely loved this entire video, learned so much about myself while learning how to be more understanding of others. I am sunshine yellow and red all the way, but I hope to grow more balanced between all :)
I'm all of those. On an everyday basis, I'm yellow. When in class or working on something, I become red. When a friend comes up to me and opens up I tend to become green with a bit of red. When setting goals or coming up with a plan, I'm very blue.
Your are great speaker...And explain your ideas clearly and without hesitation ....Whatever you told it's obviously true...Because what we watch or listen as we react, speak and think...We often assume that these things are right without thinking too much...Because visualisation is more powerful than brain....What we listen with visualisation we become hypnotic...hereafter I will consider everyone of thing, action which will do ...And I will get more conscious about things.

So that means you get in touch easily with everybody and get along with everyone. You would be a great team lead for a team consisting of different people, or in general a good mediator. However, you do not have THIS single trait to make you special and differentiate you from others.
I have all the colors! Green: Caring, very encouraging, sharing, very patient, very relaxed. Blue: Very Cautious, precise, very deliberate, very Questioning, formal. Red: determined, strong-willed, purposeful. But not competitive nor demanding. Yellow: Very Enthusiastic, demonstrative. I am not sure about the rest.

Brilliant speaker, excellent topic and wonderfully explained... Wow!
Wow I didn't expect to learn so much about myself in such a short lecture. Everybody should listen to this.
Thanks for sharing it!
"Cool" Blue. We're cool... Haters gonna hate
Wade Hosking lol, yellow here
The haters will be all red
Green here
Didier Goh same :)
Aite Blood
I am green, and I was born green because since I was a child I love to share things, I still love to share :) ❤
that's yellow my dude.
Interesting I think I am green but I was selfish as a kid until my mom taught me why sharing is good, I think it’s hello also tho
I actually did this full analysis and ended up being 93% yellow. I'm also a super creative designer who just loves communicating at work.
My boyfriend is definitely a blue. He's a data scientist, hates small talk and just likes doing things correctly. Loves reading into everything and can debunk so many theories.
If you don't mind me asking how did you do a full analysis?
I've never seen a better overview of the colour energies. This presentation is superb.
"Mastering others is strength.
Mastering yourself is true power." - Lao Tzu
Jay Bee exactly!
It's the nature of nominal categories to exclude information
Jay Bee You are blue:)
Cows do drink milk...that is the whole reason they produce it. Just sayin.
Just as adult humans should be doing. ;)
+NovaScotiaChick yesss
found the vegan.
The Vegans are naturally Green. :)
Can I be both colors, cool blue and earth green?
Same here...lolol
In a way you can. Especially when you follow Jung's approach, who was opposed to absolute categorization. That was never his intention. He would probably say that it's likely you are either _more_ blue or _more_ green, but some people are more of a mix than others. Also, it's very possible that you shift at least to some degree throughout your life into one or more other type(s).
yes
Then you are truly ... "Cool blue", because I am also fighting with the intent of having both, "blue and red"! But at the core we are "cool blue" and we vouch for red or in your case green, because we find some traits to be common. Oh and yes you can and you should.
Juan Amador a bit of fiery red, a bit of earth green and a lot of sunshine yellow
Situational awareness. Plays a huge role. In life. It’s crazy to me that many people. Don’t have what I would call common sense.
Wow it's been a while since I watched something as good as this one
Great talk, because we can take something home from this. What he is says about our personality types is ' what is mostly true to majority of people'. It does not cover all nuisances of individual personality. Thank you very much for this talk.
Lessons in truth.
If you are watching this video, you are probably blue / green.
yeah it seems like almost all the comments are. "I'm cool blue." also plus the fact that I am blue adds even more to the argument
exactly
Yes
Samiul Al Hossaini no I'm yellow
Samiul Al Hossaini I'm watching it cause it seems pretty fun to know my personality
Who else pressed this video because of the thumbnail.
One of the best talks ever heard! 💯
This video changed my life forever
I hope you're doing something with all this knowledge. There's nothing worse than genius un-applied.
Most dont
Direct Truth you're my soulmate. really.
Hmm. I cant tell much by your profile, but I do find Amelie very charming.
Direct Truth did you like the movie?
You were red, and you liked me because I was blue
But you touched me, and suddenly I was a lilac sky
Then you decided purple just wasn't for you

One of the best Ted Talks I have seen in a long time!!
had me before the 5 min mark. powerful. or maybe just really relevant to me right now. either way ...yes. I live with a true blue. Its awesome . He teaches me so much...
I'm ADD. It hurts my feelings when someone says I'm "odd". I'm not. I think differently.
I understand where you're coming from. You have to embrace your differences and learn to tune out the negative Nellie's.
Conclusion:
60% Blue + 40% Red! I just love getting stuff done!
absolutely loved this entire video, learned so much about myself while learning how to be more understanding of others. I am sunshine yellow and red all the way, but I hope to grow more balanced between all :)
We can all change a bit if we commit to doing so. You'll probably get more contemplative, hesitant and caring as you get older. Most people do.
I believe that’s should be the goal, I don’t why we are told we have to only maintain how we came into the world
I'm all of those.
Apparently our epistemological test is "the magic box said so."
I am BLUE... my husband RED!! Its good stuff.... For his birthday we go out, for my birthday I stay home and get a 200 year old book.

We haven't changed much in our understanding of the temperaments or personality.
Thanks Sir.. This is cultural revolution and Rich...
I had a recent Personality Assesment Test and coaching to help me understand my results came up as an near perfect, equal score of all colors - which I like to call myself a "Rainbow". The lowest colors is White, or Green in the example. This is fascinating stuff that helped me understand ME
So that means you get in touch easily with everybody and get along with everyone. You would be a great team lead for a team consisting of different people, or in general a good mediator. However, you do not have THIS single trait to make you special and differentiate you from others.
"It's more about you than someone else" so someone eating loudly in my ear is about myself?
3:46 Cows do drink milk. All mammals drink milk at some point in time, so it's not necessarily the wrong answer.
Thank you, Blue
Am blue when alone. Red, yellow, and green when with others depending on the people and environment.
