I ended up buying two boxes after your test. My 45 can handle +P rounds (Ruger Redhawk) but these look like they are good at standard pressures. Thank you for your diligent work!!
I have a Redhawk as well! I load my own, but some bullet types I can only find in factory loads. My Ruger and Encore can handle .45 Colt that will blow up most other guns.
I didn't bother extracting the bullets for you because, not being hollowpoints, there was no deformation or expansion, but when I extracted them, I made a little discovery - they're hollow. Everything south of the flanges and flutes is hollow.
After thinking about it, I guess they'd almost have to be in order to be so light. This is good information. I don't routinely carry .45 Colt for self-defense but I own several and it's nice to know there's a viable ammo option.
Great review and interesting round.... and yes, revolvers generally shoot higher with slower rounds because the barrel is in recoil when they exit the barrel - and likewise with fast rounds, the round exits when the barrel is level or not yet in recoil up - that's the why behind what you're seeing.
You might want to consider getting a Green River butcher knife. It will cut through the gel better than the thick blade of your bowie knife. Plus the Green river knives are great kitchen knives.

You're quite welcome. Glad I was able to help.

I thought that was proven false.
I’m pretty sure the projectile has left the barrel before the barrel rises.
Am I totally wrong?
Enjoy these tests with the 45 and 44
My favorite cartridge is 45 Colt, great video, thank you.
This was a really cool test, thanks! Also, love the Chaotic Good shirt!
Thanks!

Thank you for this test. Been wondering how these rounds would perform for a while now.
Inject food color?
Not very impressed with the performance of those. I wonder what the 250 grains would do.
Get some tape and do this according to FBI 2 layers denim... please use the brown compound like they did.
Where or how do you make ballistics gel?
This is purchased from Clear Ballistics. You can make your own 10% gelatin with directions online.
@@andymcgowan9819 thank you, I'm going to check online to see about making my own.
They wound by 'fluid transfer'. They cost too much. If someone made a mold I'd cast my own with lead.
250 gr plus p Extreme Penetrator for hunting
You would need a Ruger though your S&W won't handle plus P
