Yep. It will make the chocolate flavor more intense. I've used straight coffee or the instant Expresso. I couldn't tell the difference between them. I'm surprised he didn't use coffee of some sort really... 🤷♀️

i followed this recipe about two weeks ago, it turned out very well well, the bottoms came off and we had to eat them upside down, but they tasted great

I had to start from scratch with a second batch in order to have enough frosting. Also, I found the buttercream to be too salty with 2 1/2 teaspoons of salt. When I made the second batch, I just didn’t add any salt and by mixing the two batches together, it was about right. Thanks for a great large cake recipe!
I have a birthday coming up (38 on the 18th!) and totally making this cake. The whole thing, even though we’re a family of four -not inviting anyone, not doing anything; we’ll eat it ALL :)

If you aren't using kosher salt that might be why. Generally you want to use half the salt when you substitute for kosher salt.
