My friend, one of the best reviews I’ve seen in a long time. Great job. You have the voice for this or voice overs for stuff and the personality to make a fine salesman. You got yourself a new subscriber. Makes me wont this boat.
Nice review & nice boat-- just for a heads up larger diameter tires means less revolutions for the bearings (less heat) meaning longer bearing and seal life also. So when your on the interstate your better off.
I never cared much for the pods on the back. They are for shallow water running. They do add weight for if you want to run a bigger motor helps keep boat on plane. I run and old tracker jon 1987 i just picked up over the summer. It is almost the same. You have a nice boat. I like the mod v that tracker gone with. My boat is a 1648 flat bottom. I also run a Ranger Rt188 for my tournaments. The only thing i kinda thought tracker could do better was have a bit bigger gun box. I don't have any use for it here where im from. But you could always use it for storage.
I just bought a new 2020 Grizzly 1548 MVX Sportsman (Same exact one as yours but not Camo) and I think the interior lights might be LED they have 3 bulbs each from what I can tell. Been setting it up with a MG x3 45 FC, Rod Holders, Light Bar with Pods, ect, since I picked it up yesterday. Can't wait to take it out next weekend. Thanks for the Awesome Review it helped me pick my new Ditch Pickle. Lol
Have the same boat. I have used it for almost a year and it is a tank. Mine tops out at around 23-26 with just me and gear but it has got me everywhere I need to go. Love the 4 stroke and fuel efficiency is great, however I think the the boat could handle a little more horse power.
Good video thank you, strapping those tie downs on the back would be better in my opinion cause they pull straight down rather than having to turn the corner around the pods. I would leave them vertical the way you have em now. Thanks again awesome video/review!
I’m thinking of getting the slightly bigger 1654 sportsman with the 40hp on it for duck hunting in the backwaters of the Texas coast bay. How do you think this boat would perform under those conditions and in that saltwater? I’m talking about shallow water where we can wade and being able to get us out of there after a hunt. Most everyone out here I see are guides with 70k dollar airboats that run on basically dry land so I really have no one to ask. These bass pro boats are readily available, accessible and affordable compared to other options and I don’t see another option besides an airboat which isn’t happening.
For occasional saltwater use, I don't think it would be a big deal and would work quite well. However, if you plan on using it in saltwater every trip just make sure to clean and wash the hull thoroughly. The rivets are made of steel and can corrode if not properly cared for. With the motor trimmed a can get into 9"-12" of water with a 25hp. A 40hp may differ.
Love your two overviews of this boat! But would like to know what was the out of the door cost for the bare Bones without any of the accessories you've added?
@@BuckcreekTV that is really not bad at all. I haven't had a boat in many years now the last boat I had was a used piece of crap and when I got rid of it I swore that I would never own another boat until I could buy something brand new. I am now in a position where I could buy something like this brand new so I really do appreciate the info.
I love it man I really do those flotation pods allow you to put bigger engine on the back you know you can put a 30 on that thing with no problem specially a Yamaha
How much does your boat trailer and engine weigh altogether? I am older and am looking to buy a smaller lighter boat for lake fishing. Do you think Mercury still makes a good four-stroke motor? I hear so much about Japanese motors and not so much about mercury. Thank you for your help and God Bless!!
@@BuckcreekTV Hello, how does the 45 pound Motor Guide on that boat? I'm picking up a green 1548 SPT next week and don't want to break the bank on a trolling motor.
I have a 2018 Grizzly 1654 sportsman with a 40 Merc and I love it. Does about 32-33 mph and handles very well, even in a good lake chop. This was a nice overview of the 1548.
I just bought the 1654 T Sportsman. Any advice on mounting the trolling motor? I'm going to run a quick attach mount as you did. Do you like the motor guide? What shaft length? Thanks bud!
The quick attach amount has been awesome. As far as mounting goes I don’t have much advice. I have on of the shorter shaft length (36in. I think) 45lb and that has been plenty deep and powerful. Just make sure you mount it far enough forward to miss the front light you are good to go. The motor guide X3 has been ok but it’s built fairly cheap... you may want to consider a minn Kota
@@BuckcreekTV thanks for your reply. I had a minn kota on my last boat, so I'll probably take your advice. Yeah, I was concerned with interference with the light/horn location. Not a whole lot of room/options. My last boat the head of the trolling motor hung over the gunwale, and was always bumping into things (docks/pilings/etc.) Eventually it cracked the plastic!
With the short shaft length you may get away with it being more protected but likely it’s still going to hang over:/ I’m not sure if there is anything you can do about it. No problem though glad I can help.
I'm sorry I just saw this. I don't think it's very underpowered but it would have been nice to get a 30 or 40 hp rating rather than only 25hp it does take time to get on plane but does well with a load. They are going to discontinue the 1548 since the 1648 is so similar.
Generally 1 1/2 ft/ of water or so I made a video on this that may help you can find it on my channel or it should come up in a youtube search for "1548 Tracker Sporstman review"
I purchased this same boat earlier this year. The boat has done well in good size waves on a bigger lake I fish on! Awesome boat and he does a great review!
The New Tohatsu as in 2020 have a 2.17 gear ratio.. The mercs wich is the same engine has a 1.92 that limits the pitch .. hell even the 20 hp has 2.15 and is 60+ pounds lighter..merc needs to fix the 25 and 30 hp.
I live up in North Ms, and saving up for the same boat. Any chance we could meet up at a lake so I can get a feel for this boat? As a Co-Angler in BFLs I know boats don’t run on thanks. If interested Facebook me and we ll make something happen once the roads thaw out.

Best review ever thank you going this morning to see them in person, I now will be thinking of your review as I look at this boat thank you
Glad I could help
Hey man this video was one of the main reasons I purchased this boat! I appreciate you taking the time to make the video!
Of course! I am glad it helped you with your decision. There aren't many videos out there on this boat so I hoped it would be beneficial.
@@BuckcreekTV I agree! Your video was the only review I could find.

Good tip!
Mercury’s new 400hp V8 tiller handle outboard would compliment that boat quite well. It’ll get you out of the hole and on plane even fully loaded.

I agree, I think the boat can handle at least a 30 hp
I definitely think it could handle a 50 probably more if you’re bold enough or use a 2 stroke

I believe a little below 11k before taxes registration etc.

Nope

The entire package is under 1500lbs. The mercury is good I’ve had 3 now with few problems. Although I like Suzuki as well
@@BuckcreekTV tohatsu makes the small mercurys now , in s, korea
I’ve been researching the grizzly 1654 t sportsman, have you had any issues with bad welds? Saw a lot of reviews about the welds being horrible
I haven’t had any problems on mine. I wouldn’t jump logs in it but I put a 40 on mine and have been in pretty rough water with no issues.
@@BuckcreekTVthank you sir!
Where did you get that trolling motor mount
You can find them on Motor guide's website.
@@BuckcreekTV Hello, how does the 45 pound Motor Guide on that boat? I'm picking up a green 1548 SPT next week and don't want to break the bank on a trolling motor.

What do you do for a live well?
I just use an Engel live bait cooler. I’ve had pretty good luck with it. Plus when I don’t need a live well I can take it out and it opens more space

Can the rear seat be moved over while steering?
You could possibly put another pedestal in, but from the factory that is the only pedestal mount in the rear of the boat.
Can you show you transducer mounting location?
It’s a few inches inside the pontoon.
What pitch prop
Not sure other than is pretty shallow
Does the motor have power tilt and trim??
It has power tilt but not trim EXCELLENT feature
Well done report ! Thanks
how shallow can you run this boat in?

Thanks for the review. I’m considering buying the same boat.
No problem I hope it was helpful
What dealer did you say?
Wonder same thing. Thought he said West Marine but there’s only one in Biloxi, MS and they don’t sale Jon boats, per their website.
Is it good with big waves
It does pretty well it is going to be a rough ride

For skinny water, you might have to go with a jet engine.
You got yourself a new sub
Thanks man I appreciate it
Can you do an updated Jon boat video
Or maybe some saltwater fishing
Nice 👍
Thank you! Cheers!

I wish they weren’t so expensive!
I’ve made some used ones a couple of grand less with nearly the same features
Same here. Thanks
Ethanol kills carbs, not EFI...
Ethanol becomes gummy over time and can clog efi systems. I prefer to use non-ethanol
@@BuckcreekTV If it sits, sure. Th ebig reason people were so anti Ethanol is it's corrosive to the zinc inside carbs
