- All these parts can be found in a auto parts store, I do recommend that one would Connect the fog lights to the head lights so you don’t leave them on by accident (it happens), these are good driving lights and they brighten things up a lot, this wasn’t too much of a hassle to put on it was just time consuming. www.rockauto.c... Here is the deal. Orange and the black wire that is behind the dash is already hooked up. Black is the negative and orange is to illuminate the switch . Purple wire goes to fuse box or a power source. Blue goes to the relay you will install near the battery.

If I put a jumper tween the purple and blue would the factory fog lights come on? I’m trying to diagnose them.. my switch looks a bit cooked… I was hoping to get the lights to come on so I could then decide if it’s just the switch that’s bad or what… I’m sure I could check the relay but I haven’t got any way to add power to it… I did switch it with another relay and that didn’t help… any advice is appreciated!
Update: I did the jumper
Idea with what else but a paper clip! It did actually turn the lights on… now I just need to decide on a new switch… the parts store is offering them but only

I have been searching for a video explaining how to hook up fog lights utilizing the factory switch for my '01 XJ. This is by far the most thorough video that shows everything that needs to be done. You have made it simple for me to understand. Thank you.
CeJhay Johnson Thank you, I was doing the same thing and the only other way I found was to change the wiring harness (Dan H did a video on it) and I didn’t want to go through that trouble. After having this mod for a while the few things I can recommend is try your best to not let the relay get wet (it’ll keep the lights on even if the switch is off and drain your battery) and be sure to turn it off if you have your high beams on (in most states it’s illegal to have both on)
why didnt you just find the ends of the wires coming off the switch and just tap into those so you didnt have to mess with all that? if the switch is there then there is an end to that switch. thats what i did. took 5 minutes to add fog lights
I would have buy mine didn’t have the built in connections like most
Hi, when turn on the main lights the switch is on? I know turn on green when the fog lights are ready

Luis Galarza they will turn on independently/separately from main headlights. The small green light on the switch indicates the switch has power

A multi tool would WAAYYY easier. You literally cut those out the most complicated way possible.
1) pneumatic die grinder
2) cutting but
3) air compressor
4) air hose
5) flat file
Or
1) battery multi-tool and blade....
2) done.
I have factory fog lights on my 98’ grand Cherokee , when I turn them on ..after a few seconds they blow a fuse.

One is bad. Light or wire.
A RUclipsr had the same issue and it turned out to be the live wire and ground wire was touching each other inside the light housing. Moving one from the other and a little tape for security fixed the issue. His troubleshooting was disconnecting one light and try, then other with the first hooked up if same issue.
what AWG are you using? depending on the gauge of wire will lower or raise your watts. if it is factory you need to know what fuse you need or you have a relay going out. try replacing the relay and fuse first.

Richard Fernandez I’m not trying to say I’m a “badass”, I’ve had rounds go over my head (was accidents by others) I’ve had copper jackets from rounds hit me, I shoot Idpa and 2gun matches and I’m proficient, I don’t claim to be a badass whatsoever, I’m leaving for the military here soon and that’s all, don’t be ignorant.
