I came to this realization about a year ago when I wanted to swap the fogs from my rusted 2000 xj to my new-to-me rust free 99. I thought we were golden when I was able to swap in the switch and after hours of fighting the fogs off the 00 I learned the news on the 99 😂
watched this whole video thinking "maybe I'll tackle this on mine" then I remembered I have an aftermarket winch bumper with no spots for the fogs lmao. I'm gonna check my 01 right now though just to see if it has the pins in place.
what a mess of a swap. but i'm glad someone has a video out there for us in the enthusiast community. How often do you even see XJs with stock front bumpers?
Thank you very much for the video. Now it’s time for me to add the fog lights I will need a 4 switch panel, the switch, the lights and a relay and I will be golden
I got a 97. But no fog light. I think i dont have the wireharness ect. Can you make a video explaning how to wire up a clean oem type. I watched your headlight harness swap by jeepcable. And i will be doing that too
Going to try this on my wj, factory harness removed the connectors I believe 2002 model year which I have so now I gotta figure out out how to get powers from the relay under my dash out to the front bumper without creating a rats nest
Hey waemid, I asked abt this on another one of your vids but for the power window conversion- the body harness- do I need just the one that goes from the fuse box back to the hatch and around to the hood latch or is there more? I have that one plus my door wiring, actuators and door panels/switches please let me know if I’m missing anything.
on my 96 2 door it had the switch in the dash but no lights, i added the round stock Hella driving lights from a 2005 TJ wrangler, found the stock wires, soldered them in and viola! they worked. so if you have a fog light switch in the dash youre golden. not sure on the wires but id think they may be there, ive added factory footwell lights and the wires were there and mine has the wires there for tweeters in the dash too.
I don't believe it is, I believe that all you need for 91-96 (Might be the same for Renix Jeeps before those, I don't know) is the headlight harness and the switch panel in the cab, to the best of my knowledge all the wiring for them is there from where the switch plugs in all the way out to the connector for the headlight harness. I've never done the swap, so take that with a grain of salt, but I do intend to, my Jeep just has the rude habit of breaking itself when I threaten to give it something nice like fog lights.

It does not have the pins! 2001 Sport. Maybe its just luck of the draw on what Chrysler had left.

@@Gaugeburns50 I've never done a power windows conversion, I don't know. You should join the Cherokee XJ discord server, I know a guy who has done it
Very nice!
My 1999 has the pins as well I’m not sure of the pattern
I also managed to get my fog lights to stay on with the high beams I also have the headlight harness
Is the impossibility of this swap still true for 96 and below models?
I have absolutely no idea
I've never got to poke around on an older one with fog lights I don't even know how they have it set up
@@WAEMIDIV No worries, I will continue to look around for answers. Great video, even if it is a very niche topic.
