What a way to upset everyone who bought the McLaren lol. Everyone complained the rear tires were too skinny, now there's a DIFFERENT F1 car with properly-sized rear tires, and as soon as that comes out you can guarantee the tires will cost a fortune secondhand from all the people buying the set to part out so people who own the McLaren set can finally put proper tires on it. Why couldn't they just release the wider tires on the McLaren to begin with if they were clearly already in development? Did LEGO WANT people to buy extra copies of the new set just to get tires for the previous one?
@@Thinginator It would have been very gracious of Lego to include 2 sets of wheels and tyres in the new William set so those with the McLaren (which I imagine will be a huge percentage) could retro-fit. They look infinitely better!
Shame they didn't make minifig off the drivers like lewis Max alonso. But for people who are fans of f1, it will be a expensive year for them😂. Maby will get the speed champions ones
I think because of how many drivers are changing teams or leaving f1 next year it would be hard to include a personalized driver. Like Lewis joining Ferrari but Charles bring the number 1 driver for a few years now. Sergio is up in the air, Carlos moving on, Bottas most likely leaving f1
The reason for minifig been generic is because driver changes, even mid season These sets are going to be sold for (I presume) 2 years or 3 max If driver changes between years, there might be licensing issues, or just the set being outdated
This is a snapshot of the year 2024. Cars will change, liveries will change, sponsors will change. Drivers could be made the same way as they captured the cars.
They’ve gone with Kick (used IRL to avoid gambling laws) as the main sponsor instead, which is technically a streaming site so technically okay. Still a bit dodgy- reminds me of Mission Winnow.

Even though the tires was a huge flash point for senna's mclaren, I still don't think it's such a big issue. Don't get me wrong, its not completely accurate, but senna's mclaren is a fantastic set. I still don't think the tires are such a big issue, but to each their own.
I'm most definitely getting the Ferrari and maybe one other car, but not all of them. Already have the McLaren from this year, so it would be pointless to get the new one.
Honestly I haven’t looked at city sets in so long (they don’t seem to have the magic that they had when I was a kid) but holy cow these might change that. My first ever set was a Ferrari F1 pit stop from 2005~ Buying the new version 20 years later would be so cool
I suggest you try the city space sets released this year if your into that. Especially the mech (60428) and the big rover (60432) because those two will be retired at the end of the year. Plus a big spaceship set got leaked and will arrive in January next year.
Also the printed Goodyear means you have to buy the entire front and rear pairing to upgrade the Senna at. Really hope Lego does right by all the Senna and Lego fans and makes it easy to fix such a huge self inflicted misstep by them.
I love Speed Champions, but 2025 isn't going to be a good year for me it seems. I would have really liked to have some street cars instead. Or maybe even some more iconic movie cars.
Totally agree. It feels like next year is going to be a wash across the board. F1 fans are going to get the sets they want but most of these are just going to sit on shelves year-round, more so than usual
I foresee many resellers parting out that new Icons set just to sell the wider tires for a ridiculous price to all the McLaren set owners who don't want to buy an entire set just for the wheels.
Not happy with the Speed Champions sets getting yet another price increase in the UK; they're now £23 which is really too much now. So £230 for all ten, which are so incredibly similar to each other is a no go for me. They all look great but I would get very bored building almost the same cars ten time over, so I'm likely to only get one, with a hefty discount. However, I am glad they've addressed the issues with the wheel sizes in those sets and the Icons Mansell set. And seeing more newer pieces made for the F1 cars, I can get behind, but not accepting passing the cost onto us. I'll still wait for a heavy discount.
> Can't make more than 2 Fast and Furious cars > Can flood the entire speed champions wave + City with F1 cars that aren't for everyone GG Fkn brilliant.. whole year wasted for some of us because of this decision, why couldn't they just drop 2 every 6 months instead of this.
idk i think its nice that you can choose your favorite team instead of just getting merc, redbull, Ferrari and Mclarren all the time. no one forces you to buy them all, and if you do, you can get the entire grid in one swoop all matching together. i see it as an absolute win
I'd imagine the reason for the general drivers is that each team has two different drivers, and if you've only got one driver for a team being represented you can't just exclude the other.
I don’t like bashing, but they absolutely failed miserable on the Senna MP4. Like criminally so. I hope the set flopped or is going to, as that was just unacceptable. They should ‘reimburse’ every purchased set with a pair for free. (That were ordered through Lego’s website)

Very cool. I don't think I mentioned it. And, I'm not 100% sure. But, from what I can see, it appears there is a proper width difference between the front and rear tires, the rear being wider. If I go down this hole, I'll likely just focus on the Speed Champions for consistency in scale and design. Also, I think there may be an Amazon exclusive that has a pack of the SC's, I think all 10.
