I am from eastern Europe, but Mexican food is my favorite. I love the sauces, the spices, the random combos you guys make, especially seafood (oysters, shrimp, etc.) When I make tacos I always like to get the smallest tortillas, for some reason those taste the best to me. Also thank you for the video.
hahaha I am from the Mediterranean and Mexican food is by far my favorite too. I literally just got done posting pretty much exactly what you said on another video just 2 minutes ago! nothing comes close to mexican food, there is just so many dishes so many great complex flavors.. its hard to beat it imo....
I just wanted to say, on 2/22/22 did a big taco Tuesday event hosting my Mom, and wife's family. I used your marinade recipe for carne asada, recipes for taco salsa, refried beans, and red salsa. (My Mom also made some fried bread as we are Alaskan Native, so we made what they called Navajo Tacos as one of the items) Everyone was blown away, especially by the refried beans and I never seen my wife's family go crazy over any kind of food like they did for the red salsa. I had a bunch of diced tomato and onion available, and realized I needed to cook them, so I sweated them and followed the recipe and oh my goodness I have never had salsa like that. My Mom later texted me telling me I was a good cook. I credit you and all of your amazing and wonderful videos. Your videos are fantastic and you are awesome at teaching and sharing of your cultural recipes. Thank you and you are welcome here in AK anytime! - Jonathan
Thank you, I was stationed in San Diego years ago. Stuck in the north east now. I so miss good food. Introducing this to my wife this weekend. I'm sure she will be asking me to cook it for her quite often
I love this. I’m married to a Mexican so when my in laws come over I can cook something the entire family will love. Thanks for the quick carne asada video.
As a Canadian that lived in California for 12+yrs this makes my heart sing. I love seeing your garden! I miss ours. Now I am back in Canada and living aboard a sailboat...still trying to figure out how I can grow my food. I can't wait to try this recipe! Thanks for sharing!
I just subbed. I never thought of adding soy sauce to a carne asada marinade. I have only used it with Asian inspired dishes. This looks amazing. I have to try it. If it's good, I will give the recipe to my suegra. My wife is Mexican, but she can't cook. Well, she can toast bread. Basically, I am the cook in the house. So I'm lucky. My suegra shares all of her recipes with me instead of her daughter. She taught me how to clean and cook lengua for tacos. She also taught me how to make pambazos, (she let me go with her to buy the bread too), pozole, birria, and salsas that are spicy as hell. Authentic Mexican cuisine is on point.
This is the go to recipe for carne asada marinade! Made it last weekend, and oh yeah it officially has become my taco asada meat marinade from NOW ON! It was just delicious!
OMG! Made this tonight and it was fantastic! The marinade really accentuates the flavor of the beef and the rich flavors that set this apart from any other carne asada recipe I've tried. I used two 1 lb. Flat iron steaks and grilled them over a ripping hot charcoal fire. Tender, flavorful and delicious! Thank you for sharing this recipe! Tomorrow night is chilis rellenos.
I am a gringo living in Mexico. Que rico! I am preparing for my wife’s family to celebrate my Cunado recovering from Covid (2 months in hospital). Gracias, yo aprecio!
I'm an avid griller and smoker, and that is one of the most delicious looking carne asada tacos I've seen in a while! Thank you for the video, and You just received another Subscriber !
WOW! I made this last night, and it is absolutely fantastic!!! I have three Mexican restaurants where I love the Carne Asada... This marinade blows them all away!
This I tried and it turned out delicious! I'm very happy to have found this You Tube video on Mexican cuisine. It is a practical method of cooking foods we enjoy everyday.
I just found your channel. I am a Mexican woman. However, since I was born in the USA my family never passed on the Mexican food recipes. 5hat is why I love your channel. I want to learn to cook my foods. Thank you 🙏
We followed your recipe to perfection! And the result was perfection ! Very good ! We’re looking forward to our next Mexican meal experience! ! Thank you from Canada 🇨🇦
I love the use of red oak in this video. Years ago I did some work in Santa Maria/Santa Barbara area and got introduce to red oak. I have always had some on hand since. Its a nice contrast to mesquite...you can't go wrong with either.
We get good steak here in Kansas City, and we have some excellent restaurants too. IMO, my steak compares very favorably with all but a few select steak houses. I cooked your recipe tonight following it very closely with the exception of the cumin. I am ok with cumin, but my wife is definitely not a fan. I am sure it would have been ok, but I didn't want to risk it. To make a long story short, this was one of if not the tastiest pieces of beef that I have ever prepared. Both of us were blown away. Thank you so much!
I’ve looked at several recipes today to try for my first time making carne asada. I decided to try this recipe and OMG!!! WINNER! This will be my go-to for now on. My picky daughter even loved it! Excellent
I never thought of grilling with red oak. Great idea. I once dated a Cuban girl who made carne asada for me. Omg I wish I had paid attention how she made it. I will try yours. Thx
I love it. I do mine just like this with the exception of just using lump charcoal. I use a marinade just like this or sometime I do like a tequila lime one. I usually go medium on mine
I am from NORWAY , I travel the world and I love the food that all the cultures is the world has to offer..... Besides my favorite food that is a Filet Mignon medium rare...... Mexican food is on my second place....I just love the aroma and the taste..... but this recipe made me going....One of my hobbies is a culinary experiments, I find a recipe ...and when I read it ... my mouth get watery :D.....And then I start experimenting ....This is the most true to authentic Mexican carne asada .....I made the meat and the marinade exactly as seen in this video......and......came out heavenly AMAZING.....Amazing taste , flavor, tenderness of meat.... and most of the the aroma while you grilling.....All my friends was amazed by the taste...and etc.....After eating it , they almost became MEXICANS ..... ;)
I've done several marinades that were similar and cooked the meat on the grill for tacos. This looks awesome and I'll be trying it out tonight for dinner. thanks.
I have been watching all your videos and cooking your recipes....thank you so very, very much! You do a very good job, the camera loves you, the food is delicious and it is so generous of you to share with us! I was a little boy when my grand mother passed and never had the chance to ask her for her recipes....your food reminds me so much of her! THANK YOU!
I was looking for a recipe that was close to one my best friend showed me when I visited her family in Chihuahua Mexico and After spending over two hours I finally found you. Thank you. And just so you know the only thing missing was the beer.👍🏼
Found myself in your rabbit hole. Production is solid. Love the recipes and cinema photography. I’m Sad the food I get most frequently is not as good as yours looks. Beautiful!
I’m definitely going to try this... I love the fact put the recipe in the description! Q: can you make a video for the salsa, and your favorite salsa!?
Yea here in South Texas, Mesquite is the go-to for hot grilling at carne asadas. I use oak mostly for smoking large briskets for long periods of time. Mesquite for smoking I tend to stay away from, as it can get very strong/pungent real fast. Los Jacales restaurant here in Laredo do it perfectly though, to smoke their briskets.
If I could choose only one type of food to eat for the rest of my life it would be Mexican food. I will literally eat it until my stomach hurts. Crisps and salsa are my favourite. You're lovely by the way.
Ok I've already commented but I feel the need to tell you that I've made this 3 times already in less than two week. The flavours are amazing. I pan fry left overs in butter and OMG! Putting flank steak on my Costco list AGAIN.
I’m making carne asada tacos for 20 people on Saturday and I’m really glad I watched this. Not one other video I’ve watched points out that you can’t marinate it too long because of the acidity. Super glad I watched this cause I was planning on marinating it overnight.
We made this last night. It is my go to carne asada now. The only thing I would change is letting the meat rest on an elevated bakers rack. We have one that fits perfectly inside a baking pan to capture the juices. Putting meat on a plate will not let the meat cool evenly and there will be excessive meat juice loss.
I had these tacos for the first time in the 70' as street food in Austin at a festival and have been a fan but the flavor since wasn't quite right but I think this marinade is the difference. It's next on the grill. Thanks and the video was outstanding.
Red Oak is amazing. A local restaurant I used to go to grilled their tri tips over red oak, it gave it such a delicious flavor. I'm going to try this for sure!
I am a semi retired chef and I watch a lot of food channels. I mean a lot. Food Wishes, Sam the Cooking Guy, Babbish, All of them literally. It has been a long time since I learned something new and actually had my mouth water while watching a video. Your channel is awesome and I am lucky to have found it. Can't wait to watch all of your other videos.
I’ve made this multiple times and left the lime out until just before cooking as I marinated overnight. I use my regular propane Weber grill to do it. OMG this is so good. Cooking is all about self discovery and finding your own way. If you don’t follow this recipe to the exact specs, don’t worry as it still comes out amazing. I had used flap meat from a butcher, as well as hangar steak and either meat was amazing.
Este video es muy bien! Este eso el mejor en RUclips! I’m not Hispanic, but I grew up in Southern California. I miss authentic carne asada. I haven’t tried this yet, but you have the preparation nailed. I can taste it.. lol. I’m on a quest to make it myself, and this is the most helpful thing ever. Thanks a lot for sharing.
ORALE! This is better than any restaurant or taco truck asada anywhere!!! Looking forward to the price of beef lowering so I can afford to eat this all the time!
This dish single handedly allowed me to be more adventurous towards my time in the kitchen. I never thought I could create such a delicious dish, I am very lucky to have come across your channel. My family is mostly polish. Mexican/southwest food is far less depressing than east European food lol.

Try African food. It’s hard to find tho I usually get it from family friends.
I enjoy sushi in a tortilla covered with marinara!
Mexican, Hispanic foods, and Asian foods are absolutely top notch. Best flavors, styles, and textures.
