    Question as it pertains to the buoyancy, when you started building the boat you mentioned this issue and decided to use foam core. You had mentioned this construction method would make the boat lighter and decrease the displacement.
    My question is - what is the displacement of the foam cored boat vs the chopper glass boat and how will the fore and aft mods change the bouncy?

    Bowlbus bows. You'll need 1 tone of buoyancy per hull to stop the poor-passing on this size vessel.

    • @LifeOnTheHulls
      @LifeOnTheHulls  11 месяцев назад

      I was concerned about that, but the previous boat had three goes at rectifying, the final solution was pretty smooth.There is loads of secondary buoyancy it was the primary that was the problem.The stern additions were also taken into account by Oceanic Yacht Design Marine Architects to improve the laminar flow.The tulip design reduces pitching but time will tell and can be added or shaved back to fine tune in subsequent haul outs.

    Hi mate, loving your videos, my simson cat had extra bouncy add to her the same as you are doing ,one of the issues i had was cracking at the bulk heads when it was lifted in travel lifts due to the foam compressing and not enougth layers of glass, i can only recomend adding a lot of extra glass around the lift areas to over come this .the other problem is the bow will become heavy due to the two hull in that area so if you can lighten up the orignial hull it can help. Also i would not seal under your anchor windlass as it will not drain any water away that comes in through the shafts.Merry christmas to every one

      There was a naval architect involved in the last boat.I have simply followed the lead, reduced the diving forces and increased the buoyancy in the tulip shape.This is totally adaptable after sea trial or an extended period of testing as we can shave ,add or alter quite easily with this design.Cheers mate, happy Christmas. We have implemented a bow similar to Top Gun, the fastest cat in Australia.She has a faired in bulb, tulip shaped, all of lock crowthers designs pre catana were built this way too, there were very little performance issues there also.We opted for safety and piece of mind that can be adjusted after trial period.Always a compromise.

      There is no option for us, the rake to deep and boat must stay under 13mtrs for us to avoid excessive insurance and marina fees. • @LifeOnTheHulls
      @LifeOnTheHulls  4 месяца назад

      If you add length to your scoops it will potentially create more hobby horsing, as the longer stern buoyancy may lift earlier and therefore alter the bows reserve buoyancy to respond to the downward motion.Our hull ( in previoys versions)
      had a buoyancy deficiency in the bow and required the bulbs to compensate before the stern was lengthened.Cheers Ross

    There is a RUclipsr "sailing frenchman" who has some incredible sailing footage from competing in the clipper racing around the world in a genuine race boat and also crossing oceans in "regular" boats. I mention him because he had/has this little 8-10m boat that has the wildest the hull shape ive seen in which he races (whatever you do to your boat it cant be as strange).
