You don’t have to justify your way of working to anyone. It’s your project. I like watching your videos and enjoy the process. I think you’re making great progress.
Had to comment before the end of the video. Take no notice of people that say you are not doing it right or fast enough etc etc. The best thing is to tell them to "go away in short jerky movements". I am sure Stu will understand what I mean. You are doing a great job on your budget. You are not in the same position as Mads on sail life who appears to have an almost bottomless pit of money. Keep doing what you feel is right for you. ATB regards from the UK
As Stu said you do not need to justify anything to do with how fast or slow you work. Do it at your pace and also you will probably do it more correctly than someone who goes at it like there is no tomorrow
It's your boat, your life, your money, your time and your youtube. Nothing else matters, there are plenty of other channels out there. Don't let people get to you. Loved the video x
You're not SLOW! You're doing it the right way, your way, and in your pace. Ignore those critics. They don't know anything about sailing or (re)building boats. They won't know about cups of tea either, I bet. Congrats on the floawr! Well done!
Screw the haters, you guys are doing a great job working together on your project/home. At the end of the day while you working on the boat you are also entertaining all us avid fans.
Let the haters hate, ignore them and enjoy the process. The majority of your viewers enjoy and look forward to every video. You inspire the rest of us. We see ourselves in you both. You admit you are novices at this, yet you are not afraid to try. You both are awesome in my eyes
I have noticed over the past couple of months several sailing and boat repair channels complaining about ugly, unfeeling or immature comments. I think there is a troll doing the rounds so don't take such comments seriously. As the lady from the channel Ship Happens said " it only takes one prick to burst a balloon" which I feel was the appropriate response. Keep up the hard work as we know every task takes time and many many steps plus glueing and paint drying time.
“Wabi-sabi is a concept that motions us to constantly search for the beauty in imperfection and accept the more natural cycle of life. It reminds us that all things including us and life itself, are impermanent, incomplete, and imperfect. Perfection, then, is impossible and impermanence is the only way.” - Omar Itani You’re doing a beautiful job - enjoy the ride 😊
I would be able to do what you do half as fast. I can do that stuff much faster but it takes me longer because I have to do it over and over! Good job enjoy the glassing
You guys are doing an amazing job and people complaining that your not producing results fast enough for them while they sit in their lazyboy chair watching videos is crazy.... you guys are awesome!!! Enjoy yourselves
“It’s not perfect, we’ll see, it’ll do”, I like that. I'm also not a carpenter and I have spent the last couple of years renovating our old rotten cabin. The result is not perfect, it is not a professional result but we have all that is needed and everything works. Also, a few years from now you will be in a lovely place somewhere in the world and you can be on the hard and change what you don't like.
Everything you do is real, you're very genuine about it all, you show things in real time and the amount of work you have done is tremendous, this is going to be your life, you want it to be as safe, reliable and liveable as she can be. Big respect to you both
The subfloor is perfect. You guys are always saying things aren't good enough, but I always see you going the extra mile to make things nice! It's the SUBfloor! Cmon, it's perfect!
Marina explains extremely well the project management. People who complain about the pace of your work (?) clearly have no idea how important that part of the job is and how much time it takes to do it properly.
I, too, had to stop and comment around 11:00. What earthly business is it of anyone what pace you are working at? Why are people so insufferably arrogant and forward? Comments like that should be ignored and deleted. Really! We all live our lives the way we want to or can best do, so anyone who doesn't like it can buy a one-way ticket to that hot place where old Nick will welcome them as soul mates. Chin up, Stu, that sub-floor is solid, and that's what counts. Amazing job, both of you!
Hey Stuart, don't beat yourself up. I would be proud of such an accomplishment. I tend to catastrophise, anticipate screwing upy projects and so procrastinate as it's hard to screw up a project you never start. I never feel like my results are as good as I would have liked, but I get over it and crack on with the next project... Eventually. Seriously, you guys are doing a great job and make a good team. Keep it up and celebrate your accomplishments!
Hi Stu & Marina, don't pay any attention to the negative nellie's out there. Just ignore them and remember those making the lousy comments could not have done one tenth of what you have achieved. What you both have done with Seabird is exactly that, what you have done, not what others think you should have done. Well done, keep up your good work. Phil James
Don't pay any attention to what negative people think. What's important is what you think. She's really coming together! You're in the home stretch! Nice work guys!
ignore the haters, its ur boat and channel, u do what you want in ur time. Anyone being negative is quite welcome to get their own boat and start their own channel. but they wont. keep plodding on you 2. enjoy watching every ep.
I watch your video yesterday and overnight I decided to comment. You only owe yourselves and each other an explanation. Marina was right to tell the people that think the refit is taking too long to get a cup of tea. I would have told them something more fitting to the occasion. Enough of that. You are doing a great job and considering that you are filming at the same time you are doing a fantastic job. The videos are interesting and very good quality. You two are some pair. Love watching and sharing this adventure with you. A few shots of you doing things like going to the market or just a trip to town or the chandlery would interest me. Thanks for sharing.
To your mention of the bad comments. Honestly. Most of us appreciate the pace you are working at. Especially me. You set a realistic view of the normal person who may want to try to restore a boat. It’s not fast. It’s not easy and to see the detail of the grunt work you guys have done really allows people who like me are not rich nor can afford to do everything all at once or hire people to see the progress as it comes. I have watched from the beginning and typically I watch this religiously every Friday. Ignore them. Read us. Love from Nova Scotia canada! -Josephine
Ignore people saying you are too slow, chances are they have never done anything like this anyway! Your boat your speed, their life they decision to watch or not. Personally, I love it!
Don't get down hearted it's a great job, now you can move about better in the boat. As for the bad comments forget them these type of people are not worth a second thought. Stay positive it's your boat and it will be beautiful.
Please don't listen to negative comments, they have no idea what y'all are going through with this tremendous effort to make this vessel sea worthy. May the Good Lord above shine down on you make bless this boat.
Great episode. You guys had me laughing several times. I love Marina's comment "have a cup of tea". What a lovely way of saying "kiss my arss". Work at your own pace and keep smiling.
At the beginning of this project there were some comments, I remember, that expected this boat to be in the water within 2 years. At the time I remember thinking that it would take much longer, because, let's admit it, the boat was a wreck. So, take your time, and enjoy the process. It is not only the result that counts, but also the process. BTW, I really like your epoxied floor boards. They look really nice. It's a pity that you have to cover them up, though it makes sense to find a good cover, since they will be slippery when wet.
Ignore all the windgers they have never worked on boats its all the working out that takes the time, your doing a great job that most people wouldnt have the guts to take on Such a project keep on smiling
I'm always in awe of you two! The scale of your project and the philosophy of repair, replace and reuse is admirable. I don't think anyone has the right to criticise. This week's episodes seems to show you both happy and no wonder, the cabin sole back in place is another part of the puzzle back in place.
You guys have done wonders. i watched you all the way when you had no u-tube earnings but always gave us a show snow skiing and all. You're not just a repair channel but sailing hopefully soon. Some people are horrid from behind their keyboards. Carry on being you.
Stu, you two are going to sail and live on your boat. NO ONE commenting on here will be sailing with you so cheers on ya, to hell with these computer sailers and fair winds.
Don't pay attention to the Negative Nancy's!!! Anytime you're living your best life and are happy, you can guarantee that the darkness is going to show up and attempt at bringing you down to it's level. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. I'm off to work , have to work from 10pm to 10am. Here in the midwest winter has arrived and i work outside!!!
You have done amazing work with a limited budget and and limited tools. Those that complain probably have the patience of a knat and would have never gotten half done that you have. You have basically completely rebuilt a large boat from the inside out. I love the way that you work together and repurpose materials when you can. Keep on keeping on 👍☮️ out.
Keep up the good work. Two suggestions: 1) Seal all the subfloor plywood and wood floor structure with at least two coats of epoxy, so if for any reason the boat gets flooded again, you won't have to do this again. 2) Make as much of the area below the floor accessible and available for storage of provisions for long passages. Most all of your canned and bottled food items can be stored below the floor boards and that would keep the weight down low for better boat stability... this may also keep your beverages cool without being refrigerated if the hull isn't insulated.
I’ve been working on my own boat for 2 and 1/2 years now and I’m not cutting corners anywhere and thinking plenty and doing something once, I enjoy the whole process of giving my own boat a new life and me a new life everyday, I also work on other peoples boats because they can afford to hire someone and cannot do the work themselves, on my boat I can do things my way⛵️❤️ Ye are doing fantastic and your standards are higher than many professionals, take your time and do it your way, your boat and your life❤️
Having done a floor before, thats a pretty good job. Stu is way to hard on his workmanship. As for speed/build etc, its your boat and as long as you are happy so what to the others! Be a milestone the engine going in.
It was wonderful to Marina prancing back and forth on your new floor. What a deserved journey. Looking good and Seabird is about to be reborn thanks to your diligent repairs and patience. KUDOS you two.
You wonderful, hardworking people, please don't take these nasty comments to heart. I have loved watching the amazing transformation of the yacht. Well done!!! Xxxx
I understand it is more work but let me suggest to laminate both sides of the floor panels with a thin layer of fiberglass/polyester resin. It will reinforce the floor and protect the wood at the same time as the bilge is always wet or humid. You are doing a great job, take your time. Measure twice and cut once. Cheers, Richard
Hey guys it’s your time and your boat don’t take any notice of the idiots telling you that you’re slow just keep it up, you’re doing a lovely job and the pride you’ll feel when it’s finished will be worth all the hard work and what are they going to say then! 🏴👍
As so many of the comments say.... Please ignore the negative comments - they don't deserve the air time. You are taking great care over the renovation. Keep up the good work and please don't rush on my account.
we might be rough but we are slow : ) ..my favorite channel and cant w8 for next episodes ..obviously people saying negative things have never refitted a wrecked boat and have no idea whats actually involved ..u go guys ..u doing an awesome job ..lov it
Well done for sticking up for yourselves watching your channel shows the good and the bad of restoration as does Ship happens I watch both of your channels and enjoy watching your progress on Seabird well done and keep up the good work you both know you'll benefit from all the hard work in the end.
Ignore the grumpy armchair commentariat... you're a great couple enjoying your time together and doing things your way (which is what they probably find annoying in their lonely lives). Keeping going, things are looking great and I love watching your progress!
You guys are doing a great job, don’t listen to the naysayers or let them get to you. It will be complete when it’s complete. I’m 12 months into my narrowboat project and no end in site yet but that’s life. Take care
It's fantastic to see you get the floor back down. It's been a long road, but you did it, and most importantly, you did it at your pace. Take your time and enjoy and savour every moment
I've been watching your progress from the start of this project and your work/life balance is pretty good. Better to do it slow and right than mess up and redo. There will always be sofa warrior naysayers that think they know better.
Stu, Marina. Tell your dissenters to” Foxtrot Oscar”. You work at your pace because it suits you to do so and it results in great content. Keep up the great work.
It's your boat and you make the design as you want. There will be also many haters, keep on with your plan it's coming out great. As long as you're satisfied with the final product that's hall that matters.
There is a Dutch saying... Many people can criticize other people's work... but are unable to make it better themselves. Haters will always hate.. I think you are doing very well. If those whiners had paid attention, they would have known that you work in the Alps during the winter season. Carry on like this and don't worry about it. Soon you will be sitting comfortably on your beautiful boat. And they sit behind their desks staring at a screen.
The person or persons complaining have probably never worked on a project like yours. You are doing a great job and are fun to watch. Stu, cheer up it will do you’ll see 50/50😂
Absolutely cannot believe you get negative comments about this amazing project?! Don’t reply or explain to these people. Being a troll is probably their only hobby. Let them live their sad lives and live your amazing dream!! Your hard work, ingenuity and patient determination will be rewarded. Been watching quietly, without too much comment, (but subscribed!) since the beginning. ❤ 😊
When you're enjoying doing something...why rush it, it's not a race. Take no notice, it's your project and I am enjoying all of it. Great job of the floor by the way 👍👍
I’m a carpenter and I like watching you guys . Take pride in what you’re doing don’t mind the nay sayers. If I can give a bit of advice if you use a straight edge when you cut with your jig saw it is easier to cut straight.
In my experience critics have only one skill. it is to criticise people doing the things they have not got the courage to do themselves. I feel sorry for them stuck in front of a screen instead of living and having nothing to contribute. I am on my second but much smaller boat than yours, if I listened to my critics I would not get out of bed on a morning. I think you do a great job people dont realise how hard it is when nothing is square. keep up the good work, I love following your journey.
Ignore the grizzlers, it is normally envy that motivates their negative ways, watched from the very beginning, still enjoying your progress, good luck, and the floor is good!
Take your time, I would like this build to last, so I can keep enjoying seeing a pair of folks who know just a bit about boat-resto take on jobs that the Pros do just as well, but cost a lot more money. 'Your Boat, Your Choices'. All our opinions of 'How' you do things don't matter, what's important is how many of us love 'What' you do, investing yourselves and not just your bank account is what makes your videos endearing...
I'm just watching this morning ( I couldn't watch last night as I worked a 12 hr shift and fell into a coma till 2 this morning) Some want to see things from start to finish in a couple of viewings?? They need to bugger off and watch some other channel, keep going as you are, and enjoy the progress however long it takes. In the end, you will live on a boat you know every inch of and will look awesome. You're both doing a fantastic job, Enjoy the process and keep warm when the winter hits. P.S. you might not be carpenters, but the floor looks brilliant 👌
You are right. Take your time. Otherwise stress will eat you. You need to keep such work speed to keep up years, it is not easy. Don't let other people push you up! It is your life. The best of luck to you from the Czech Republic .. Jaroslav
I love this video. Lots of beautiful progress. The floor is very cool.the puzzle is coming together. Ignore the critics. Why are they watching you? I have enjoyed your work from day one! ❤❤❤❤
No worries about a non-perfect fit with the floor, Stu. Don´t forget that fibreglass is a fairly elastic material, much more so than wood. A perfect fit might be what makes the parts rub on each others with force when your boat is going through the swell. It actually sounds like a reasonable idea, giving them an air gap between each others so they can flex the way they have to.
The joint you were suggesting you should have used to glue the joint at the beginning of the video is a Scarf joint. I was watching a rebuild of an old wood boat and this is what they called it.
Watching from the State of Wisconsin in the USA. Want to offer words of encouragement. We are avid watchers of RUclipsrs and DIYr’s like you and prefer to watch you over other cable or major networks because we love your quality content. We love to watch nice people work towards a goal and grow in their abilities. We see that in you! Keep being you, and doing what you do. You are doing a GREAT job and the vast majority of us watching are admiring what you do and can’t wait to see the progress you make each week without judgement or criticism. Keep up the good work. Love your videos and how you are making your dreams come true! ❤
Don’t bother about the people who complain about your work pace! Keep doing your way. At least you’ve got the guts to tell them ‘you don’t like our way of working, so don’t watch us!’. I love it!❤❤
You are telling your story , it may not be a quick story , but it’s yours 😉 Every job takes a lot longer than you might initially think , If people think that they can do better and faster , then they should be doing that on their own YT channel 😃 Keep up the good work , some of us do appreciate what you are doing . 😃🍻
It's your boat and your project. So you set the progress that suits you. Carry on as it works for you. Everyone can do what they can and what they want to do. It's a question of time and money.
Please do not let the haters get to you. I am apalled that some people would take time to comment this negative stuff on your beautiful and so human adventure. I think you are doing good if your joy makes the mads jealous :) Your floor is done amazingly !
You fantastic guys are not tradesmen, so you can't work as quickly as them. Don't worry about that because you're doing your best - much better than can do. If some people don't like it, they can just turn it off. I love watching you!
Hayyy. The longer you take, the longer we have to watch. Perfect.
My thought exactly
You don’t have to justify your way of working to anyone. It’s your project. I like watching your videos and enjoy the process. I think you’re making great progress.
Had to comment before the end of the video. Take no notice of people that say you are not doing it right or fast enough etc etc. The best thing is to tell them to "go away in short jerky movements". de tous coeur avec vous alors courage je vous suit depuis la France qui va piano va sano "qui va doucement va surment"
well said
As Stu said you do not need to justify anything to do with how fast or slow you work. Do it at your pace and also you will probably do it more correctly than someone who goes at it like there is no tomorrow
We really have enjoyed the build, your pace is fine
Rome was not built in a day....

Stu’s favourite sayings. “ It’s not perfect, we’ll see, it’ll do”😂😂😂 you always pull off a great result.👍👍👍👍🇬🇧
😊 thank you.
Fair from perfect...
Cheers for watching 🙂

Moving in the right direction at a speed you're comfortable with. Keep up the great work.
Well done guys, she’s coming on a treat. Ignore the bad comments, it’s your boat ❤️❤️❤️
Dont worry about negative comments... trolls... dont even acknowledge them... do your thing, it's what makes this channel special!
Take care
Stuart, your floor looks fantastic. You must’ve been a floor master in your early years.
You are doing a amazing job , and as the saying goes, measure twice , cut once
It's fantastic to see you get the floor back down. It's been a long road, but you did it, and most importantly, you did it at your pace. Take your time and enjoy and savour every moment
I've been watching your progress from the start of this project and your work/life balance is pretty good. Better to do it slow and right than mess up and redo. There will always be sofa warrior naysayers that think they know better.
I wish you would not worry about what some folks have to say…. They are setting home watching and you are working!!
You work at the rate you wanna work at and don’t worry about what other people say, either way you’re still pumping out content for us to watch. ❤
Ignore all the downers you doing a fantastic job love your channel Stuart your doing great 👍👍👍👍👍
There is a Dutch saying...
It’s your boat….you restore it how you want….and in your own time…..always enjoy your utube videos
As the saying goes, slow and steady wins the race. It is your boat work as fast as you want and do what makes you happy
Finally!!! super stoked to see the floor done. Cheer up stuart, with a little wear and tear those planks will settle in.. nice work guys..
You do an amazing job, don’t let people who have no idea what it takes to do this work bother you.
It's your boat, do it your way, in your own time. Keep the faith 😃
I've been watching since the beginning and have to say that the pace is on target. Keep up the great work!!
Favourite phrase "close enough", not sloppy or crappy but close enough. My dad used to say "Close enough for government work" :-)
That's it, close enough.
It's just a floor and a boat.
Cheers for watching 🙂
fFoors perfect and another step on the way to install of the engine . Well done you 2.
Ignore the grizzlers, it is normally envy that motivates their negative ways, watched from the very beginning, still enjoying your progress, good luck, and the floor is good!
You two are doing great. Looking forward to seeing more! Keep your spirits up you're doing great!
Its huge project being done by two people who are not experts, you are doing great. Congrats on the fresh sub-floor!👍
I'm just watching this morning
( I couldn't watch last night as I worked a 12 hr shift and fell into a coma till 2 this morning)
Some want to see things from start to finish in a couple of viewings??
They need to bugger off and watch some other channel, keep going as you are, and enjoy the progress however long it takes.
In the end, you will live on a boat you know every inch of and will look awesome.
You're both doing a fantastic job,
Enjoy the process and keep warm when the winter hits.
P.S. you might not be carpenters, but the floor looks brilliant 👌
You are doing a great job! Let the people talk, you cant make everyone happy! I am proud of you ❤
No worries about a non-perfect fit with the floor, Stu.
I love it!❤❤
Thanks. People are people.
Sometimes it's a compliment/encouragement in a very bad disguise.
Who knows..?
Cheers for watching 🙂
screw the haters you guys rock go as fast or slow as you want the people giving you grief dont have the balls to take on what you guys are doing
You are telling your story , it may not be a quick story , but it’s yours 😉 Every job takes a lot longer than you might initially think , If people think that they can do better and faster , then they should be doing that on their own YT channel 😃 Keep up the good work , some of us do appreciate what you are doing . 😃🍻
Great job with the milestones of this fall, paint, motor, floor. Those are big. Congratulations.
Don't "Justify" a thing. You do you. as far as I'm concerned you're great 🙂
It's your boat and your project. So you set the progress that suits you. Carry on as it works for you. Everyone can do what they can and what they want to do. It's a question of time and money.
Please do not let the haters get to you. I am apalled that some people would take time to comment this negative stuff on your beautiful and so human adventure. I think you are doing good if your joy makes the mads jealous :)
Your floor is done amazingly !
Good job, who cares about the people who criticise, just do your own thing.
You fantastic guys are not tradesmen, so you can't work as quickly as them. Don't worry about that because you're doing your best - much better than can do. If some people don't like it, they can just turn it off. I love watching you!
