I bought a 2019 Ecoboost two years ago and abused the hell out of it, use it a field farm/vineyard car almost 50,000 miles on it and oil changes every 7,000-10,000 ish miles, early morning my drive way is steep and I scratch the undercarriage quiet a bit also hopped a curb and spun her out a few times took her to drag strip and track racing she’s been through a lot but still chugging no issues yet!

Perfect street / daily driver. it's everything you need, looks great, good on gas and fun to drive. Sure you get more power from a GT but if you never race / track your car there is no point in spending a lot more money on the GT. As any cop will happily point out, speed limits are a thing.

@@JVette01 ikr, extended warranties are a rip off. Just drive it and buy the flood ford warranty before the 36000 miles is up. Dealerships also like to pretend warranties are based off year when it's sale date. For example the tried telling me two years was already up on my 2017 and I'm like, no I called ford and it was sold October 18. I bought it with 1600 miles. I just hope I never need to go in for warranty work cause my car is far from stock. Got some vids on my channel. I still have the stock map saved in my tuner and gmail and I have a battery charger to dummy start it however many times seems believable for the mileage.

2018 and up though you are fucked for modding because those actually show time and date of ecu flash. 2015 to 17 just shows key turns since flash which is why lots of people seek out 17s that are still early in their warranty period. Raced a gt 350 today and actually got him light to light from a stop but on the freeway he was slightly pulling me, still was happy my little 4 cylinder was barely getting pulled by a shelby on the freeway.

I have a base GT in this Velocity Blue color and love it. I kept these base wheels and vinyl wrapped them and love the way they look. With 19,000 miles, I have no known issues, and I get 20 mpg with 30% highway and 70% city driving measured at the pump (the car's measurement is about 1.5 mpg overstated).

I've decided to go with a 2018 Mustang EcoBoost. It's more affordable and very economical so the wife is okay with it, which we all know is what matters. She also likes Mustangs and the color orange so it's gonna be orange. Test drove one for a day and managed 28-29MPG city but still had lots of fun with it when stepping on it. I was surprised how quiet the cabin was and the ride was good too. Definitely a great daily you can have some fun in.

You can, but the rated hp/trigger m torque/mpg numbers are optimized with 91 octane minimum.
I have a 2018 base model ecoboost with MT82 Getrag manual transmission, wheel and stripe package and the 101A package (bigger center console display).
As a daily driver, I average 24-26 mpg mixed city/highway driving, and 30+ mpg on a long highway trip.
Mods are simple: COBB stage 1+ (CAI and OEM stage 1 tune); strut tower brace; custom exhaust (2.5” pipe from cat, single Magnaflow centerline muffler where resonator used to be, 2.5” pipes to 4” chrome exhaust tips); Steeda clutch spring, and; white cue ball shift knob.
The car is fast enough, and the lighter front end makes driving twisty canyon roads a lot of fun. The engine likes being in the higher rev range (3-5000 rpm), so you’re not using the clutch all that much. It’s a little less fun in stop and go traffic, but with the lighter clutch spring it isn’t bad.

I bought a 2017 eco, brand new (Grabber blue w/ manual trans.) I've driven it year 'round in Hinton, Alberta. This includes snow (Michelin X-ice make all the difference) and the only real issues I've had, have been with the paint. Was covered in rock chips when i bought it so the dealer had it painted under the table. The paint shop failed miserably and the paint was peeling off within a month or two. Eventually they agreed to warranty their poor work and now it's fine. As far as gas mileage goes, it's not bad by any means. In town I get about 12L/100km or 19mpg, and as low as 7.5 l/100km or 31.4 MPG. I've only ever run premium in it (91, sometimes 94 when I make 2+ hour drives). As for minor issues, I replaced the fuel sensor to prevent the "ecoboom" notorious issue, as my sensor was the known faulty one. That was only about $35 CAD and took 15 mins. The driver's door speaker blew which wasn't a big issue since my broke ass didn't go premium model and the stock sound system was awful, so it gave me motivation to upgrade it. The frame-less windows occasionally have issues when they're frozen, which was expected. The heating / cooling comes and goes. It's a common issue over pretty much every ford product so once again, not much of a surprise. Overall, it has its share of issues but it's been a consistent and fairly reliable daily driver for me. IF you end up driving it in snow, a good set of winters is essential. I also keep a spare summer tire in the boot to weigh the ass end down which helps. Handles fine like that.

I've been curious about fuel economy since Ford says this is essentially the same engine my Ranger has, with some tuning. My Ranger mileage has never dipped below 22, and with the extra weight and lack of aerodynamics, i'm shocked. My old 2014 V6 mustang would only hit the 26 to 32 mpg range on long trips- with the flat highways of Louisiana buffering the rest of my trip through to Georgia. I was skeptical of the eco-boost engine but once I drove it, I understood.

For a bit of perspective, I have a 2015 EcoBoost and I had an oil leak at 24k miles. I'm running at 46k miles and I've had a fuel sensor go out. The factory Hankook tires on the 17 inch wheels are absolutely terrible. Even with a square setup and a persistent rotate, they still go out before 10,000 miles with normal driving. Noises and rattles in the cabin are becoming more and more apparent, especially on my passenger side air vent. My headlights are wearing and fading towards the top. The resale value of the car is deminished so much (I bought used at 23k miles and it's already Diminished 6 grand in a year). Overall I'm worried about the reliability going forward, especially after my warranty just went out.

Ecoboost is meh. Spending more for the name than you are for the tech. A 4-cylinder with a turbo with a Mustang body is still a scam in my eyes. A v6 or v8 is just better.

I’m not sure what you mean... Obviously the V8 is better ($10,000 upcharge so it better be), but the EcoBoost is a great car for the money.. and certainly better than the V6. From my experience with V6 mustangs, you have to ring out the 6 to get any power out of it which makes it feel like a dog in daily driving scenarios. And it doesn’t have the easy mod potential like the turbo 4. Thanks for sharing your thoughts though!

It may surprise you that the Ecoboost was designed to output just as much, if not even more, power as a v6.

320 HP 400 ft/lbs of torque 4.5 seconds 0-60 makes it faster than any GT produced before 2011 all while getting 30mpg. That's anything but "meh". It might not "sound right" but it will take a wet dump on a foxbody 5.0 all day.

I think the main reason why people complain about the EB Mustang is the sound and name. Ford could’ve called it something cooler (like Turbo or SVO) but the 4-cylinder sound makes people mad.
