You are so right! I live in Birmingham and I have to travel to Montgomery some. You still here that accent there and in those surrounding areas but that is about it. You will hear sprinkles of it still in Mobile but, with all the influx of people there it is going away rapidly and it is very sad it is dying off.
My grandfather was from North, SC. It's a very tiny town. I bet she knew him!
