Thanks for this video. I have exact same mower. It now runs great. Please get this man to do a Mathew NcCaughnah impression. Not dude with big teeth. The dude that rebuilt carb
First time to your channel. When I first started watching I felt I was not going to find the information I was looking for but I continued to watch because I've been working on this lawn mower for days and would not run. After doing exactly what you said. I had success. My mower is running better than last year. Thank you and keep up the good work. I will definitely be subscribing.
I file the back corners of the carb until a straight edge reveals the warpage is bare minimum. Then reinstall with new diaphragm and one gasket. Had good success with it. Thanks for your videos. Both informative and entertaining.
New take on things this week, grass rats are all working together for the greater good. Very nice. Taryl now you know who to call when you need a break sometimes.lots of ham’s to you.cheers 🍺
Thanks Slippers and Taryl. Not sure I like watching all the antics when I just want to fix my mower but you did help. I watched several videos on these carbs 'running too rich', 'lumpy throttle control', sooting up spark plug, 'fuel leaking', 'not sucking up fuel unless tank more than half full', 'primer bulb not sucking fuel' etc. My mower was doing all of these things. I started off cleaning the carb with carb spray and changing the diaphragm and gasket for a non genuine version off ebay. This may have made it a little worse. Making a sandwich with the diaphragm between two gaskets made minimal difference. The problem was these plastic carbs are prone to distorting with heat and time making the surface that contacts the gasket uneven. I tried flattening it a bit with a sharpening stone and that did not help. Finally using the carburettor replacement fixed all the problems. If your carburettor is distorted get a Briggs and Stratton genuine replacement. They are not expensive as Slippers said - cant always get away with gasket replacement alone. Cheers
This is an excellent 'how to' video. My WeedEater with Briggs and Stratton starts but won't run. I needed to know how to take things apart and you sure showed me. I'm not quite strong enough to loosen some screws so I'm waiting on the right tools from a neighbor - but then I will tackle it.
I've done a few of these plastic carb rebuilds. I'm always amazed by how many people will throw away a mower that won't start or surges when it runs. As this video demonstrates it is pretty easy to service the intake on these cheapo mowers. Of course if you follow proper maintenance and fueling then these usually run just fine without too much fussing.
This video came at a good time I just got 2 of those mowers free and that's what's wrong with them so as always y'all are appreciate here in south Carolina
thank you so much I couldn't figure out where it was leaking and I decided that gasket was the problem so I went and got a new one, shew saved me from having to take it apart again, first video I came to .. sure glad I did...
I respect ur knowledge on cleaning the carb and getting the mower going, Now um gonna snatch the credit for locking Taryl outside while u used his cameraman.
Slippers must have gone to lawn mower repair night school, since the last time I saw him. Well done! Now you need to give him a bigger breakfast, so he can get that throttle plate out first time.
*Slipped up on three (3) sleeping Briggs today SlipDogg!* MowFather! Because of yours and other's videos lawnmowers all ran--and with their old gaskets I went at the small holes in the jets with a bread tie that I stripped............
Taryl,I can't believe you threw slippers out like that man,he really knows his stuff!!!.You really should hire him at least part time around the shop,I didn't think he knew anything about Briggs/Scrappen carbirtraitors.
You were lucky there Slippers. I started one with that carb on and like you I’d put the air cleaner gasket on the top. When I started it the gasket got sucked straight out. It went down the carb into the engine and straight out of the exhaust in bits.
Good video. Nice to see Slippers do something right. Also, nice to see someone clean the carb and tank on that old BS engine before working on it. Thanks for another great one.
So, the reason I watch your videos is in case I forgot something. In this case, the screen would not come off and so you helped remind me of what I forgot, which was to clean the main nozzle.
I always just put the paper gasket and diaphragm on. Now after seeing this trick slippers taught me and now that it's leaking again i'll get 2 kits and do it like this. There's your dinner
Hi, I have the same carb in my troy built washer but my issue is that it surges. I took apart the carb and everything looked great and clean what do you think the issue could be? It smokes lightly and burns gas too fast. I took off the air filter to see if that was the issue but it keeps surging.
I just cleaned one of these carbs and didnt know how to take the main jet out. The mower searches for gas now as it runs. I can take it back apart and clean it. Very easy to remove this carb
I do a dance when my repair works and my neighbors think I'm nuts..... LMAO..... Slippers did a great job, but I think fluffy the rat helped him..Hahahahaha
I got a mower just like that I replaced the primer bulb and now it runs for 5 min than dies primer bulb is collapse in sucked together I let it sit and primer bulb goes back to original shape and starts up and runs for 5min and dies what do you think it might be ? thank you love your video
Take 2 air cleaner screws and cut off the tops. Use them as a guide to install the diaphragm on 4 h.p. Brigg mowers. The soft side goes on the tank and the hard goes on the carburetor. If the carburetor still acts up, replace the carburetor. The govonor bracket adjusts the governed idle. Change the plug and sir filter. Check the blade.
I have a cub cadet when I turn the key it will not start but if I life the key turn for a second or more it will start to turn over what could be my problem
How could you not like these videos.....they are informative and hilarious at the same time
Because a lot of people have no since of humor anymore I love these guys and love the fact they live in my state
Dude, I’ve tried forever to get that throttle plate out. You’re the first video to show me how. Thank you!
Another top quality Kerwin P. Slippers repair. Done right the first time, everytime.
Thanks for this video. I have exact same mower. It now runs great.
Please get this man to do a Mathew NcCaughnah impression. Not dude with big teeth. The dude that rebuilt carb
Watched your video and did this to my lawnmower today. Started 1st pull! Thanks for sharing

Hahahaha love the end “Pull this throttle plate out”. “Pull this throttle plate out.” You guys are awesome
Great video. The double gasket trick is just what I needed to learn to stop my mower from leaking at the base of the carburetor.
This is *the most comprehensive video* on this particular carb.
So glad I discovered this channel!
Slippers is smart... lol you should include him in more fixes there’s your supper lol got me rolling on the floor 👍🏻

You are right - it is required to hoot, holler, and dance when it is finally fixed. I do that every time I fix one of my mowers now. Thanks, Taryl!
Always fun watching these videos and learning what you have to share. Thanks!
Slippers is awesome. Wish I could’ve watched this morning but doing some remodeling
Good job, Slippers! Taryl, you are getting some heavy competition there! If he learns that it is a carbitrator, he will be tough to beat!

I need some of the Phillips head screws connecting the carb to the tank - what size am I looking for? Cheers
Nice job slippers as always....
Wish I knew Make and Model of this Lawn Mower. I have the same one, and need to order the springs attached to carburetor / gas tank.
Doubling up my paper gasket and sandwiching the diaphragm was the fix I needed! Was leaking fuel at the carb/tank interface. There's my dinner!

Briggs&Stratton 148cc runs off of the initial prime then dies. Replaced the tank/carb assembly and have same problem. Any suggestions?
Way better than slippers first viral video attempt for train set transformer wiring👍
Out of all the carbs made. I absolutely love these. Soo easy to work on. And the jet hole sizes are freaking huge. Good design. In my opinion
I always just put the paper gasket and diaphragm on. Now after seeing this trick slippers taught me and now that it's leaking again i'll get 2 kits and do it like this. There's your dinner

@@gareh6003 I will try this, thank you!
@@gareh6003 What do you mean by paper gasket?
Did the new carb fix it?
I just cleaned one of these carbs and didnt know how to take the main jet out. The mower searches for gas now as it runs. I can take it back apart and clean it. Very easy to remove this carb
I do a dance when my repair works and my neighbors think I'm nuts..... LMAO..... Slippers did a great job, but I think fluffy the rat helped him..Hahahahaha
Me too a shout, a song, and a dance! My neighbors laugh, they KNOW I am just excited that I got another one going!
