Only advantage Disney World has is an actual seating area for it. Last time I was at Disneyland I recall uncomfortably sitting near a trash can in the landing in front of Pirates of the Caribbean. Hell on my back and legs, but a Hell of a show. So yeah. The actual arena WDW has is much better, even if the show itself isn't.
Disneyland has the Mark twain, Columbia, and Murphy. Those are all the reasons you need to know really.

@@terivollero7178 And besides, the Steamboat Willie just isn't the boat you want to put Disney Characters on. In the short, it was absolutely tiny! And the rounded shapes and wobbly lines don't translate well to reality.
Meh they should’ve kept the Peter Pan segment in. Really doesn’t make sense to bring in live action characters where the majority is animated.

Agreed! The PotC sequence feels really out of place, and the choreography of the Peter Pan segment was already basically perfect. As a huge fan of the original version, I was expecting to loathe the entirety of 2.0, but ended up really liking it.... with the exception of the pirates. (I don't dislike the PotC movies, either... they just don't fit!)
@@MsRedNebulaPlays yep. Agreed. Oh well. When one teensy drip of the experiment doesn't work, it's nothing to be ashamed of. Maybe they'll bring the Peter Pan segment back. Who knows?

The Peter Pan segment was great.
A lot of people are upset about Snow White's segment being swapped out for Tangled, and I completely understand that however I really prefer this! Rapunzel and Eugene on the float in the water surrounded by lights is such a fantastic idea to go along with their movie!

As others have pointed out, it's a slightly rigged matchup since the Disneyland CA version has received a significant upgrade using technology that was trialed and perfected with World of Color, in addition to Murphy the dragon. Plus, nothing was going to beat the Colombia and the Mark Twain.
That being said, I don't think Disney has quite yet used the dedicated stage for Disney World's version to its full potential.
Will we be seeing a comparison version with Tokyo Disney Sea's version of Fantasmic with all the floats? It also has different scenes, effects, and in some cases different dialogue.

@@carminecdinoproductions No, they don‘t need it in Disneyland Paris, because they already use Water Screens and Fountains with Special Effects in the „Disney Illuminations“ show. But maybe it will come as the new show on the lake that they are building in the Walt Disney Studios Park

I miss the original Peter Pan scene so much! I like how WDW includes more villains but it’s true that it does waste more time. Both are great shows and are far superior than the thrown together Fantasmic at DisneySea.
Honestly I would love to see a combination of the best parts of all three (or four if you include Disneyland’s original version) versions of Fantasmic, even if it was an hour long I would love it
The Peter Pan sequence is still greatly missed. And I still give Florida's version for having all the villains there.
The villain aspect in the WDW version is what makes it my favorite. Villains need more of a spotlight throughout the year at the parks, not just during MNSS or Villains After Hour!
Fair but the villains seen just goes on and on, plus Disneyland couldn't have much villains cuz majority of villains in WDW ver were made after DL fantasmic
Yeah, but I feel like it's too many villains. I feel like Cruella, Scar and Frollo don't feel needed since they just stand around there and do nothing. The Evil Queen, Ursula, Chernabog and Maleficent are Fantasmic classics. But Jafar turns into the snake, the Hades summons Chernabog. So I think they should cut out the other villains and just leave in Jafar and Hades.
Don't want to be rude, but Mr. Ray isn't a Manta Ray. He is a blue and white Spotted Eagle Ray.
Everyone seems to forge that DL Fantasmic back then used to have so many more fireworks to an equal amount that WDW uses it's just that DL cut back on it because it was just smoke and could barely see Mickey.
Of course the Pocahontas segment at Walt Disney World focuses on Governor Ratcliffe. He’s the VILLAIN and Fantasmic focuses on the villains- at least, it’s supposed to. I honestly believe that both versions need more villains. Less pirates, less princesses, less Lion King and Jungle Book, more nightmare!

actually, how about we don't add more villains since right now ,WDW has enough and both versions only has 4 princesses that have a center on the show. DL has an equal amount of Villians to Princesses and it follows so much better. WDW has so many villains it just drags on. You might as well just eliminate the princess segment if you want "less princesses"since it's only 4. Pirates is only present in one major scene in DL while WDW doesn't have one. And lion king and Jungle book (especially Jungle Book) are key segments of the first half of the show that everyone loves and is an excellent way for the beat of the music to transition into the next scene. And unless they make a holiday version of the shows idk how they'll put nightmare into the shows.
Pocketflutter I will always advocate for more villains because the original synopsis of the show was marketed as ‘A voyage through Mickey Mouse's imagination that culminates in a battle against the Disney Villains.’ No where in the original premise of the plot does it call for excessive use of the princesses or Pirates of the Caribbean. Villains Vs. Mickey, that’s it. I’d keep the few princesses in the show, but I certainly wouldn’t add more. Also, when I made reference to ‘nightmare’ I was referring to villains in Mickey’s nightmares, not the Nightmare Before Christmas.
While the fireworks at the end of WDW's Fantasmic may be grander, I don't prefer them just because they obscure Mickey so much! The end of Fantasmic is my favorite part of the entire show, and it's because of Sorcerer Mickey. So I'll take Disneyland's ending any day!!!

I miss the old Peter Pan segment from the old Fantasmic. Pirates of the Caribbean scene is cool I hardly ever see Barbossa on the ship just in the water screen, and while Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann are on.
Even though I only saw the Walt Disney World version in person and seen the Disneyland version on RUclips I'll admit that Disneylands is better
I'm gonna have to seriously disagree with the princess scene. I much prefer Snow White over Rapnuzel in that scene. The song flows better and like you said, is a fantastic tribute to Disney's roots. Don't like the new voice singing that sequence either.
Gotta agree with Pocahontas over Peter Pan/Pirates though. I like the idea of the Pocahontas scene. Especially since Pocahontas gets very little love but you're right about how it drags. I thought the same thing when I originally saw it.
I like the extra villains but I think they should pick different villains. Like, we got Dr. Faclier now. He should totally be put in the roster now.
Hard to argue with Disneyland's dragon though :P
At Disneyland, there's usually a backup plan in case the Mark Twain River Boat or SS Columbia are down for maintenance.
During the finale, the characters perform on Tom Sawyer Island for instance.
I will grant that Fantasmic 2.0 is way better (please WDW do an update for the 50th), the pre-show party of WDW’s Fantasmic with the 2000’s pop versions of classic Disney songs is one of my favorite things ever. And everyone is always so excited during it

Well, in 1992, the Anaheim version also opened with the head on a stick. The "Murhpy" dragon debuted in 2009. But the Hollywood Studios' version remained the same.
Mine is Mickey Mouse battle Maleficent! The California version was incredible!

Very possible due to all the 50th anniversary changes planned for 2021. ..and that wouldn't require as much change as adding a new roller coaster, hotel, or restaurant. ;)
@@michelle1 The changes planned for the 50th anniversary are very likely to be scaled back. Entertainment is still, for the most part, gone from the Disney US Parks. Fantasmic isn't returning for at least another year, and even then it will have limited capacity. Why update a show you can't even show to a full crowd?
Hate to say it, but I actually like the Pirates segment. The lighting is cool, and the first movie premiere I attended was Pirates 5, and got to meet Johnny Depp.
Bring Back Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Tic Tock! Pirates and the Black Pearl, just don't fit in the theme, or animated feeling of the show.

I'm an East Coaster, so I'm only accustomed to the Hollywood Studios version of _Fantasmic!_ When I was in Disneyland years ago, we skipped _Fantasmic!_ because we expected an identical experience as the one in Florida, but this vid proved us wrong.
My favorite part of Fantasmic is watching Murphy blow fire! It's soooooooooo cool!!!
I hope the updated version of Florida Fantasmic with the new scenes from Aladdin, Moana and Frozen will make the show much better. If that bubble scene is removed and the roster of villains is reduced that would also be great.

Disney should update Fantasmic for the 50th anniversary
I want the Walt Disney World Resort’s version of Fantasmic to have an update for the Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary with lots of new projections, new dancing fountains, a new Maleficent dragon animatronic, a Peter Pan scene with some pirates and a crocodile, more villains like Syndrome, a bigger Lion King jungle scene, more character montages, etc.!

Andy nope that’s not true... Murphy came to Disneyland in 2009. Fantasmic 2.0 wasn’t until 2017 :)
I did not see the new show till last year. I do know the first year I saw it the dragon was on a stick.

That of course is a matter of opinion. But I do agree that Florida’s show is in desperate need of an upgrade. And I don’t mean something like adding clips of Princess and the Frog, Tangled, and Frozen to the bubble scene, flipping around a couple of clips and calling it a day. Oh no, I mean a bonafide, 2.0 style upgrade!
I only ever seen the show at Hollywood studios and I was so disappointed, had such high hopes and was so open to loving this show too since Hollywood is my favorite park but it just doesn’t deliver... the bubble scene is really what killed it for me.. I didn’t want to sit through the rest of the show or wait in horrendous lines to leave the stadium. I hope they update it and make it more worth watching ☹️
The Disneyland version is spectacular! But I think everything is done just slightly better at Disneyland rather than Walt Disney World. WDW needs a "real" theater like they have in DCA. That venue in DCA is great, it's like a Broadway theater.

I loved the new update so much that it was the best show I ever saw at a theme park! Loved the video and just a suggestion, you should try comparing the Disneyland show to World of Color.

Ok I agree that DL has:
Better Dragon
Better Effects
Full Pirate Ship
And bigger area for the show
But... although with this I really do like certain things more like:
Jafar over Ka (cause he’s so much scarier and the eyes when the stare at you is able to creep anyone out.)
Being able to sit (it’s a huge factor given with kids and elders and you can really just chill out at the almost 30 something min show.)
The Pocahontas Canoes (I love the singing when the come in on the canoes, it’s truly a peaceful scene.)
And although the stage is smaller and your closer to everything I still love it, even though at times you can feel the heat from the pyrotechnics and flames lol. The only thing I’d really change to WDW is the dragon, adding in a Pirate ship like DL would be pretty awesome to see too!

Jafar snake is scarier, and I think it makes sense in the show (villain battles are the main crux). I do agree that the Pocahontas show is a bit long, but the canoes and John Smith stunts are great for the area. If they update, Dr. Facilier's "friends on the other side" would be great for vivid color and floating/flashing elements.

Yeah honestly my last trip I saw World of Color and I saw Fantasmic and on my last night there I decided to watch Fantasmic again. Totally want to give props to all the people who let the little kids sit in front of them.

I really wish I got to see the Maleficent dragon animatronic at Disneyland. I bet it was even more amazing in person.
the pocahontas scene at wdw disappoints me so much because it had so much potential - its ending with her and john smith on the cliff is one of my personal favourite parts of the show and it annoys me that the rest of the scene is so lacking

One other really big difference - the WDW cast waving in the finale are not nearly as energetic/happy as the ones at Disneyland.
@bigevilworldwide1 oh, I don't doubt that. I couldn't do it. However, those in Disneyland ARE doing it with a very pleasant attitude - even, in some cases, after having to meet and greet in the hour before the show. Take a look at you tube videos of both if you don't believe me. There is a difference. WDW cast members don't seem to care in some cases.
Michelle D I actually think the ending in WDW version is better. When Mickey turns up at the top of the mountain, its such a dramatic finale, and the crowd starts to cheer..
But overall, the WDW version needs a desperate update!
That's probably thanks to the choreographers making sure that energy is maintained, and the fact that Disneyland is near one of the most saturated talent pools (Los Angeles). Not to imply disrespect to the Florida talent, it's just that there's a LOT more talent to choose from for the Anaheim park.

If you watch a video of the finale of Disneyland's version where they don't use the boat but use the stage on the island vs. the WDW version on the stage, it's very clear of the differences.

In my opinion, Fantasmic 2.0 is the best. Tokyo's was beautiful too, but it saddened me that they closed it... 😭 WDW Fantasmic needs to upgrade, it's a shame because the arena is massive. They should either keep the Pocahontas scene or change it into a scene from Frozen OR perhaps incorporate the Peter Pan segment instead.
When is Murphy the Maleficent Dragon Size: 50-Foot-Tall Animatronic Dragon in 1991, 1992, 2009, and 2024.
I’d much rather show up to the show fifteen minutes before it starts and grab a seat than stake out a standing spot two hours early. It really is that simple for me. 😉
I don't want WDW's to get an update because the California park should at least get ONE thing they do better than the other parks
bigevilworldwide1 the haunted mansion is not better at Disneyland. Our ride is longer and has more scenes. I’ll give pirates and small world though. But Haunted Mansion is hands down better at WDW!
Such as history. Disneyland will always have its history. It’s the only Disney park Walt has ever walked through. No other park can take that away from it.

Personally I think they should change Peter Pan back then Pirates. It would feel more in to a magical Disney feeling. Plus it's a tribute to one of Walt's favourite characters.

Update: Walt Disney Worlds Fantasmic is returning with updated effects and new scenes in 2022.
I know she hasn't actually been replaced, but WDW's version has been missing Snow White since March of this year, more or less lol. So she's not even really a feature of the show anymore (her float is broken, apparently). It's a bit awkward. But yeah the biggest reason DLR's is better is because it was recently updated and had a budget for that. WDW's seems to be limping along and they can hardly keep things working. It's a 20 year old show in need of a revamp.
Also Vivian, as the dragon's called in WDW, is built on a cherry picker, so that's why she's so stick-like. Has a lot of range of motion and charming in her own way, but very outdated. Still, I don't know if it would be WDW's version without Vivi.

I just moved from Cali to Florida and was excited to check out Fantasmic. It wasn't bad, but I was let down by the sheer "betterness" of Disneyland's version
The female character on the ship in Fantasmic 2.0 is not supposed to be Elizabeth, per the show’s operating guide.

Pocahontas wasn’t supposed to be a permanent fixture. That segment was supposed to be replaced every year to promote whatever Disney movie came out. The imagineers forgot about this/didn’t have the budget for it and are thus left with an awful scene of a terrible, obscured Disney movie.

I like calling the new fantasmic Fantasmic 2000
Fantasmic 2.0 is the show that gave me direction to my life. I was just a scrappy highschooler with no direction, but when I got to see the show completely revamped it just struck such a cord and inspired me. Especially the Dragon, the massive animatronic made me want to pursue a degree in Engineering, so I have to say, 2.0 beats out everything by a landslide. It just FEELS so much more powerful
