Great Garden! The mystery plant may be an aster of some sort - its a great cut flower ;) and your dahlia looks like the coveted Cafe au Lait :))) lovely :)
It looks so much like cafe au lait! I actually prefer this compared to what it was supposed to look like.
I believe the mystery plant is a tall Aster also, I grew some from seed this year, they're so easy to grow!

You can always put a tomato cage upside down for your grape vines. Just tie them to it gently and they’ll look great growing on it.

Id love to hear about how your perennials do over winter in containers. Every time I ask at a garden center if things will survive, they always look at me like I'm crazy (I'm also in chicago). Everything is looking really great, I love your dahlias! they are my fave :)
I got the dahlias from Gethsemane in the Spring so definitely recommend them if you’re nearby! This is the first time I’m overwintering this many plants but I did successfully over winter a hydrangea in the garage a few years ago!

For containers you want to get plants that are old hardy for 2 zones lower than your zone. So if you are zone 7 for example... you need a plant that is good down to zone 5

Try petite yellow marigolds by American seed. I got them at dollar tree and I adore them! Bushy, about 1ft high max.

A great pesticide is charcoal leftovers after barbecue I save them in container and dust it in my plant after shower so it sticks couple days you’re garden looks dirty but it sure kills a lot of the unwanted creatures and plants will have healthy foliage

Your rooftop garden is beautiful :D Thank you for the tour. I think the tall flower from your birthday card is a Cosmos - I have lots of them in my garden and the foliage looks like that. They're also very tall. You'll be able to confirm when it blooms though, like you said :)

Your mystery plant is Aster flower plant
Can some one tell how to save my plants and seed sowings from birds and chipmunks on my rooftop because I almost tried so many things but still 🤦🤦🤦
Have you tried row covers? I also used water bottles cut in half with a few small holes in them but chipmunks might be able to knock those over.
@@ChicagoGardener it means can't get rid from 🐿️ to save my plants from birds I am already using a nylon made net but for these
Beautiful space, but your ‘Rapunzel’ tomato will not grow true from any seeds you collect (it’s a hybrid and not open-pollinated). You’re better off taking cuttings and overwintering if you can. Good luck! Lovely video!

You did a great job on your raised central bed. The petunias make such a huge huge difference.. I love the grey pots with the purple petunias in them - are those cement?
I believe they are the rope and weave urn by unique stone # 60003 a-c
Not cement, they're actually pretty lightweight! I took them from my mom so I have no idea where they are from, unfortunately.

All of the raised beds are from Gronomics. They sell that brand at home depot but you can also order directly from the Gronomics site!
Those tall cosmos are not blooming just like mine and several people that I know.

It was probably gomphrena! The myster plant ended up being asters and gomphrena was planted in front of them.
