    Pool Stuff Storage: you have a lovely garden... your property that is behind the pool, behind the black metal fencing,.... you could build a small cute shed to match your house...and create a pool storage shed, for all the toys, pool noodles, floaties, and scoops/nets... put in windows with window boxes filled with flowers on it...a little 'cottage'...

    We have what is called a play pool. Deepest is 4 and a half feet. I like you garden around the pool. Unfortunately like you I have to deal with basketball hoop at one end and floaties all around. With the equipment I built two fence panels on each side of filters to hide the cleaning tools also. As long as the kids are young and at home you have to find compromises, you'll get it back when they move to their own homes.

    • @edgygardener2826
      @edgygardener2826  2 года назад

      I do feel like I am making conscience compromises for other people to live around my garden areas 👼🏼 and I am hoping that those items will eventually just become a part of the scene and not eyesores to me. And, the thing is, my kids DO have their own homes! So this is for them and the little babies they bring with them. I chalk it up to the cost of having them close, and when I sit and watch them giggle and splash in the pool, it's all worth it!

    Your yard is very lovely! I have a suggestion for your pool items. How about removing the sage and perhaps some of the plants to the left of them, fill in the soil area with more of the pavers you have down, then add a large storage bench to put all the pool items inside. You probably will have to build it to accommodate the pool noodles. You can keep your pole behind the bench. Just a suggestion! ☺️

    Wow, everything looks great! I can see why the Marrakesh Coleus is your favorite. I was reading the comments and the concrete decking stamped to look like wood totally had me fooled. The only thing I would have done differently is I think the decking would have looked a little better had the *boards* not have lined up with each other in so many places. I would have staggered the *boards* during the stamping process so things would have looked more seamless. I'm putting the Fire and Ice Hydrangea on my list of pollinator plants to acquire someday.

    I would suggest building a small closet out of the same fencing and stain color to hide all your pool goodies, making it exactly the same height. It would most likely look like a bump out in your fencing, but definitely just blend right in and not be noticeable. Paint all your hinges and hardware to match the fence so it’s not a giveaway. Yard is beautiful!

Say three separate footed panels made with 4 by 4's for frame with metal or wood lattice between the 4 by 4's. You could even grow clematis behind and have them climb through. Just a thought. You needn't do anything as it's all very beautiful. It's just that you mentioned not wanting to see the pool stuff.

    A very nice garden tour. Your video was recommended. I’m also in zone 5b but in southern Ontario, Canada near Niagara Falls. You grow lot of the same plants I grow. Max Frei geraniums - I put in a few this year and they are still sporadically blooming and I’ve been deadheading. Do you find you need to do that to make them keep blooming? Ninebark - I have several in my driveway garden and they really cascade and look beautiful when in bloom. Right after blooming, I cut them back by almost half and take out old canes to the ground. This gives the shrubs time to put on new growth and set flowers for spring and by fall the branches are cascading again and look fresh. Removal of old wood is important to keep them in control. I have Tiny Wine which stay on the “smaller” side.

    • @edgygardener2826
      @edgygardener2826  3 года назад +1

      Happy you found me Susan. Our zone is so large and has so many personalities. I have never deadheaded my geraniums. They are flush in the Spring, then kind of sporadic through the summer. I do find the older they are, the better they bloom. Good tip about the ninebark. I do need to shape mine a bit right now, and it just switched to its purple-plum leaf color. I am loving it

    • @SusanMiddleton1
      @SusanMiddleton1 3 года назад

      @@edgygardener2826 If you cut back the Ninebark now you will likely not get flowers on the new growth. I’m not sure how late you can leave it before newer growth does not produce flowers.
      Our climate here is hot humid summers and cold winters with snow. But you never know these days.
