So many great recs from so many great bookish friends! I am definitely seconding that rec from Kay, Shattered Spirits is phenomenal! And okay okay, I will make sure to bump Hyperion up the priority list already hahah
can't believe they didn't mention that Annhialation by Jeff Vandermeer has 2 other books currently out and the 4th comes out on October 22nd, just in time for halloween! lots of other books to add to my tbr, thank you!!🎉
Sitting here wondering why I’m even watching a video on what books to read during spooky season when I know I don’t have time to read anyway. From mid September on we’re too busy setting up a Halloween event the whole town plus outlying towns come to at our place. I’m only in here to have a cup of coffee before heading back out to work on it again. It takes FOREVER to set everything up and run extension cords that must be buried and set up a ton of lighting. We are always working right up to the night of to get everything set up and put out. Especially all the various animatronics that can’t be out in bad weather. I’m going to have to live vicariously through you guys who can read good books all cozy in the house up to Halloween night. I do like the idea of the different season spooky books because I might have time then! 😂. Good suggestion for those of us for whom this is our busy season.
Gosh that's a lot of work! If it helps at all, Christmas was traditionally a season for ghost stories to be told (it's what Dickens was going for with A Christmas Carol, and this is also why The Woman in Black takes place at Christmas, too!) so perhaps December can be your spooky reading season? 😃
I would recommed "Ballad of Black Tom" and "Lone Women", both by Victor LaVale, "Bloodchild" Octavia E. Butler's version of pregnant man and "Ring Shout" by P. Djèlí Clark.
Hellmouth by Giles Kristina, or Fractal Noise by Christopher Paolini (you won’t have to read the chunky book 1 for this) are amazing psychology horrors, and both short which I like
@@BiblioTheory for a long time my favorite scifi have been Ender's Game, The Sand Kings, and There Will Come Soft Rains so all three have hefty competition 🤪🙌🏻
I read Annihilation last week and I did enjoy it. I also watched the movie last Sunday as I had watched it a long time ago but couldn’t remember anything about it. The movie is soooo bad though. The book is 10x better. Hyperion is one of my favorite books (but it’s not spooky though)
I didn't know that Hyperion was spooky! I requested it a month or so ago at my library, and it looks like I will be getting it in the next week or so! It looks like it will be here just in time for spooky season! I also I am going to read Salem's Lot, Dracula, and The Haunting of Hill House.

Small spaces and the rest of the quartet are so good, I love how camp and crazy you can go with middle grade horror

Fun video 🎉
A big book on DNS scares me so much. Reading The Cipher by Kathe Koja; after a couple of pages I can tell it’s a great recommendation for you.
Hyperion is on my November list. I'm pitting it against Red Rising and Empire of Silence 😜
You got some fun reading ahead of you! 🦾

No surprised that the person with the highest no. of followers gave the most boring and predictable suggestion 😂😂😂 like a clockwork
