Ola has become such a great interviewer over the last few years, it's always refreshing to hear all these stories. I love this channel! So honest, true, authentic... these days all these qualities are so rare to find. Thank you for your contribution to the world of music Ola!
I love Ola to pieces, but I don't agree that he's a good interviewer. He's a great performer and entertainer. He should interview people more, and he will get really good at it. He isn't bad at all. I'm not hating on the guy, he's living the dream and I support him.
I disagree. He focuses too much on one aspect of each guest for example he kept harping on Jared’s finger picking or Beato’s perfect pitch. The best parts are when the guests just tell their own stories like Rob Flynn’s dimebag tales.
Also Lzzy Hale, Halestorm itself and The Warning are all awesome too, only recently found The Warning whereas I've been listening to shinedown and halestorm for years but The Warning are brilliant 🤘🏻
Lzzy Hale is an absolutely fantastic person to talk with. I had the privilege to hangout with her and Joe at a bar on base while Halestorm was on a USO tour. Two of the nicest people I've ever met. If you get the chance to meet them, they are genuine people who are extremely appreciative of their fans.
Man, how awesome is it that a dude just chugging away on a 2x12 and random amp heads 15 years ago (give or take) has risen to the level he has. This gives an old metal head like me great pride in our metal community man. Lzzy Hale just gave him a badass and BEAUTIFUL Kramer after having coffee with him. You F'n deserve it Ola and I think I speak for the masses when I say... WE NEED TO SEE A VIDEO OF THAT GUITAR ASAP BRO 🤘
Its funny I was thinking about that a few days ago. I remember watching Ola's videos when he had the horrible voice overs on his drum mixing tutorials instead of him talking and explaining.
I thought dimes technique was use the picking hand to pinch harmonic? All the videos I tried to learn it from taught that. I'm a bit heavy handed to do it that way
@@ShawnJonesHellion the uber squeals are natural harmonics. then he does regular harmonics too. sometimes he divebombs pinch harmonics and sometimes he vibratos natural harmonics. if there's a way that you can do a harmonic dime did it on the regular.

My wife and I saw Halestorm for the first time about 2003-2004 opening for Shinedown in Tucson. Never heard of them prior. The lights go down and all of a sudden we hear this amazing, powerful voice singing acapella the intro to "It's Not You." Our hair stood up on the back of our necks! Met them after the show at the merch booth, and we've been fans since. So happy to see their star rising. Good things happen to good people.
I met Lzzy in 2005 or 2006 when Halestorm opened for Ra. I was working at a venue and I was going to chill in my car after being cut for the night. I decided on a whim to check out the opening act for Ra and that’s when I first saw Halestorm. I saw this female fronted band with ferocity in her voice, a drummer who played with the energy and fierceness of John Bonham. After they got offstage, I talked to Lzzy and Jay. She was so sweet and gentle offstage and humble. That’s one of the most amazing things about Lzzy, she’s grateful for being able to do what she loves to do for a living. On top of being an amazing musician, she’s also an amazing human being.
Lzzy is one of those artists that have a real iconic stage presence. Saw them live over in New Zealand with a local act called Devilskin, totally amazing concert
I was the soundguy for Halestorm in Philly at a little place called WhiskeyDix, right next to the Electric Factory. I guess it was 2006 or 7. Good to see you guys are still together Lzzy. Cheers! Congrats on the Grammy.
For anyone that hasn't seen it, Two Minutes To Late Night did one of their pandemic bedroom covers of "Mouth For War" with Lzzy on vocals, and Gina Gleason and Reba Meyers on guitar, and it rips. Lzzy's vocals are killer, and watching Gina nail the solo on a telecaster is pretty wild.
Lizzy is one of the best singer ever lived! Period. And their shows are absolutlely stunning! Love them for a years!! Firmly imbedded in my heart and soul! 🫶
Halestorm has been a staple in my playlist from the day i heard them XD was on a road trip with some friends and we stopped at a gas station came across their (2009) self titled album. half way threw love/hate heart break I remember LEAPING from the backseat restarting the song and cranking it.. by the end of the song we were doing 160 in a KIA rondo station wagon singing and rocking out. Thank you lzzy for helping create some of the fondest memories
I got so emotional when Lzzy was talking about imposter syndrome & comparing yourself...what a great interview! I've loved Halestorm & Lzzy for so many years. I finally got to see them in Corpus Christi last year & it was everything I dreamed of. Can't wait to see them again ❤
Lzzy being my generation (I'm 1979} - teenager in 90's, starting to play a guitar ... I did not know the band. My 12yr old daughter played me Halestorm several times in the car. I would not probably discovered them. Now, knowing the big picture, I am wishing them all the best! Keep on rocking! But I am also into Ola's t-shirt ... I have been playing Doom a lot on my 286.
I’m not a huge fan of that kind of hard rock, but I’ll always find time to listen to some live Halestorm, because she’s just such an awesome singer. Great interview.
I saw her way back in the day at a place called Otter Lake Campground. Her and the band played during the middle of the day at the pool for me and like 8 other kids... and I can tell you now that they put as much effort and passion into that show as any band I've ever seen. Any band that gives that much of a shit when they're playing during the middle of the day in some backwoods campground for a few kids, deserves all the fame and success in the world! I'll always be a fan of musicians like Lzzy that give a shit about their fans, and do what they do for the love of music!
I've seen Halestorm perform at the Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA several times. They are amazing live and Lizzy's voice is nothing short of incredible. Truly amazing pipes on her!
she's super nice irl....my mom met her and she remembered her name 2 years later, and the last time she was there that it was almost exactly 2 years later
I've watched Halestorm grow as a band from the local scene in Philadelphia to what they are today such an amazing group of talented musicians and wonderful people I've had multiple times to meet with and meet and share a beer or two with glad you got the chance to interview LZZY and premier her new signature guitar
Lzzy is so authentic and down to earth , I love her . Ola did an excellent job on this interview with her too ! Keep on rockin’ people , music makes the world go ‘round ! Take care and rock out !
Lzzy is great. The world needs more Lzzy’s in it. She’s a role model for younger girls in such a male dominated genre, but the female aspect aside, she is a great guitarist, great song writer, and AMAZING singer in her own right. Love her - and her band is such good fun to watch. I last saw Halestorm at Download this year and they killed it.
That was great! Lzzy is such an open person that she can't be a bad interview! Being in the business for more than a quarter of a century, and with mostly the same guys for the whole time, is astounding. I found her thru The Warning band. Lzzy invited them to open for her, so I started listening to her music. I am old-time, and She makes me think 'This is what Janis Joplin would have evolved to, if she hadn't gone off the deep end. Thanks for showing her the pitch harmonic squeals. I'm sure she will share that with Dany, from The Warning.
What a fantastic interview, her enjoyment and creativity in music is palatable and I haven't even really listened to her stuff. She's wonderful. I'll be checking them out.
My old band opened up for halestorm WAY back here in St Paul Minnesota. We were a different style but it was cool, they were so innocent, and mom and dad were their managers.
Genre aside, Halestorm is one of the best bands I've ever had the privilege of discovering. Thanks, Lzzy Hale, for keeping it metal. They crank it up to 11 then break the knob off and throw it out.
I had the great fortune to see Halestorm in Pennsylvania way back in the day when Lzzy and Arejay were just kids really. Fantastic interview Ola! Gotta say Lizzy has got one of the most powerful voices out there. She has ridiculous chops. She’s also very relatable and humble. Love the signature guitar too! Much respect for Lizzy doing songs in C, B and A.
23year in the band is amazing. The Beatles were only a band for 8 years. They completely changed music forever. What have you been doing Lzzy. What? Jokes. Love Lzzy and Halestorm. Most authentic band out there right now best Rock vocalist ever.
Such a powerful voice. She’s got a hell of a set of pipes. I’ve seen her perform live with other acts where you can blatantly see her dialing it back so she doesn’t outshine whoever she’s singing with.
Well shit... spent a whole guitar building contest making my version of LZZYS Explorer (inspired by not a full on copy )now she drops this... Good thing the next one starts soon... ALWAYS great to see Lzzy interviews.

Halestorm is great live, very genuine.
Love that you had Lzzy on! She rocks
