Thanks for being a normal person that does not need BS to impress. You are a true leader in your profession. Hope your hardwork and work ethic rubs off on whoever watching you. You are a great teacher. Cheers!
The end of the video screwed up. Somehow the voice over track got moved over too far so the end is kind of weird. Sorry, was in a hurry to leave and go work on a Dd15 Detroit and messed up.
Good honest people like you Warren will always tell the truth and you one of them, I've dealt with too many liars in my time and have zero tolerance for them, thanks for your excellent video.
That's the trouble in the world today it's not how hard you work and how honest you are it's how well you can lie. Just like warren said about politicians just a bunch of liers. It's really sickening to even turn on the TV anymore cause all the liers in there. Rather watch RUclips videos like this.
Warren, Your incredible good looks and sparkling personality are only exceeded by your work ethic and integrity. You are a rare bird indeed and I thoroughly enjoy watching your videos. Thanks for taking the time to share your work with us.
I had my own shop, much like you have, back in the 80's. I really feel your pain. After 6 years I looked at the money I made and decided that I would be better off as an employee rather than an owner. I ended up working as a plant operator at a nuclear power plant. Best decision I ever made in my life. That said I love your videos. Keep up the good work. My impression of you is that you are an honest guy whop can be trusted.
Hats off to the blokes who go out on their own, I shit myself working on equipment I’ve not worked on before and feel as though I don’t know enough to be going out to clients fixing their gear, I’ve never stayed at a place long enough to really get it all dialed in but I guess you can apply the basics and work through the issues. Be a long time before I’m comfortable enough to work for myself
I think you were meant to teach exactly as you are doing it presently. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us strangers. You are a rare gentleman.
New to you channel but i think it's great. I did similar work to yourself but through injury i can't do the tools anymore and a large part of what made me tick is gone for good. Your videos are what i turn to to get the feel good factor for many reasons, maunly in your honesty, in how regardless i live over the pond, the trials and tribulation of being a mechanic are very common and your videos for me are the perfect length of time, thank you very much for putting some normality into my life. Keep up with your efforts, all the best
Worked with lots of heavy equipment since childhood. Machines wear out but if well maintained they last a long time. Wherever I worked, the field or shop mechanic was the key to productivity vs downtime. Mechanics like you kept many jobbers in the black. Worth every penny. Love to watch you honestly run a business and earn a living. Thx for all the efforts on the vids.
Your an amazing dude Sir. I am a HD Mechanic by trade as well, but still love watching your videos there inspiring to me. Unbelievable about the story of the 7.3 oil cooler. Just shocking how crooked people can be. I worked with a guy who was a mechanic at a dealership and he told me when a pickup came in for a warranty head gasket job on a cummins, they would lift the head just enough to pull out the old one and put in a new one. No cleaning or nothing, just hammer it down and get it out the door. Unreal.
I've been watching your vids for several weeks now. Can't tell you how inspired I am by your work ethic. It's amazing how you keep such a rigorous schedule and still have time for your own stuff. Very happy to subscribe. I enjoy your humor and whit immensely.
*Sir, I think you got the right job. You're your own Boss and whatever happens are on your own terms, not a Tyrant or a boss that makes empty promises. Cheers(Eugene)*
Your videos make me laugh Warren from your clouds of diesel fumes filling the shop to your dodgy microphone and your oily rag to clean the lens but I love your interesting stories about life in rural USA and what shines through is your honesty, your hard work and your expert knowledge of big engines. It's these things that keep me watching all your videos - keep them coming.
I love your channel, work ethic, opinion of politicians etc, etc. Why anyone should give you a thumbs down is beyond, don't watch what you don't like. Water off a duck's back Warren. One comment for the negative viewers might be " Next time you're passing, please do!"
Warren, the way it works for me is. Emergency repair, then road service, and then shop work. It's the most profitable way I have found. I tell my customers that from the get go. They understand that and sometimes the shop work just seems to sit.
Warren I liked your story on the injection pump. I took a hydraulic pump to a reputable shop to rebuild. I took it there 3 times for them to repair but they never got it to stop leaking on the front seal. I never got reimbursement for a very lot of money I paid them. I geuss I was at fault for trusting them.
You may not have been able to hook up with a decent company because they figured out you avoid taking shortcuts and try to satisfy the customer. A lot of shops want the mechanic to satisfy the boss. Good work Warren. Keep it going!
Flat rate pay system sometimes puts the technician in a comprised position. Upsell a questionably needed service and that 1.2 hour job you have to bust hump at to break even becomes a 3.1 hour gravy job. I could see young Warren telling a service advisor and service manager to piss up a rope. Maybe not that nicely, lol.
With as many jobs as there are in your shop, you must be doing something right!! Communication is key for me. I've been waiting for 5 months on a new trailer they said would take 4 to 6 weeks. Each time I called they'd saw "let me call the manufacturer and I'll call you right back." Still waiting on that call....
Warren you are outstanding!!!! The Navy taught me that I was responsible for taking care of myself no body else is going to do it. I've had my azz chewed by the best, nothing you will ever say is going to hurt my feelings. I only have one of those left anyway. Keep it in a jar.
Back in the 80's I worked at a auto shop that also serviced big riggs. By watching your channel i have learned about diesel engines and other knowledge from you . What I'm saying is I'm a auto mechanic.. You do a nice job and are a hard work'n fella I appreciate the video's ..
couch or shade mechanic. warren if they dont like it and want to leave their lost you do what you do many of us will be here to watch because of your charming personally
Your a great guy Warren, have a lot of respect for any person making a go at having your own business. All I'm willing to do is rental property and been for 30 yrs. A service business like yours, I'm not brave enough. I just do this mechanical work on my own stuff. Really enjoy the content you provide. Set your self up with some type of Roth IRA. Be Blessed and enjoy life.
keep on doing what your doing, Some people think they now everything about what your doing and enjoy writing about it but they don't matter, your the one taking care of your family and you wouldn't be busy if you weren't doing a good job. Thanks for letting us watch!!!!
well.. this keeps us on our toes.. oh! your from K falls? Nice place.. But almost every time I went there as young tough I got into a fight.. Well so much for my idiot days.. haven't been back for 20 or more years now. But last time I was there I had a lot of fun with my wife and I.. (no kids).. carry on!
Thanks Warren for your insight on the way things work. Enjoy watching your videos. Wish I had a worker of your caliber near me here in northeast Ontario Canada. Robert Jull
Watching your repairs are great and informative but what tops you vlogs over the rest are the infill stories whilst your working. Keep it up love it here in Australia cheers
Had a one man shop near our farm growing up. Yeah you had to wait for your stuff , but they did good work ! Otherwise they wouldn't have had much work and could have got at it sooner. I'll wait my turn for good work.
My dewalt drill has a locking chuck , what you do is spin tighten it like usual then you grab the chuck while it’s stopped and give it a little extra twist and you here a ratchet sound and that’s the chuck locking it’s been great , they might have similar after market chuck that you could buy and swap out yours
The amount of work you get done is incrediable. Your basically by yourself for crying out loud...friggen amazing. On top of that your producing you tube videos. Anybody criticizing you has rocks in their head.
I've found that with most people, if you're up front with how long it's going to take they're perfectly happy to wait. My goal is to turn things around and get them back out to customers within 24 hours. And with a lot of stuff that comes through my shop that's perfectly doable, but some times it just isn't. But every so often you get that one togglehead who drops their computer off at 3PM and is calling you at 4.30 wondering if you've done anything with it and then get all huffy when they hear it hasn't been on the bench yet because there's other customers taking up all the spots.
i understand that warren can only advise the customer as to what should be done to this engine and it isnt his decision to make. i only work on my own trucks and equipment so i am saying what i would do if it were mine. i like to know the condition of the entire engine before it goes back together. i would like to tear down (or at least partially) and inspect the piston and rings on #6. as well as maybe a couple others. drop the pan and check the bearings. that engine was extremely hot and so was the oil. i would be worried about broken or damaged pistons and rings, burning oil, out of round cylinder, and damage to the lower end due to extremely hot thin oil. i would want to send the head out for a valve job. since the head is already off, the bulk of the labor is already being done. again, i understand warren can only suggest what he thinks should be done. it is the customer's decision as to how far he goes. it is tough when your hands are tied by the owners decision.
To get oil out of the cooling system I take concentrated Simple Green and dump it into the cooling system and top off with water. Drain all of it and maybe do it one more time, flush with water. I've done it a number of times and you couldn't tell there was any oil in the cooling system. Simple Green makes the oil solvable. I should tell you I did this more than 20 years ago.
My 3116 has never run right since I got it... Today I was hauling dirt and it just started running rough.. smoking like crazy and and no power... always something with it..
Hey Bud, unfortunately I've had multiple Milwaukee cordless drills and all of their chuck's are junk. Although gen 3 seems to be much better than previous models. Thanks for sharing Warren keep up the great work.
It's called Murphy's law. Your right that person has never run a business before, that being said, neither have I. But I watched my Dad run his own paving company he had enough help to get the job done, but sometimes he would get behind, and especially when you're the number one employee, you can only do so much. Just keep doing what you are doing and let the rest go where they want. Stay safe.
if the pistons didnt grab..............shes good to go. Im with Warren..........christmas tree /ball hones are great. Easy to use and they do a great job............ Suprising that Cat engine is only a 2 valve head.

I was in the heavy equipment mechanic field like you before I retired. If you want to offend he with your thoughts you will have to work harder at it. I would hope those interested in this type of work would have thick skin.

It's all good nobody's perfect
Warren not good enough Hahah, enjoy your video's. Love the amount of irons in your fire. It all comes together in the end with a pay cheque.

Love ur work Warren
As long as your customer are happy then that all that counts 👍
People either forget, or never learn that one of the secrets of mechnics is in developing and maintaining habits. Of always doing things the same way.

Job looking good so far fyi it's best not to use the drill to tighten the chuck it's best to just get a good grasp and tighten by hand.
hey man you work hard and dont put up with bullshit. hats off to you.
good stuff, thank you my friend....
Love the videos buddy👍😎
I subscribed to you because of your ramblings
Why thank you.
Warren when you hone the cylinders do you take the ball hone all the way down to the top of the piston or stop before it touches them?
I have a 98 C6500 with a 3116 Cat and I can not figure out why it is overheating sometimes. It will do it more when warmer outside but usually on when It is under load. Has new waterpump and thermostat. Any ideas on what to check? Thank you

God hard woorking man!!! keep it up, and we vill watch.
Volume down things you just happens all the time on a job brother have a good day and God bless you be careful and keep the jobs going
nice job from warren .
I have to admit, I was not aware you could do a hone without the pistons out. Do you suction out the grit or?
i love this channel!
Thank you, much appreciated.
Cordless chuck on makita - crank it tight ,back it off a hair and it locks the chuck to keep from loosening. Also with other brands too! Not an expert here just a RUclips student
Yep, tighten it fully then reverse slightly until you hear one click. This locks it, as Patrick says. Probably the same on Milwaukee drills.
Power lube! Best stuff there is, smells so good!
Waiting to see you sync the rack!
Can you please recommend a good aftermarket supplier for Cummins engine gaskets and overhaul kits? Thanks Warren for the educational videos.
IPD makes really good kits. You can get them from IPD directly or through Ag Kits. If you call ag kits talk to Moe.
@@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353 Thank you
Gosh - I hone out cylinders with the pistons in-em whenever the cause calls for it. Glazed cylinders need a little scratching 👍
Good video. I was curious is it bad to replace hydraulic oil with atf fluid or does it depend on the application.
great vid warren
I need a code reader for JD 6410 tractor. Can you tell me the brand and model of a code reader? Many thanks!!!
What grit ball hone is this your using and what size? Thank you for taking time doing these videos! Have a great afternoon
Hi Warren, when you hone the cylinders with the pistons in place how do you make sure the hone filings are out of the cyl? Or am I making a prob when none exists?.
