      +TFB TV The UK adopted the EM-2 as their service rifle, as well as the .280 British round. It was officially adopted as the Rifle No.9 and was only dropped due to political shenanigans. Had Britain been in a stronger political and economic position post WW2 and had Winston Churchill not felt that acquiescing to the US call for NATO to use 7.62x51mm was better than pushing for the .280 round to be adopted, there would probably have been hundreds of thousands of bullpup rifles in the 50s and 60s used by Britain and Commonwealth countries

    As ex-Australian army I do not think the AUG has a place on the battlefield, we need to upgrade to a non-bullpup design, the stock cannot be adjusted, you have to take your eyes off the battlefield when reloading which is a major no no and many other problems. The New Zealand armed forces have recently abandoned the AUG are moving onto more conventional rifles and so should we.

      Yeah I agree. The AUG is a great rifle, but bullpup designs just aren't as good as conventional. I'd still like to own one someday. It's mostly semantics, both will work for the most part, but conventional rifles have the edge as far as accuracy, and modularity.

    I have a Saber Styer Aug A3 and I love it! The magazine you have in that Aug isn't the standard 42 round mag. The only issue I have with the Aug is the mushy trigger inherent in a bullpups. It's a very accurate rifle and is a blast to shoot.
    Not bad man, not bad at all. I didn't know Styer made a pistol...consider me sold. I will say this, the Styer pistol looks an awful lot like Baretta's new offerings *Storm (aesthetically).

      +ÈIRE I've always wondered and have asked this question before of people who served with the Irish Defense Forces: Do they allow left handed shooters to convert their weapon to eject casings to the left? I know the AUG is capable of this, but so many militaries are so stuck in "uniformity" that it makes me question if it would be allowed. Do your marksmanship instructors give left handers a hard time when they want to convert it over and try to get them to shoot right handed?

    • @MrRoz121
      @MrRoz121 8 лет назад

      +TideFan Yankee they don't let you but they did have a few in stock alright so the higher rank you are of course you get priority, even if you are sitting on a chair all day not using it haha

    • @tidefanyankee2428
      @tidefanyankee2428 8 лет назад +1

      ÈIRE Yep, that's what I thought. That sucks for you all. I'm left-handed and was able to shoot the M16A1&2 as well as the M4 with no issues. Doesn't the Irish Defense Force have armorers who can convert weapons to a left hand eject? We trained to shoot with our weak side with both shouldered weapons as well as pistols, but the accuracy declined when we did. The bullpup types of weapons are a great concept but the left/right eject is an issue that needs to be addressed if all the shooters are go get the most out of them, in my personal opinion. The FN2000 ejects to the front as does the Kel-Tec RDF.

    WHen I bought my Steyr M9A1 the retailer told me the design was a group of glock designers who developed the orig "19" we all know. They wanted to improve the design, but Glock was happy with the sales, so they went down the road to Steyr. Few talking points the grip is a few degrees slacker so your wrist locks out just as it points, allows for faster pointing once you get used to it, the grip has a metal inlay and all the pins are attached to that to increase strength, AND they have an internal safety with a key that completely immobilized the working parts so it can never fire unless properly unlocked.
    I really love shooting mine. The lower bore axis helps with recoil a lot

  • @BrendenParker
    @BrendenParker 5 лет назад

    I served 6 years in the Australian Infantry, and the F88 version of the Steyr AUG is reliable, tough, operates in most conditions (except when completely immersed in water for a long time, you have to quickly field strip it and clean it, then it works ok). The F88 does away with the picatinny rails on the receiver group that hold the sights, making the body all one piece as well as a convenient carry handle with scope. The built in scope is x1.5, iron sights on top if the scope breaks. It takes practise but good groupings are achieved at 300 meters. It is tough, you can drop it from a speeding vehicle and it won't discharge and still fire accurately. By the way, the hook part on the end of the stock is designed to break people's jaws. A good battle rifle that doesn't require a whole lot of brains to use, but it does require maintenance, unlike the AK 47 and variants.

    I totally agree with the STEYR AUG. I was trained on the STG77 (thats what we call the AUG) in the Austrian Army, some 35 years ago. I loved the rifle because of its ergonomics and precision. I disagree about the STEYR M9-A1. This pistol is not better than a Glock. But you are absolutly right about the marketing department of STEYR. I know the guy. He told me personaly, that he don´t like, when people beside police officiers carry handguns. He is a shmock.

    I completely agree about the Styer m9. First time I shot one I thought I just got lucky with how tight my group was but the sights and the gun itself just all work great together very well

    Kel-Tec is probably the #1 or 2 innovator in the firearms industry today. Awesome designs. Just looks like you’d be buying junk 🙄

    While serving with the Irish Army in Bosnia 2000, when US troops saw our AUG said it was the neatest rifle they ever saw and, "would be super-cool for a drive-by". Need it any other endorsement !!

    Love the narrators humour. Aussies been using Steyr AUG Aussie variant for years. Pretty rad looking admittedly . Seems long barrel on it assists accuracy without the broom handle issue in longer barrel assault 5.56mm.

    I think the CX4 looks pretty good, actually.

      I think it's a very niche gun. Appealing to a very specific crowd. I'd love to get one but that's just because it looks crazy. The small ammo caliber is my only turn off but then again, I don't own any firearms so what do I know, right?
