Shotgun is good, ammo should be readily available, just search deserted farmhouses. But if you end up in a long range shoot out with a rifleman, not so good. .357 is going to have less availability of ammo.
SvenTviking the shotgun, with slugs, is good to 200 yards, and maybe beyond with the right slug. The .357, gives the option of .38’s, and there isn’t a sporting goods store, gun shop, or Walmart that doesn’t have .357 and .38’s.

I would have thought that bullet proof stuff, i.e. kevlar helmets and bullet-resistant vests, would also be banned in nations with strict-ass gun control laws. Can't have the plebs possess something that might prevent a government bullet from killing them now can we? EDIT: I looked into it. In Australia body armor is illegal to import in most situations and illegal to possess without authorization in most parts of the country. In Europe, armor developed under 'military specifications' or 'for main military usage' (which I imagine covers anything that stops rifles) is considered 'armament materials' and completely illegal to civilians; i.e. a level IV plate is legally the same as a flippin' hand grenade. In many parts of Canada, armor was (until very recently) more restricted than rifles.

The problem with the ZIp is that it weighs only about 1 pound. So when it fails to fire and you have to throw it at the target it won't do much damage. A hopelessly jammed Hi Point 9 mm is closer to 2 pounds, so at least it has some heft as a thrown weapon.
It really is true. That's the best analogy I've heard about it. My uncle prefers the Garand. I told him the M1A1 is much better with 2 and a half times the capacity and practically the same bolt system, plus .308 is every bit as powerful as 30-06. Modern .308 is actually more powerful than the surplus WW2 ball for the Garand. He still insists on his Garand, though. Of course he's also a 1911 or revolver guy. I gave him my old Ruger Blackhawk .44 and he absolutely loves it. That's now his truck gun that he carries while cutting firewood, prospecting or hunting.
Yeah kinda, but it is still a loved gun by even my generation tho lol. It's not really the most practical (or even at all to nowadays standards) but it's fricking cool imho. It's the gun I remember in my childhood playing medal of honor rising sun and call of duty 2 big red one extra...

@Fat Doomguy while I agree that all weapons have an application and the shockwave is uniquely suited for dumpster defense, I dont see the shockwave or judge being suited for the myriad of situations one could find themselves in during the apocalypse.
A slave to fashion would be a better description. I saw people grab up both of them just for the novelty, but eventually figure out how impractical they are. Five pellets of 000 buck is nice, but when was the last time you saw .45 Colt widely available? It's a damn good round, but can be difficult to find. Regarding the Shockwave, all I can say is WHY? It's like they took all the downsides of a shotgun and amplified them. The recoil has to be about a bitch, the muzzle flash blinding and aiming out of the question.

"The M1 Garand is the acoustic rock of the gun world." Holy shit, that was epic..
