Coastwatch follows Fishery Officers from The Ministry for Primary Industries, NZ Airforce and Navy personnel, and the Maritime Police. Greenstone gets up close and personal to find out what’s involved in patrolling and enforcing the law that protects our coastlines, water-ways and billion dollar Kai-moana industries.
We also follow the men and women volunteering for Northland Regions Coastguard, and the Northland Electricity Rescue Helicopter. Tasked with responding to mayday calls, medical emergencies, on-water breakdowns and accidents, they keep our waterways, and those on them, safe. The Maritime Police, along with the Police National Dive Squad, are also on high alert for any maritime emergencies.

Fines are not enough, notice how casual the guy was as if he didn't care.
Punishments don’t fit the crimes! NZ needs to crack down hard or our stocks of seafood will disappear.
I am happy they are out there giving these men and women fines and taking their vehicles. The ocean life is precious. If we didn't have these men and woman busting these people then the ocean life will be depleted. The ocean needs these officer's. 👏 Thank you!!
“I think probably your first answer was the more accurate one”
“Yeh”😂😂😂
If that last guy
has been fishing for 20 years and is that naive then he has taken a lot of undersized fish home. Good that he wasn't let off.
Ofcourse he take undersized fish home..most of them just lied just cause they got caught haha
Cant believe there so nice about breaking the law
anyone willing to put ecosystems at risk should get MUCH harsher penalties! stop letting them use ignorance as an excuse! its their tactic to try to get off with a lesser penalty.
..Customary permits are open to abuse..Even if a permit is 'officially' filled out - it could be the guy's father, uncle or auntie ..
How can someone have a permit for 268 Abalone?
Jail time
Is that it too soft
Power fish/shells? Its how close caption is translating Australian to English
Paua✌
English to English?
@@Charleybear70 yep that's the joke
New Zealand

Omg your kidding 💀 When will they learn
Different rules in australia,
As far as I’m aware there is no size or catch limit for aboriginals,
They can catch whatever they like no questions asked!!
Yeah but they're less likely to take more than they need.
In NZ you can catch as many aboriginals as you like too, regardless of size, just not paua 😂
